Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne-Chapter 74: Stardust President
Stardust Entertainment.
Joanna’s office was pitifully small compared to President Sinclair’s. When Riley Perry arrived, Joanna was sorting through scripts.
"Nana, I’m here!"
Joanna was pleasantly surprised. "Didn’t I tell you to rest at home for a couple of days? What are you doing at the company?"
Riley Perry tossed her purse onto the sofa, then threw herself down after it. "I wanted to see if there were any suitable projects to pick up. Also, I want to find out who exactly is trying to blacklist me."
At the mention of this, Joanna’s expression turned serious. "I was just about to talk to you about that. I got word from the president last night. It’s the top brass at Stellux who want to blacklist you. Tell me the truth, when did you offend someone from Stellux?"
Riley Perry asked, "The Valentine Family’s Stellux?"
"Is there any other?"
"Do you know who specifically?"
"I only found out that the order came from their upper management. I don’t know who specifically."
Riley Perry said in a relaxed tone, "Then let’s investigate. I’d also like to know who I’ve managed to offend."
’At least now I know it’s someone from Stellux going after me. This trip to the company wasn’t a waste after all!’
"By the way, Director Warren’s adventure variety show is about to start filming. I called him yesterday, and he said his decision to have you as a guest won’t change."
"Isn’t Director Warren afraid of offending people?"
Joanna crossed her legs. "You don’t know, do you? Director Warren comes from a family of influential officials..."
Riley Perry gave a slight laugh. This industry was just that realistic. Only those with power and influence could do as they pleased.
’She was being targeted, plotted against, and blacklisted simply because her status was too low. She had always known this!’
It’s just that back when she was in The Elysian Sect, she had been the one with power and influence. Everyone around her had tried to curry favor with her. Now that the tables had turned, she wouldn’t complain. If you’re not happy with your situation, you work to change it. Complaining is useless.
’I have to fight my way to the top! Accept fate, but never yield to it—that’s my philosophy!’
"I’ll have to treat Director Warren to a meal someday. I need to thank him in person."
’She would repay those who wronged her, and she would also repay those who helped her.’
"So when do we sign the contract, and when does the show start filming?"
Joanna asked, "So you’re agreeing to do this variety show? It’s an adventure show, you know. It won’t be any easier than that farming show. Can you handle it?"
Riley Perry gave a seductive smile. "How can a woman ever say she can’t? As long as it makes money, I can handle it."
Joanna was amused by her. "Alright, alright. I’ll contact Director Warren later to sign the contract. If all goes well, filming should start next Monday, so be prepared."
"Okay then. I’m going to my class. I’ll leave the rest to you, Nana."
’Heh, the little thing is pretty ambitious. If she’d had this drive before, she would’ve been an A-lister ages ago.’ 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
’But with a face like hers, it’s never too late as long as she works hard.’
’I still need to get more projects for Riley Perry. Director Warren’s show starts next Monday, and today’s only Wednesday. Can’t waste any time.’
And so, right after Riley Perry left, Joanna took the president’s private elevator up to the twenty-eighth floor.
The President’s Office.
Thomas Lynch was reviewing a document when Joanna entered without knocking. He frowned slightly.
When he saw her brazenly lock the door behind her, Thomas Lynch couldn’t help but purse his lips.
Joanna looked at the man before her. They had met in college. Back then, Thomas Lynch was devastatingly handsome. So many girls at school had a crush on him. In their freshman year alone, she had personally witnessed more than a dozen girls confess their feelings to him, but he rejected every single one without exception.
In the summer of their sophomore year, their paths finally crossed. He was drugged at a party, and she took the opportunity to drag him into a lounge and have her way with him.
’Who could blame her? He was just too handsome, and she couldn’t resist.’
After that, somehow, the two of them maintained that kind of relationship. They weren’t boyfriend and girlfriend, nor were they dating with the intention of marriage. They were, simply put, friends with benefits.
When they graduated from college, he went on a blind date, and she happened to run into him. And then, they went their separate ways.
There was no argument, no reason given. He looked for her, but she had left Dragonspire, and so the two of them naturally drifted apart.
Later, the Joyce Family fell on hard times. The former Miss Joyce could no longer live a life of leisure, so she got her agent license and entered the industry.
She just never expected that their ill-fated connection wasn’t over. Not long after she joined a small company, it was acquired, and she became an agent at Stardust.
"What is it now?"
Joanna fluffed her voluminous, wavy hair, her hands already unbuttoning her suit jacket. "Can’t I come see you even if there’s nothing wrong? My dear, great Mr. Lynch!"
Thomas Lynch’s expression didn’t change. His gaze was fixed on her hands, showing no intention of stopping her.
"What do you want this time?" His words sounded extremely impatient, but his expression said otherwise.
Joanna threw her discarded suit jacket forward, and it landed right on Thomas Lynch’s head. He sighed in resignation, took the jacket off his head, and placed it gently on the desk. "Other agents send their artists to the beds of investors for resources. You, on the other hand, do the exact opposite. You come crawling into bed yourself whenever you want something for your artist."
Joanna had already taken off her suit pants and thrown them at Thomas Lynch again. This time, he caught them. Her red lace thong was now exposed, and he didn’t want his view obstructed by her pants again.
"So, are you going to give it to me or not? My Riley is so beautiful, she deserves to be famous, she deserves to be a star, and she deserves to make tons and tons of money. No one is going to harm her!"
Thomas Lynch’s answer was to stare at her camisole. Joanna knew him all too well; she was perfectly clear on his preferences. Her 36Ds were his favorite.
She yanked off the camisole, revealing a sexy lace bra of the same color, then sauntered over to the man with her pale cleavage on full display and sat on his lap.
"I have a meeting in half an hour."
Joanna replied, "...Should I put my clothes back on then?"
’...Like hell you will!’
Thomas Lynch silently picked up his phone. Two seconds later, the call connected. "Postpone the meeting by half an hour." He hung up.
Joanna was already unbuckling his belt. "Tsk, an hour? Are you sure?"
Thomas Lynch was silent for a moment before saying, "Put one on."
"We’re out."
"How is that possible? Didn’t we just buy a new box two days ago? You used them all already?"
"Mhm."
"Then we won’t use one. It’s my safe period anyway."
An hour later, Thomas Lynch left for the meeting room with his secretary. Joanna, having gotten what she wanted, headed to the performance studio to find Riley Perry, her seven-centimeter heels clicking against the floor.
The class was still in session, so she wasn’t in a hurry. She sat on a bench outside the classroom and waited, taking the opportunity to contact a magazine’s staff to schedule an appointment.
After hanging up, she received a text message.
It was from Thomas Lynch’s secretary: Agent Joyce, the president asked me to send you his schedule for the next few days.
