Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 551: A Day Apart Feels Like Three Autumns (4)_1
Apart from the main meals, she needed to eat two snacks a day.
There was no helping it. The little one inside her belly was growing day by day, and the nutrition it required was increasing. If she ate even a little less, she would feel hungry, and eating a bit more made her stomach uncomfortable. The books said that in the late stages of pregnancy, this problem would become more serious. Even if she was very hungry, she wouldn’t dare to eat too much because her stomach would feel squeezed.
"As long as he can get better, I can endure any hardship." When she mentioned her man, Ruby Bluen was the picture of tenderness.
"Sis, look at you. Just mention Brother Marcel, and your face practically radiates tenderness," Julia teased with a chuckle. As soon as she finished speaking, Ruby Bluen gave her a playful pinch, chiding, "Naughty girl, don’t pick on me. You’re the same. But I think the most impressive one is Glades. Glades, just the mention of you can make his expression change as quickly as flipping through a book. One moment he’s an iceberg, the next a sea of fire. He’s always been like that; how did none of us ever guess that you were the one he truly loved?"
"Sis, I miss him. I really, really miss him!" Julia suddenly dropped her teasing tone, sounding a bit down.
Ruby Bluen smiled, wrapped an arm around her shoulder, patted her reassuringly, and said, "Sis understands. Glades will be back soon. If he saw you like this, he would be very upset. Julia, you were so strong this morning. Don’t let your sister think that was just a facade. Besides, Glades is only on a business trip."
Ruby Bluen had endured the sorrow of parting and the pain of longing.
One could say that before Marcel Horne’s return, she had lived this kind of life every day. Men she did not care for bore the title of ’boyfriend,’ while the man she loved was miles away.
Every day when she opened her eyes, she thought about when he would come back. Every night before sleep, she would wonder if he would visit her in her dreams.
In comparison, Julia was much happier than she had been. At least Julia’s yearning was out in the open. Hers, on the other hand, had been secret—an emotional pain that was unbearable. Now that she and Marcel Horne had finally progressed from lovers to husband and wife, she treasured every minute with him all the more.
"You’re my sister. I can only show my true feelings in front of you. In front of others, of course, I have to put on a strong front." Julia cooed playfully, nuzzling against Ruby Bluen like a child seeking comfort. Ruby held her close, and the sisters kept chatting.
Her "Pleasant Goat" ringtone chirped. It only rang once before she eagerly pulled out her phone and pressed the answer button.
"Glades."
"Julia, did you wake up from your nap? Are you hungry? If you’re hungry, have Aunty Mei make you something to eat. I’ll be back very soon." Glades’ deep voice came through, filled with his usual grandmotherly nagging.
Julia gripped her phone tighter, smiling faintly. "I know, old man. You’ve called several times already. Once after lunch, once before my nap, and this is the third time." Though she said this, Julia secretly wished he would call her every minute.
"I just wanted to hear your voice," Glades’ voice softened even more.
"So cheesy."
"I enjoy being cheesy with you. Remember not to go hungry, and if you go out, wear some extra layers. I have to hang up now." Glades must have been very busy. Despite his preoccupation, even if he only had time to make a call during a restroom break, he would do it.
Usually, he was like a doting grandfather, always sticking close to her. Suddenly being away on a business trip, he felt time passing agonizingly slow. So much time seemed to have passed, yet it had only been half a day.
"Bye-bye..." Glades didn’t even hear Julia’s goodbye.
Staring at her phone, Julia furrowed her brows. She could feel how busy Glades was. This business trip must be due to some major issue at the company.
"Stop looking; Glades won’t crawl out of the phone. Come on, Sis will take you for a walk outside," Ruby Bluen said with a smile, pulling her sister to her feet.
"What about Brother Marcel?" Julia hadn’t forgotten the inseparable bond between her sister and Marcel Horne.
Ruby Bluen just smiled and did not reply.
「In the backyard.」
James Horne was leisurely pushing Marcel Horne in his wheelchair.
They were all worried that Julia would find it hard to adapt to Glades’ sudden departure. So, James Horne had temporarily taken over caring for Marcel Horne from Ruby Bluen, allowing Ruby to accompany Julia on an outing to ease her mind.
Only by keeping Julia’s schedule packed every minute of the day could they lessen her longing for Glades.
James Horne’s thoughtfulness was truly considerate.
Ruby Bluen, her sister Julia, and Adele Horne, accompanied by Julia’s four bodyguards, left the Horne residence in several cars.
Ever since Ruby Bluen had married into the Horne family, she rarely left the house, aside from accompanying Marcel Horne for walks. Today, if not for James Horne, she wouldn’t have had much time to go out with her sister and sister-in-law.
Ruby Bluen was very happy, even though she was also worried about Marcel Horne.
At the backyard gate, Marcel Horne watched silently as the cars drove away. Ruby Bluen’s departing figure as she boarded her car, radiating happiness, stayed with him.
Ruby, for you, I will strive to stand up! I must try even harder! Marcel Horne silently vowed in his heart.
"Brother, do you want to go outside for a walk? I can push you," James Horne suggested. He saw his brother gazing toward the villa’s entrance and thought Marcel might want to step out. It had been a while since Marcel Horne’s accident, and indeed, he had rarely seen the outside world since then. That feeling was terribly sad.
It was like a perfectly healthy person suddenly being unable to see the world’s beauty.
After a moment’s thought, Marcel Horne nodded.
「South Hill District, Waterfront New Village.」 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
After dinner, Rachel Bailey didn’t rush to the hospital for a check-up. Instead, she hid in her room and sneakily called Julia. Julia had just left the house when she received the call from her best friend. She asked with a laugh, "Rachel, what’s up? Are you free? I’m heading to Pedestrian Street. Want to join me?"
Sitting on her bed, Rachel Bailey also laughed. "My dear Lady of Leisure, you really are living the life."
"Lady of Leisure? Sounds like you’re talking about yourself, Rachel. Don’t forget, you’re a Lady of Leisure now too. Heh heh. Spill it, what’s up? You know the saying: you only call when something’s up. You definitely have something to tell me," Julia’s giggling voice came through. Their conversations were always easygoing, natural, and very relatable.
