Chapter 547: Chapter 547 Sudden Departure (4)_1

Glades Horne’s sword-like eyebrows immediately knitted together.

He had never encountered something like this before.

Not only that, but subsidiaries in four different cities were experiencing the same issues simultaneously. This surely indicated a conspiracy. The products manufactured by these subsidiaries varied, and they usually had no private dealings with each other. So, why would the disturbances erupt at the same time?

"CEO, I’m already on my way to the airport. I’ll wait for you there. Secretary Yang has already sent you the plane ticket," Hansen Ruiz’s tone was unusually stern.

"Alright," Glades Horne responded in a low, husky voice.

After hanging up Hansen Ruiz’s call, Glades Horne immediately turned and walked towards the study room door, his steps still measured. Despite the gravity of the situation, he maintained his composure as a leader, not allowing sudden emergencies to disrupt his calm.

"Brother, where are you going?" James Horne asked anxiously. He hadn’t heard Hansen Ruiz’s words, but he could tell from Glades Horne’s expression that something significant had happened. His brother’s deeply furrowed brows were something he had never seen before.

"I’m going on a business trip. I probably won’t be back for a while, James." Glades Horne reached the study door, then suddenly turned. After nearly half an hour of silence, he finally spoke to James, entrusting him with a task. "While I’m away, you must swear on your life to protect Julia and the baby in her womb. Don’t let them suffer the slightest harm. Also, give up any thoughts you have of Julia. Your protection must be carried out secretly!"

In this house, a lot could happen at any given moment. Although Julia had secured her footing, he still worried that some people might take advantage of his absence to plot or scheme against her. He had to entrust someone to protect Julia in his stead. The third and fifth brothers rarely returned here. While his grandmother was strong-willed, she was getting old. As for his parents, he didn’t rely on them at all. Only James could be trusted.

Because James, just like him, loved Julia deeply and cherished her as his own life. James also had the capability and a stern, resolute manner. With his protection, Julia would be unharmed. If it weren’t absolutely necessary, he really wouldn’t want to entrust Julia to James.

"Brother, has something happened?" James persisted worriedly. The Valence Group had been established for many years, towering in the business world like a kingdom. Although issues did occur, ever since his brother had taken over the Valence Group, there had been no crisis demanding the CEO’s personal intervention. Now that his brother needed to leave immediately, James could imagine how serious the situation was.

"Don’t ask about it. Just remember what I’ve said!" Glades Horne gave him a cold stare. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

James Horne nodded emphatically. Only then did Glades Horne turn, open the study door, and step out.

Downstairs, Secretary Yang had already arrived at the Horne family villa, having driven quickly. It was also because of Secretary Yang’s arrival that Julia learned Glades Horne had to leave on an immediate business trip.

As Glades walked out of the house, she was walking in. The couple met at the Main House entrance.

"Julia, I need to deal with some things," Glades Horne stopped, standing before his beloved wife, and spoke with great reluctance.

Since getting married, the two had never been apart. Now, when she was pregnant and needed his presence the most, he had to leave on a business trip.

The situation at those subsidiaries wouldn’t be simple. He didn’t know how long this trip would take or when he could return.

Julia didn’t speak. She just brushed past him, hurrying back into the house.

"Julia..." Glades Horne, thinking she was heartbroken and upset, turned and called after her, following in concern.

Everyone was surprised to learn that Glades Horne had to leave on a sudden business trip. His grandmother, familiar with the Valence Group’s operations, grew worried. She didn’t ask why; she could only wait. She also believed that her precious grandson would handle these sudden matters adeptly.

Julia quickly ran back to their room. She swiftly packed several sets of clothes for Glades Horne and gathered some daily necessities. After packing, she pulled the suitcase filled with Glades’s clothes downstairs.

As Julia came downstairs with the suitcase, Glades called out, "Julia."

