Ever since Adele Horne started working at her company, she had given up many bad habits. She went to work on time every day, stopped her wild nights out, and, by all accounts, shouldn’t have been dozing off during work hours.

Suddenly, Julia Bluen remembered something Adele had said to her half a month ago.

Adele’s hands trembled as she took the pregnancy test, her heart pounding with extreme nervousness.

Julia waited for her on the sofa, temporarily unable to focus on work.

Just as Adele was testing herself, Glades Horne happened to call. He said he was on his way to pick Julia up from work and take her home for a nourishing soup his mother had prepared for her.

"Glades, don’t come!"

Julia snapped without thinking, startling Glades on the other end of the line. He immediately asked, full of anxiety and concern, "Julia, tell me, what’s happened?" She had never used such an urgent, almost frightened tone with him before, as if she were terrified of him arriving.

"Adele, do you want to keep this child?" Julia finally asked after a long silence, sighing softly.

Adele didn’t answer. Her mind was a chaotic mess.

After thinking for a while, she finally looked at Julia and asked in anguish, "Sister-in-law, I don’t want to be pregnant before marriage. This child... I don’t want it." I don’t even know what the child’s father looks like. How could I possibly have a child for that stranger? Even though this child would be mine too, but...

Julia was momentarily lost for words.
