Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 49 Narrow Path for Enemies (2)_1

This was normal, but the owner of the BMW stopped her car and stuck her head out of the window to curse at Julia Bluen. "How do you drive? If you’d damaged my BMW, could you afford it? If you can’t drive, then don’t! And don’t flaunt that cheap car around..."
Through the rear-view mirror, Julia saw that the BMW’s owner was actually her sister-in-law, Adele Horne.
Naturally, the person sitting in Adele Horne’s car was Orlando Evans, who had been thrown out of the Horne Family by Glades Horne the night before.
Indeed, enemies often cross paths.
Julia stopped her car, rolled down the window, and stuck her head out, displaying a very brilliant, sweet smile. She deliberately said to Adele with a laugh, "If you drove your brother’s Rolls-Royce and I damaged it, I would still pay for it."
Adele hadn’t expected the Twitter car to be Julia’s. They seldom interacted, and she didn’t know that Julia owned a Twitter car, since Julia always drove a black Mercedes when she visited the Horne Family.
"It’s you?"
Seeing her sister-in-law, Adele’s face darkened even more. She flung open her car door, furious as if she had met her nemesis, stormed out of the car, and quickly walked up to Julia’s Twitter car, rudely banging hard on Julia’s car door and arrogantly shouting, "Julia Bluen, get out! We have a score to settle."
Last night, Orlando Evans failed to seduce my big brother and was even thrown out of the Horne Family villa in a fit of anger by my brother, who instructed Uncle Ying not to let Orlando Evans enter the Horne Family’s gates again without his permission. This was clearly intended to end our years of friendship! My brother can dislike Orlando Evans, but I can’t be without her as a friend. I have a terrible temper, and even though I come from a noble birth, nobody wants to spend time with me. Over these years, only Orlando Evans has kept me company, so I don’t feel so lonely.
She blamed everything on Julia Bluen.
If it weren’t for Julia Bluen’s existence, and Ruby Bluen running away from her wedding, my brother would definitely be willing to accept other women.
Julia eyed her sister-in-law with a smirk, without getting out of the car. She countered with a laugh, "What score could we possibly have to settle? Is it what you owe me, or what I owe you?"
"You..." Adele’s face turned red with anger.
"You came for coffee, right? The coffee inside is quite good; I’ve just tasted it myself, so I won’t keep you. I’ll be going now," Julia said, not intending to argue with Adele. After delivering her remarks—simple yet enough to infuriate Adele—she rolled up the window, started the engine, and drove off, leaving Adele stomping her foot in rage.
At this point, even if Julia had gotten out to apologize to Adele, Adele would have wanted to strangle her. Besides, Julia had done nothing wrong and did not want to argue. After all, they were already sisters-in-law, and seeing each other upon returning to the Horne Family was inevitable. She did not want to further strain what was already a tense relationship.
"Who is she, to be so arrogant?" Rachel Bailey asked with some curiosity. "These kinds of people are so overbearing; they think they can oppress others with their power. They think they’re great just because they drive a BMW? If they really had guts, why not drive something worth over ten million?"
Julia Bluen responded with a chuckle, "That’s my sister-in-law, the young miss of the Horne Family."
"Huh?" Rachel Bailey was stunned for a moment. So that was Julia’s sister-in-law? With a sister-in-law like that, could Julia expect peaceful days ahead?
"Julia, I’m no lady of leisure, so I don’t know what life is like in a wealthy family, but I think those families, despite their glamorous exteriors, have the same kinds of relationships as ordinary people. Just looking at her, your sister-in-law seems difficult to get along with. After you marry into their family, will she cause you trouble?"
"She’s already causing trouble now, so why wait until after I’ve married in?" Julia Bluen said with a carefree smile. She was confident in her ability to navigate complex relationships. After all, she and Glades Horne had been childhood sweethearts for over twenty years, and she had long since figured out the temperaments of the Horne Family members.
Knowing herself and her adversary, why would she fear being bullied?
Rachel Bailey also smiled and then changed the subject.
「Tibet」
Though Ruby Bluen had torn up the hard-won plane ticket that Marcel Horne had bought for her, she was temporarily staying at the Military Camp. Marcel’s attitude towards her remained as cold as ice, and he often avoided her completely.
Ruby didn’t care about his attitude; she stubbornly refused to leave the Military Camp.
Life in the Military Camp was dull and monotonous, populated mostly by men. Occasionally, a few soldiers’ wives visited, but they would only stay for a day or two before leaving. Ruby felt embarrassed to intrude on the precious little time these families had together, so, with nothing else to do, she began washing clothes for the soldiers.
She was a lady of leisure who had never lifted a finger in her previous twenty-eight years; when had she ever washed clothes? The soldiers felt awkward letting her help with the laundry.
"Sister-in-law, you don’t need to do this. We can wash our own clothes. Look, it’s cold outside, and your delicate hands, white as jade, are made for typing on a computer, not for enduring the bone-chilling cold water. We really appreciate it, but if you get cold, our commanding officer’s face will be darker than the night sky."
In the Courtyard of the Military Camp, several soldiers firmly held onto their dirty clothes to prevent Ruby from taking them. Andrew Carter, who had previously tried to help Ruby pick up paper scraps, was now smiling broadly at her.
"It’s okay, I’ll just help you wash the outerwear," Ruby said with a smile. She really was very bored. Besides, she was already this old and had never washed clothes before. During her first few days here, when she was suffering from altitude sickness, it was Marcel Horne who had secretly washed her clothes, hiding from everyone. Seeing how Marcel’s living conditions here were worlds apart from the big city, and since she loved Marcel, had run away from her wedding for him, and abandoned Glades Horne—who had always treated her well—she knew she had to learn to adapt to life in the army.
Being a soldier’s wife wasn’t easy!
But if she chose to be one, she had to do it properly.
How could a young lady of her background become a competent soldier’s wife without being tempered by hardship? Looking at reality, she knew that being a soldier’s wife wasn’t as blissful as described in novels. Instead, it involved shouldering the heavy burdens of the family: caring for the old and the young, earning money to support the family, doing laundry and cooking, swallowing grievances, and resolving difficulties all on her own. She had to handle everything, big or small.
Suddenly, a strong hand reached out from behind her and seized one of Ruby’s wrists. Marcel Horne’s cold, imposing presence washed over her like the thick frost of an early morning. "Come with me!"
