Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System-Chapter 1468: Aysel
Kent clearly didn’t know where the sudden interest in painting and calligraphy came from. He was only thinking about how to become famous when he lost track of time and found himself in this part of the city.
However, as he stood there, watching the thousands of paintings lined up on display, the same feeling he got when he held the sword for the first time seemed to crawl its way back into his heart.
Immediately, he could tell he had, at one point in time, fancied calligraphy and painting.
This means that one of his past incarnations had been a painter.
He, of course, ruled out Chaos, Jest, Faceless, the Ruthless Bandit, and even Kevin Sage. They aren’t the kind of people with an eye for painting or calligraphy.
This could only mean that out of the eight lives he had yet to know something of, one of them was a painter, and judging by the feeling he was getting as he stood there staring at the paintings, he knew without a shred of doubt that he was a very good painter.
He could see it clearly—most of the paintings on display are flawed. Some characters aren’t cleanly written, and most shocking of all was how there is no soul in anything he had seen so far.
Very shocking even was the feeling of intrigue and a bit of bias toward some of the paintings he was seeing. To him, some looked ugly, not because of their appearance but because of how he understood them.
Kent stood there for half an hour, admiring the arts with an open mind. This was also his way of making sure he actually had a good episode or a bad one.
For all he knew, this was merely a feeling of him liking something in a fleeting moment. He saw how Chaos fell in love with masquerade festivals after Elina forced him to attend a few.
What if this were one of those episodes?
Thankfully, even after an hour, he still could feel his understanding sharpening.
"Excuse me, big brother." Suddenly, a young lady with a rather large set of cute brown eyes tugged on Kent’s trousers, prompting him to look down.
When their gazes met, Kent felt an immediate attraction to the young lady. Seeing how short and petite she looked, he became interested in what she had to say.
Gaia and her band of troublemakers came to mind.
This young lady is a loli, as evidenced by her cute little appearance. Although she isn’t in any fancy clothing, her eyes and cute brown hair make her attractive.
Maybe it is just Kent’s bias toward lolis. He finds them cute and fun.
"Hi there, little lady, what is your name?"
"Aysel is Aysel."
Kent furrowed his brow, a smile appearing on his face. ’Just like Gaia and the others, she also speaks in the third person.’
His smile blossomed when this thought came to mind. He just doesn’t understand why, but after meeting Gaia, Akira, and Dori, his life was filled with people like them.
There is Li Hua, whom he saved back on Planet Sonox when he had just arrived in the cultivation world after his death on Earth.
There was also Yuna and Purity. Now, Aala and Vexthra’s sister, Risana, had joined them. He has eight lolis in his life, and when Nana is done merging back with her other parts, it will be nine lolis.
Looking at Aysel’s cute eyes, the urge to kidnap her flashed through his mind, but he smiled it off.
"I am Jaqen, nice meeting you." Kent extended his hand for a handshake, which Aysel accepted.
"Aysel saw that big brother was admiring the paintings. Aysel happens to sell paintings, so if big brother wants to buy some, he can follow me."
She started walking away, dragging Kent with her. Although she said he could follow her, she made it so he had no choice but to follow her.
As they moved forward, Kent could see the other sellers sighing in his direction. It appeared this little girl is quite popular, and perhaps this isn’t her first rodeo.
The mere fact that she came to him and even insisted that he follow her made him realize she wanted him to buy from her. Being a lolita lover, he said nothing and followed her.
A few minutes later, they arrived in front of a rundown store where two paintings of a mountain range and sunset clouds, and three calligraphies that read, "Mountain, Tomorrow, and Hope," hung at the entrance.
Kent didn’t know why he was brought there, but when his eyes landed on the mountain painting, a feeling of attraction formed in his heart.
A couple of minutes ago, he had looked at over 300 paintings, but this was the first one to catch his attention. It is ugly, but he sensed a genuine attraction to it.
It felt strange, but he didn’t hate the feeling.
Aysel pulled him closer, and that was when his eyes landed on a young lady painting inside the store. When she saw Aysel pull Kent into the store, a sigh escaped her lips.
"Aysel, didn’t I warn you against dragging strangers to our store against their wishes?"
"But big sister, big brother here loves painting, so Aysel brought him to buy one or else we can’t eat di—" Before she could end her sentence, the lady moved and covered her lips with her paint-stained hand, flashing an awkward smile at Kent.
"Sorry about that." She pulled Aysel away, leaving Kent standing there alone. Inwardly, a smile filled his heart. Aysel made him recall when he first met Li Hua.
The little human forced him to buy her cupcakes, citing that she needed the money to take care of her grandma. Although the lady covered Aysel’s mouth before she could end her sentence, Kent knew what she wanted to say.
She needed the money so they could eat dinner.
"Sorry about that. Aysel is always dragging people here to buy my paintings," the lady said, hiding Aysel behind her.
She poked her head out and spoke, "But big sister’s paintings are beautiful. Aysel just wants people to see and buy them."
"That doesn’t mean you should drag them here. How many times have I warned you against that behaviour?"
Aysel sighed and bent her head down. "Sorry, big brother. Aysel shouldn’t have dragged you here by force."
"No need to apologize, Aysel. If you hadn’t brought me here, I wouldn’t have seen this beautiful painting," Kent said and moved toward the painting of the mountain.
Aysel jumped from her sister’s back and rushed to Kent’s side. "Really? Does Big Brother want to buy it? It is just 1000 spirit stones."
Kent chuckled, turning to look at the beautiful, big-browed eyes on Aysel. "Why not? I have 1000 spirit stones to spare."
Aysel beamed with joy. She ran back to her sister, who earlier opposed her stance on Aysel’s behaviour, but now smiled when she heard Kent say he wanted to buy the painting.
Kent turned and faced her. "However, if you can tell me the story behind this painting, I will add another 1000 spirit stones."
"Really?" This time, it was Aysel’s sister’s turn to exclaim in a stunned tone.
"Yeah. I happen to have recently found a liking for painting and calligraphy, so telling me the inspiration behind it will make me super happy."
Kent didn’t know whether his offer would be accepted. However, he really wants to understand what the feeling he felt in his chest was. The only way to do that is to understand where the inspiration came from.
Thankfully, Aysel and her sister wanted the money, so she accepted his offer.
