144 Wavering Feelings

Rong Yue woke up after a good night’s rest and walked out of her room.

“Good morning,” she said to Qin Yichen while rubbing her eyes sleepily. Despite the time, he was already seated by the dining table and working.

After spending some time with him in his own house, she already knew that unlike her, Qin Yichen was an early riser.

“Mmm, teacher Lu and Wu Hao have called you several times,” Qin Yichen said, passing her the phone.

When he got back last night, he realized that she had gone to bed and had to force her awake to have a proper meal.

Right after eating, she had gone back to sleep immediately leaving her phone in the living room.

Even though he didn’t want to intrude on her privacy, the calls had been consistent. Also, as he saw that it was those two, he ended up picking up the call and talking to them.

“Ahh! Why didn’t you wake me then?” Rong Yue asked as she picked the phone up and saw the numerous unanswered calls.

There were also some calls where their names and numbers weren’t showing and hadn’t been picked up. Just by looking at the time, Rong Yue was able to tell who had called.

“You still have about an hour and a half before it starts, I’ll make breakfast while you get ready.”

Without waiting for her reply, Qin Yichen closed his laptop and stood up.

Last night, he had gotten a meal they could eat immediately but with the sharp taste in location, he had gotten groceries as he felt that changing her food type when she was preparing for the competition wasn’t the best thing.

Rong Yue’s response was delayed and she only nodded by the time Qin Yichen was already in the kitchen.

She called back a number and a now familiar voice rang out on the first ring.

“Boss Yue! I called several times from last night!” Feng Buyan exclaimed.

“Hmmm, I was on a flight the whole time,” as she wasn’t sure of the timeline, she had avoided using her phone on the plane.

“What’s the matter?”

“I’m done studying the whole source code and all that you sent me, is it okay to start working immediately?” Feng Buyan asked with the excitement of someone that had just started work.

Rong Yue was someone that was used to this kind of thing as she had experience with these tech geeks.

In the last six months, she had worked with more than ten online and knew how they used to be when they just start.

“What of your team? You would soon find the work overwhelming. I’ll send your next task. When you send your team, you will start real work then.” She told him, placed the phone in hands-free, and went to a certain app on her phone.

The fox alliance loaded very quickly and several messages came in through. After glancing and seeing that there was nothing that needed emergency response, she closed it back.

As she was doing that, Feng Buyan was explaining his difficulty with finding people.

She remembered that he was bad with people, after all, in his last life, he had suffered two cases of being cheated out of his intellectual works. And her only plan wasn’t to only work with him but to help him develop those things even faster in this life.

“Go and recruit people online, it’s your team so it has to be people that you feel comfortable working with. If you are done, I’ll look through it.”

Without giving him any chance to complain, she ended the call.

She replied to some emails and then plugged in her phone before going to get ready.

By the time she was done dressing up, Qin Yichen had set the table with breakfast.

“The bag you packed is so small, I doubt you packed any jacket. I got you one to use for your stay here as it’s relatively colder by this time here,”

Rong Yue looked at the man like he was some nagging wife and eventually nodded her head in understanding.

Her mood was solemn like she was tired without even starting her day but the moment she ate the first mouthful of food, her eyes lit up and her mood immediately relaxed from the burst of flavors in her mouth.

“Do you like it?” Qin Yichen asked with his gaze still fixed on her.

Rong Yue nodded sharply and went back to eating. The pasta had been cooked with a lot of seafood and Chinese spices while he had cooked the chicken and duck into smaller sizes.

“Frozen foods don’t taste as good, if they are in smaller sizes, you would be able to enjoy it better,” He explained since he knew that she preferred her meat tender on the inside but crispy on the outside.

With the style he had used, however, the entire meat was tender.

“It’s okay. Thank you,” Rong Yue said with a sincere smile. If it was at first when she didn’t know his identity, she would have just felt grateful.

But knowing that this was a man that stood at the summit of this world, made each of his actions stand out even more and it if it wasn’t for the vow she had made to herself, perhaps, she would have already accepted his interest already.

At the same time, it also made her respect him and a part of her envied the woman that would get to stay with her till forever.

Perhaps he would not break her trust?

A part of her also imagined what the future could hold for them if she eventually let go of her barriers. And so the entire breakfast, Qin Yichen found himself staring at her and trying to read her emotions as he found her gaze on him weird.

“Don’t let your thoughts run wild, I’m only taking care of you because of your mother’s request.” Qin Yichen said after breakfast.

Being someone that had an IQ that was comparable to what she had, it was impossible that after watching her lost in thoughts for the last ten minutes, he wouldn’t guess her emotions.

“You should go join them earlier, since they haven’t met you, don’t go late.” He told her while passing her a nude jacket.

Rong Yue nodded in understanding and took the jacket that was similar to one of the ones she had back at home.
