Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 587 Spoiling the Wife Addiction (2)_1
"Don't worry, your husband is very capable. Even if I don't go to the office for a month, I still have the company under my control."
"I know, you're great. I know you're the greatest." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"I'm just telling the truth, not boasting."
"Not boasting, just a peddler praising her own melons."
"Honey, you're really hurting my ego..."
Although Julia kept emphasizing that she was healthy and nothing would happen, Glades Horne remained highly anxious, ready for the child's birth at any moment.
He had ordered Uncle Ying to report Julia's condition at home to him every day. As soon as he got home, Uncle Ying would hurriedly report on Julia's day: how much she ate, how long she napped, even how many sentences she spoke and their content—Uncle Ying meticulously noted every detail.
Glades had once instructed Hansen Ruiz to hire an obstetrician and a nurse for him. Although Hansen had made the arrangements, Julia refused. She felt that she was only pregnant, not some seriously ill patient, so there was no need for such a fuss. She also said that everyone goes to the hospital to give birth, and hospitals have experienced doctors.
Faced with Julia's refusal, Glades could only relent.
The efforts to retaliate against Pheobe Rogers had temporarily ceased. With her livelihood gone, Pheobe was like an ant on a hot pan, frantically scurrying around. Finding work was out of the question for her, as she was accustomed to a life of luxury. And starting a business like Mila Anderson had, was out of reach due to her lack of capital. Her most urgent task now was to find her beloved son, so for the time being, she kept a low profile, focusing all her energy on finding James Horne.
Gian Horne was financially cut off. At home, he was practically invisible; Mila rarely spoke to him unless it concerned their divorce. He no longer had any interest in dealing with Pheobe Rogers and instead began reflecting on his life, wondering how he had ended up in such a predicament in his old age.
The Horne Family slowly returned to peace, resuming their old way of life.
「The days passed quietly, one after another.」
One morning, Julia woke up and, as usual, was about to prepare clothes for Glades Horne. However, Glades wrapped his arms around her waist, stopping her from getting out of bed. He murmured deeply, "I'm not going back to the office today."
"Oh," Julia responded, but still managed to pry his large hands away to get out of bed and fetch their clothes.
Glades sat up in bed, watching her go about the ordinary tasks she performed every day since she had stopped working. Among thousands of men, many would take it for granted that their wives should prepare their clothes, even help them put on their suit jackets and tie their ties upon waking. It was a wife's duty, they'd think. But how many could truly appreciate that this was happiness?
"Actually, I was thinking of going to the office for a bit today." Julia, now dressed, sat at the dressing table, combing her long hair, which flowed past her shoulders. The long hair made her look even more feminine and enchanting. "It takes several minutes, sometimes even over ten minutes, to style this hair every day," she remarked casually as she combed.
She preferred simplicity, which was why she usually liked short hair. She kept her hair long now only because Glades liked it.
He would try his best to indulge her in what she liked, and she, in turn, would try her best to accommodate his preferences.
Previously, her style of dress was very ordinary, aimed at concealing her identity as a lady of the Bluen Family. Now, her attire was always chosen with his gaze in mind. It couldn't be helped; a woman adorns herself for the man she loves. Women dress up for the men they adore. If a woman didn't love a man, she wouldn't care about her appearance in front of him.
"Come, let me help you comb it. Your hair is black and shiny, soft as silk. I can't get enough of it." Glades slid out of bed with a smile, walked behind his beloved wife, took the comb from her hand, and began to smooth her tresses. When he tried to gather her hair into a high, elegant bun, he fumbled, his fingers clumsy and unpracticed.
Julia chuckled and took the comb back from him. Even she, a woman, wasn't particularly adept at creating such a sophisticated, elegant bun, let alone a man as clumsy with such things as he was.
"You want to go to the office? I'll go with you."
"No need. I can manage on my own. You go about your own business."
He watched as she deftly styled her hair into an elegant bun at the nape of her neck. A few soft wisps escaped, framing her face and trailing near her earlobes, making her look even more stunningly beautiful.
Reaching out, he picked up a pair of earrings for her, insisting on putting them on. Then, he helped her put on the layered necklace she had once admired, the one he had gifted her. Instantly, she exuded an air of opulence—noble and graceful, yet unpretentious.
"With a belly this big, no matter how I dress up, I don't think I look good."
Julia removed the expensive necklace with a soft smile and stood up. Her belly, now over seven months along, was so prominent it looked as if she could give birth at any moment.
Her mother-in-law, Mila Anderson, also eyed her belly daily, as if worried Julia might deliver prematurely. It was her first pregnancy, she had a strong constitution, and Dr. Lei had assured the Horne Family that she was definitely not at risk of premature labor, putting their minds at ease.
The matriarch appeared more composed than anyone else, but in reality, she was also very anxious.
All the baby's clothes were ready. Her own mother had prepared a considerable amount, and her mother-in-law and the matriarch had contributed even more. The child wasn't even born yet, but their clothes already filled two small wardrobes.
Because Julia's belly had grown larger, her mother visited the Horne residence more and more frequently.
"In my eyes, you are always beautiful and captivating. I'll accompany you to the office," Glades insisted once more.
Turning her head to meet his deep, affectionate gaze, she smiled and agreed, "Alright then."
He would always make time to accompany her in whatever she wanted to do.
With him pampering her like this, she felt like she was living in a honey pot every day.
After Julia visited the office, she then felt like going for a drive by the seaside. Glades, ever indulgent, didn't say a word, immediately turning the car around and driving her towards the coast.
As early summer arrived and the weather grew warmer, people began to crave ice cream.
