Primordial Expanse: I have the Strongest Talent!-Chapter 624: On the hunt
Currently, Alex’s ship was in a bad state, and it would take a while for the automated systems to repair what they could.
Unfortunately, amongst the long list of things that were broken were the long-range scanning and communications capabilities.
Alex wouldn’t be able to contact the rest of the Federation fleet, and especially the Jewel where Althea and the rest of the main forces were situated, so he had no other choice but to wait for the communication systems of his ship to be fixed before he gave any attempt at that.
But he wasn’t going to spend all his time sitting idly and waiting for something that might never come.
No! 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Captain Venn had already very bravely made it clear to him that there were still some remnants of the Lux still lingering in what was left of the New Dawn system.
It wasn’t a surprise for him either, since there was a war going on between them and the Federation forces at the time.
Their general had probably sent a signal before he made that last suicidal move in sending the sun into a supernova, warning all Lux ships to make a beeline in basically any direction that wasn’t towards the sun.
They were already on the losing side before this anyway, so a lot of them were already doing their best to retreat.
"They must be feeling real good for themselves at the moment. Despite the loss of their general, they successfully completed their mission."
Alex let out a deep breath.
"Unfortunately for them, I’m still around."

A thin layer of energy surrounded Alex’s body as he traversed through the void of space, protecting him from the vacuum surrounding him in all directions.
Of course, as a higher lifeform, he didn’t need to bother with such a protective barrier. But the sheer coldness of space was still uncomfortable even if it wasn’t deadly for him.
As he had a choice, he’d obviously choose to be comfortable at the expense of a tiny fraction of his energy being used up.
At the moment, his ship was incapacitated so he had to travel without it for the time being. Thankfully, he didn’t need to make any ftl jumps, so the speed of his body alone could handle it.
’Damn... I missed this feeling.’
Now that he was finally free from the confines of the Primordial Expanse, he could once again use his spatial detection to its full potential. Unlike Mira, his was useless anywhere but the main universe, so being able to finally use it again was a very welcome feeling for him.
After his latest rank up, his detection range had reached a point where he could feel any presences within an astonishing 500,000 kilometres.
Still, compared to the vastness of space, this was nothing. The area he was searching and scanning was once an entire Star System, which spanned over two dozen billion kilometres in diameter at its widest point.
Using his measly spatial detection for such a large search area like this was like looking for a needle in a planet sized haystack.
Well... multiple needles in this case.
The only upside for Alex at the moment was that he was fairly certain that many Lux ships were still within the area.
They were just as susceptible to the effects of the supernova as his ship was, so they were likely in just as bad, or even worse states than his own ship was.
It would be a while before any of them could get their ships back up and running again, giving him plenty of time to make his way around the system in search for any stragglers in the meantime.
His speed in space was far higher than he could ever achieve planetside. Thanks to no friction or air resistance slowing him down, his acceleration could theoretically never end as long as he kept supplying enough energy to keep it going.
Thanks to this, using his powerful King class B tier body to traverse through the space made him as fast as any decent ship not in ftl.
In a blink, he reappeared tens of thousands of kilometres away from his previous location, reorienting himself. He paused for a moment, scanning with his spatial perception again.
Still nothing.
"Tch..."
The Lux weren’t stupid. They were likely laying low while they repaired their own systems. If Alex were searching with his ship’s scanners, it would be hard to pick anything up.
But his spatial perception worked differently. It tracked any life signatures in his perception radius, regardless of any cloaking systems they may have on their ships.
After a few more jumps, he stopped.
His gaze snapped toward a region of space several hundred thousand kilometres away from him.
"... Found you."
He vanished once again.

The Lux cruiser drifted in silence, with its once pristine full now split open. Everyone left inside the ship were leisurely chatting amongst themselves and checking on the injured, disposing of any dead. The battle had been won, and despite the clear damages to their ship, they were still alive.
Even though the ship itself wouldn’t be capable of warping anymore as most of the damages were centred on their engines and propulsion, the ship’s engineers were swiftly working on repairing their communications systems so they could contact command to send a pickup their way.
Everyone aboard felt a sense of pride from their victory, but deep inside all felt a sense of apprehension.
After all, they had paid a heavy price for that victory. Their general had sacrificed his life to ensure the complete destruction of any of the filthy human presence in this section of the galaxy.
The only upside was that they had at least taken the enemy’s general with them.
"Any response from the engineers yet?" A lux officer asked his subordinate as he sipped on the Lux equivalent of expensive whiskey.
"Not yet, sir. They reported that it will take another 2 hours before the communication systems are fixed."
"Hmm. Notify me when—"
The ship shuddered.
"The fuck are those engineers doing!? We told them to fix the damn ship, not ensure its destruction!" The officer roared as his drink spilled all over himself.
But in spite of his anger, his subordinate’s face was drained of all colour, replaced with utter horror, staring behind his superior like he’d seen a ghost.
"Don’t think you’ve won just yet." A voice echoed out from behind the Lux officer, in a unrecognisable language.
But his face fell regardless.
The one thing he did recognise was the species of its owner.
Human.
