Pregnant Cultivator, Doted by Big Boss-Chapter 72 - 70: Her Spirit Root Bloomed Another Flower
After her breakthrough, Celeste Grant immediately sat down in meditation, continuing to absorb nature’s spiritual energy to cultivate and solidify her new realm.
At that moment, all the Spiritual Energy in the Secret Realm surged toward her. Celeste Grant was wreathed in Spiritual Energy, her aura ethereal and transcendent. Anyone seeing her would have assumed she was from an Immortal Sect. Who could have guessed she was mixed up with The Demonic Sects?
The Spiritual Energy continued to pour in.
The Spirit Root growing from Celeste Grant’s head, which originally had only one flower, now sprouted a second one beside it. There were now two small, red flowers. A gentle stream of water flowed around the blossoms as her Cultivation rose steadily, not stopping until it reached the Mid Stage Golden Core.
Celeste Grant’s hands moved, forming a seal. She absorbed all the surrounding nature’s spiritual energy into her body, only stopping when she felt it was brimming to capacity.
When she looked within her Dantian, she saw a new addition: a pearl-like orb emitting a faint white light. It was as smooth and lustrous as jade.
This was her Golden Core.
She could feel it was the source of her power. The next stage was Breaking the Golden Core into Infant, though she was still a long way from reaching the Nascent Soul Stage. Even so, with her current Cultivation at the Golden Core Stage, she now had some ability to protect herself in the dog-eat-dog Cultivation World.
’Come to think of it, it really hasn’t been easy.’
She remembered when she first transmigrated to this world. Because she was unable to practice Cultivation, her status in the family had been abysmal.
As the villainous supporting character, she’d faced immense hostility from those who sided with the heroine. Thankfully, her parents had always protected her. Back then, Celeste Grant had kept a low profile and avoided the heroine, living a life of constant caution.
And yet, even then, Jocelyn Grant wouldn’t leave her in peace.
Only Celeste Grant knew how hard her journey had been. No one understood better than her what it felt like to live every day with your life on the line.
Even showing up, pregnant and with nowhere else to turn, on the doorstep of her child’s father had been a gamble. Fortunately, things were finally turning around. She had finally overcome her hardships.
Now, she was strong. It felt like the clouds had parted to reveal the sun.
A sunbeam streamed through the large hole the Heavenly Tribulation had torn in the ceiling, bathing her in light.
She held out her hand.
And then she smiled.
"My good fortune is only just beginning."
’From now on, things will only get better for me.’
Celeste Grant looked up at the gaping hole, still a bit shaken. This was The Underpalace, a considerable distance beneath the palace on the surface. She never expected the Heavenly Tribulation could strike all the way down here.
She felt a slight tremor in the ground.
Her brow furrowed slightly.
’This Underpalace is about to collapse.’
Celeste Grant looked at the sword floating in the air above and held out her hand. "Come here, you."
The Immortal Sword: "..."
’If I go over just because you told me to, I’d look pretty pathetic!’
Its blade trembled once before it proudly ignored her.
Celeste Grant scratched her head.
’I’ve already broken through to the Golden Core Stage. Isn’t this sword supposed to acknowledge its master the moment that happens? Don’t tell me it won’t work just because it’s me. Does it have to be so biased?’
She glanced at the unconscious Jocelyn Grant in the distance and pointed. "Sweetie, don’t tell me you still want to follow that loser Jocelyn Grant? Look at you, such a beautiful sword. Now look at her pathetic state. Is she worthy of you? No, she’s not. One look and I can tell we’re fated to be together, so you should just come with me. I’m as beautiful as you are. The two of us, a woman and her sword, walking out into the world—now that’s what I call a power couple."
Apparently, the sword thought so too. When it first awakened, it had thought the first woman to arrive had decent talent. But this second one felt much better. Her Cultivation Talent left the first one in the dust.
And besides, she was better-looking.
Just as Celeste Grant was wondering if she’d have to take the sword by force, the Immortal Sword wobbled shyly, then shot over to hover in front of her with a SWOOSH.
The Immortal Sword: ’Well, since she’s being so sincere, I suppose I can reluctantly let her be my master.’
Celeste Grant: "..."
’I can’t believe I’m seeing pride and coyness from a sword. Fine. As long as it’s my sword, what’s wrong with it being a little arrogant?’
Celeste Grant smiled.
She reached out and grasped it.
The hilt was cool to the touch. The blade was a crystalline ice-blue; its feel was worthy of an Immortal Sword. She knew it—this sword was fated to be hers. It was meant to be her sword.
Holding the sword in one hand, she ran her fingers along the flat of the blade, then gave it a casual, flourishing twirl. The smile in her eyes deepened.
"A good sword."
The Immortal Sword vibrated slightly.
As if to say, ’She has good taste.’
The next moment, the sword nicked her finger, and a drop of Celeste Grant’s blood was absorbed into the blade.
The Immortal Sword had acknowledged its master. Instantly, an icy aura radiated out from her.
’Looking at this, the next thing that’s going to happen is a beam of light shooting up to the heavens. After all, that’s how it always goes in novels and TV shows. Whenever some treasure appears, you get these kinds of special effects.’
’I can’t have everyone knowing an Immortal Sword has just appeared in the world.’
Thinking of this, Celeste Grant reached out and poked the blade. "We need to keep a low profile," she said. "If you glow so brightly that everyone finds out about you, they’ll all try to steal you."
The Immortal Sword trembled once and retracted its aura, instantly shrinking to the size of a hairpin. It then found a spot in her hair and secured itself there.
Celeste Grant was surprised.
’It can do that too?’
Celeste Grant reached up, touched it, and praised, "Not bad. From now on, we’ll be unstoppable together. Since you’re my sword now, I’ll give you a name. From this day forward, you’ll be called the Primordial Sword."
The sword let out a hum, indicating its satisfaction.
This sword had birthed a Sword Spirit, but the spirit was still too weak to manifest a physical form.
’Wait... my Spirit Root seems to have popped out of my head again. I could already control it freely before this; it didn’t usually appear during normal Cultivation.’
’But this time, absorbing nature’s spiritual energy to break through to the Golden Core, the Spirit Root came out on its own. I’ve discovered that leaving it out gives a bonus to my Spiritual Energy absorption speed.’
’So that’s it. I never expected my Spirit Root had this function. Perfect.’
"Wait... what’s this?"
She reached up. Was that more than one flower she was touching?
Celeste Grant conjured a Water Mirror, gazed into it, and her eyes widened.
"What the hell? I’ve sprouted another flower."
’Having flowers grow on my head was one thing, but now there’s another one?’
’I’m sure I’m not some plant spirit that’s come to life; I’m a Human Cultivator. So, there’s only one explanation for this: I’ve gotten stronger. I have a feeling that future breakthroughs will probably cause more flowers to bloom.’
"Hahaha."
Celeste Grant stared at her reflection, finding her own appearance hilarious. ’From now on, I’d better not let these flowers show in front of other people. Even if it is a Mutated Spiritual Root, this is just too ridiculous.’
’Thankfully, I can retract this Spirit Root. Otherwise, I couldn’t possibly go on living, walking around with two flowers on my head.’
The walls began to crack, and pillars collapsed.
The tremors in The Underpalace grew stronger.
Debris constantly fell from the ceiling above her.
She dodged a falling pillar.
Celeste Grant muttered under her breath.
"First, I need to get out of here."
Just as she was about to fly away, she caught a glimpse of Jocelyn Grant in a corner not far off.