Still slightly breathless from her earlier rush upstairs to pack, Julia said, "Take these with you. Be careful not to get cold. I’ll wait for you at home." She then pulled the suitcase along, took Glades by the hand, and led him outside.

Glades Horne’s heart surged. She was reluctant for him to leave, yet she didn’t complain or cry. She even thoughtfully packed his things and gave him instructions, allowing him to leave with peace of mind. Her grace and thoughtfulness made him want to embrace her tightly and tell her he didn’t want to go, that he couldn’t bear even a day of separation.

"You must take good care of the Eldest Young Master. Look after him well. He must not miss any meals, and don’t let him get hungry, cold, tired, or hurt," Julia said sternly to the two Bodyguards in front of Glades’s car, her demeanor that of a true matriarch.

"I am entrusting a healthy Eldest Young Master to you. When you return, I expect you to bring him back to me in the same good condition!"

After finishing her instructions, Julia had the Bodyguards load Glades’s suitcase, filled with his clothes, into the car.

Turning, she faced Glades, who was looking deeply at her. Their eyes met. Then, she threw herself into his arms, hugging his waist tightly, and said, "Glades, I’ll take good care of myself. Don’t worry about anything. Just come home after you’ve dealt with everything. The baby and I will be waiting for your return."

Glades whispered into Julia’s ear, his voice husky, "My dear, I’ll be back very soon."

Julia’s face flushed. She nodded, adjusted his clothes, and then saw him off into the car.

The prestigious silver-white Rolls-Royce slowly left the Horne family villa under Julia’s watchful gaze. Then it sped up, quickly heading towards Golden Kirin Garden.

Secretary Yang followed Glades’s car as it departed.

Julia never asked Glades what had happened from beginning to end. She had faith in Glades. No matter how enormous the situation, he would handle it well and return to her and their baby soon.

「Emperor Hotel.」

"Hansen is away on business?" Mrs. Ruiz repeated with a joyful expression, asking Floyd Thomas, who had just come to report on Hansen’s recent situation.

She hadn’t left T City. When Hansen had tried to send her back to A City, she had pretended to comply, but it was just a facade. As soon as she could, she had turned around, returned, and checked into the Emperor Hotel.

Whenever Hansen wasn’t at home, she would occasionally appear before Rachel Bailey. The struggle between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law had turned covert.

Rachel Bailey was unaware that she was staying at the Emperor Hotel. She just thought Mrs. Ruiz was going to great lengths to trouble her, wasting gas money and tiring herself out in the process.

"Yes." Floyd Thomas felt a sense of foreboding when he saw his mistress’s pleased expression.

With the Eldest Young Master away on business and only the Eldest Young Madam at home... His mistress had never accepted the Young Madam. He worried a severe conflict would arise between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

He broke out in a cold sweat, realizing he had made a grave mistake. He shouldn’t have followed his mistress’s orders to secretly inquire about the Eldest Young Master’s status. If the conflict between the Young Madam and his mistress escalated, when the Eldest Young Master returned, would he be skinned alive? Or worse, would the Eldest Young Master skin his own mother? And he, Floyd, would become an accomplice in driving a wedge between mother and son!

Floyd Thomas deeply regretted his actions.

"How long will Hansen be away on this business trip? He’s the CEO’s Assistant at the Valence Group, second only to the CEO in importance. For him to be sent on a business trip, and on such short notice too... Did something happen at the Valence Group?" Mrs. Ruiz, while pleased her son was away on business—meaning she could move into his villa to deal with her ’country bumpkin’ daughter-in-law—had not lost her shrewdness.

Floyd Thomas remained silent. He was just his mistress’s bodyguard, not a businessman. How could he know if something had happened at the Valence Group?

"Never mind that for now. Floyd, pack up immediately! Check out! Let’s go!" Mrs. Ruiz stood up and commanded decisively.

Meanwhile, Rachel Bailey, who was out delivering goods with a driver she’d hired, had just received news of Hansen’s sudden trip and hadn’t yet rushed home. She suddenly sneezed violently...
