The sultry July of midsummer had arrived once again, bringing summer vacation with it.

The weekend marked the last day of the semester.

「T City No.1 Middle School.」

That afternoon, the entrance to No.1 Middle School gradually began to buzz with activity. Numerous cars from different places pulled up in front of the school gates, quickly transforming the open space and the street outside into a congested parking lot. This forced passing vehicles and pedestrians to slow their pace.

Every weekend, parents liked to personally pick up their children, as if this was the only way to show how much they valued and loved their offspring. It was rare for anyone to let their children go home alone.

In the spacious and beautiful campus, on the two-meter-wide, cement-paved, tree-lined path, a few sophomore students in No.1 Middle School uniforms stopped a freshman girl.

"Camila, tomorrow marks the start of the summer vacation. How about we go on a trip?"

The group of sophomore boys were all unmistakably cool, their uniforms making them stand out from the other students. They caught the eye of many passing girls, who couldn't help but give them a few extra glances.

Camila Ruiz looked up, her beautiful, large eyes—dark and rolling—sparkling with mischief as they moved. However, on the surface, her fair and pleasing face maintained its usual smile. Her petite stature, at only 155 centimeters, made her seem even smaller in front of these taller sophomores. This intensified their desire to envelop her in their arms and cherish her protectively.

Her flowing long hair was the most striking feature about her. Whether tied up or let loose, her black, silky tresses were enough to stir up yearnings in others to touch and feel them. To be able to stroke her hair was satisfaction enough.

"I don't have the time, what can I do?" Camila replied gently with a smile.

At fifteen, she wasn't naturally gentle, but her mother Rachel Bailey had forcibly molded her into an outwardly graceful lady. In the eyes of others, she truly did seem like a lady, exuding nobility with every move. With her warm demeanor and attractive face, she looked every bit the daughter from a prestigious family.

If she were in front of her arch-enemy, Jimmy Horne, her true nature would be revealed.

Thinking of Jimmy Horne, a slight hint of sadness flickered through Camila's large eyes.

It had been ten years since she had last seen Jimmy Horne, her childhood nemesis. Surprisingly, after all this time, he was the one she missed the most. She hadn't expected that the person she yearned for would turn out to be her childhood adversary.

Ever since Adele Horne married Noah Reyes, Jimmy had stopped studying and training in martial arts with her. Instead, he had been unanimously dumped by the clan elders into a Training Base for devilish training. It was said that the place was deserted, with no telephones, no cars, untraceable and unreachable. Anyone dropped there not only had to undergo self-defense training but also face the challenge of self-reliance.

It sounded good to say it was to strengthen one's physique, but in truth, it was training for how to kill.

Camila's heart squeezed inexplicably. She didn't want that jerk to become a murder maniac. However, she was powerless to do anything, since that jerk had a father who wasn't exactly a good person. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

This deeply saddened Adele.

It also angered Noah Reyes greatly.

Yet even Noah Reyes, as leader of the clan, could not stand against the unanimous decision of all the elders.

Poor Jimmy had been forced to leave his parents at the tender age of five. He was sent to the Training Base, located in a country or realm they knew nothing about. All these years, she didn't even know if he was alive or dead.

She asked Brother Ivan over and over again, and all he could do was comfort her, saying that no news was good news.

Adele had already had her second child, another handsome son, who was now eight years old and named Jordan Reyes.

Fate always seemed to enjoy playing tricks on people. Both Julia and Adele, the sisters-in-law, had hoped for a cute and affectionate daughter for their second child. Yet, ironically, both of their second-born were boys. This frustrated them so much that they cursed their husbands for being useless and unable to produce a daughter.

Glades Horne and Noah Reyes claimed they were innocent—how could they have known it would be another boy?

After Jimmy was taken away, Camila left the Literary and Martial Arts School as well. Regardless of how much she enjoyed fighting with Jimmy, she ultimately wasn't cut out for martial arts. Consequently, she returned to the conventional educational path and was thus separated from Ivan Horne.

However, during every summer vacation, she could still reunite with Brother Ivan.

Ten years had passed. She had slowly grown into a slender and graceful young lady, while Brother Ivan had become a heartthrob capable of making any girl scream with infatuation, despite being only fifteen years old. His composed nature, unpredictable expressions, and occasional playfulness had broken countless girls' hearts.

She, being the most beloved sister of Brother Ivan, became the envy of those girls.

Often, she would be warned by the girls who adored Ivan to stay away from him. The reason? She didn't have a stunning beauty. Even though she was pretty in a fresh and endearing way, in the eyes of those girls, she just wasn't a match for the seemingly celestial Ivan.

Camila Ruiz chuckled to herself. Heh heh.

No matter how good Brother Ivan is to me, in my heart, he's always just my brother.

And Brother Ivan always sees me as just his little sister too.

The two of them were very close, but they were crystal clear about the nature of their feelings—or rather the absence of certain feelings.

"Camila, what are you so busy with? We can help you," a few cool guys overheard their crush mentioning she was busy and immediately asked, eager to jump through hoops for her.

Camila Ruiz smiled, shook her head, and pointed towards two ten-year-old boys standing at the school gate, saying, "I need to look after my two younger brothers. I wonder if the seniors could help with that?"

It had been ten years since Rachel Bailey gave birth to twin boys, much to Mrs. Ruiz's delight, who was all smiles.

The twins, named Christopher Ruiz and Barnes Ruiz, took after their parents. Christopher, like his father Hansen Ruiz, had a deceptive smile, a smiling tiger of sorts; the warmer his smile, the angrier he was, signaling bad luck to those who angered him. Barnes, resembling his mother Rachel, was sharp-tongued and nagging, just like an old lady. When he got started, he could ruthlessly hurl insults about a person and their ancestors for generations. He was only a step away from cursing the dead back to life, earning him the nickname "the young master with the venomous tongue."

One thing the brothers shared was treating their only sister, Camila Ruiz, as their most precious treasure.

Usually, it's the sisters who protect their younger brothers, but here, it was the younger brothers looking out for their sister.

They were students in the fifth grade of T City Elementary School No. 1 and would come to T City No.1 Middle School to wait for Camila every weekend to go home together.
