Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne-Chapter 66: Buying a House
Riley Perry’s eyes instantly lit up. "Thank you so much, Assistant Hayes! I’ll have a glass of watermelon juice and a glass of orange juice."
Assistant Hayes promptly went out to prepare the juices.
When he came back in, Cole Sinclair shot him a look that was hard to put into words. An outsider might have thought Riley Perry was his boss, not the other way around.
"Mr. Sinclair, are you ready?"
Cole Sinclair closed the file he’d just finished, then went to the lounge. After washing his hands, he sat on the sofa where Riley Perry had already laid out their meal. "Mr. Sinclair, hurry up! Oh, and which juice do you want?"
Cole Sinclair glanced at her. "Are you sure you’re really letting me choose?"
’He didn’t need to think about it to know she’d ordered two glasses because she wanted to try both flavors.’
Her intentions read, Riley Perry dropped the pretense. "I don’t care. I’m drinking both. You can have the leftovers."
’Cole Sinclair tugged at his tie. He was the president of the Sinclair Group, a man worth untold billions. Before, he could at least share a meal with her. But now? Now he’d been reduced to drinking her leftovers?!’
"Should we get some strawberry and peach juice too?"
"Really? But wouldn’t four glasses be a bit much? I’m worried you won’t be able to finish them all."
Cole Sinclair was speechless. "...Have them bring a small half-glass of each. As it happens, I forgot to drink water this morning."
And so, a secretary soon delivered two more glasses of juice. Riley Perry beamed, happily planting a loud smack of a kiss on Cole Sinclair’s cheek before digging into her lunch.
"Mr. Sinclair, the food at your company is delicious! You’re so lucky to get to eat this every day."
The shrimp was delicious, so she peeled one with her chopsticks and placed it in Cole Sinclair’s bowl. "You should try it. It’s really good, and the shrimp is so fresh."
’Cole Sinclair ate the shrimp and took a sip of the watermelon juice she’d clearly abandoned. He was inwardly speechless. Weren’t other sugar babies always demanding their patrons take them to high-end hotels and exclusive clubs, eating food that was expensive but not necessarily good?’
’But here she was, perfectly happy with the company cafeteria food. Was she serious?’
"If you like the food, you can come by more often."
’It seemed that in all the time they’d been together, aside from her allowance, he’d only bought her a car and some clothes—and he’d been the one to initiate all of it.’
"I’m going to look at some apartments this afternoon, then I’ll pick you up when you get off work."
"You’re buying an apartment? I can just sign the current one over to you."
Riley Perry arched an eyebrow at him. "No, thanks. I’m buying an apartment so my family can move in, and that one isn’t suitable."
’It wasn’t that the apartment itself was unsuitable, but that it was the place *they* shared. Having her family move in there would be impossible to explain.’
"What kind of place are you looking for, then?"
Riley Perry: "Just a standard large apartment, big enough for my family of four. I’ve already picked out a few online, and an agent is showing me them this afternoon. If I find one I like, I’ll close the deal."
’And it has to be near Kingsbridge University. Her younger brother’s top choice is the same as hers, and his grades are pretty good.’
Cole Sinclair frowned. ’Did this woman not get it? He was offering to give her an apartment, and she actually turned him down!’
"Then have Samson Sinclair go with you. If you need anything, just have him take care of it."
Riley Perry wiggled her eyebrows at Cole Sinclair, her voice laced with amusement. "Mr. Sinclair, you’re being too good to me. How do you want me to repay you?"
’This is what she calls being good to her?’
"Just stay by my side and be loyal. Don’t betray me, and I’ll treat you even better in the future."
His words seemed to hint at something, but Riley Perry didn’t dwell on it.
"Okay, you got it. This humble servant will be sure to serve my lord well and keep you satisfied in every way."
’Cole Sinclair’s lips curled into a smirk. ’She really is an actress through and through,’ he thought, ’already jumping into her ’humble servant’ and ’my lord’ roles.’’
’Still, it was a refreshing change!’
After they finished their pleasant lunch, someone from the secretary’s office came to clear away the dishes.
Cole Sinclair was about to look over some more files, but Riley Perry pulled him back. "My dear lord, you need to rest after a meal. Unless it’s a life-or-death emergency, you should take a short nap. A good rest will leave you refreshed, and you’ll be twice as productive afterward.
Come on, come on, this humble servant will now escort you to your nap."
"I never take afternoon naps."
Riley Perry put her hands on her hips and resorted to scare tactics. "Just because you’ve never done it doesn’t make it right. Besides, you were up all night. You have to take a nap at noon. You don’t want to start losing your hair and going bald at such a young age, do you?"
President Sinclair looked at Riley Perry helplessly. "Fine, fine, I’ll rest. But you have to stay with me."
Her alluring eyes danced as she gave him a playful look. "I can do that. ’Accompanying you to bed’ is one of my services, after all."
Cole Sinclair was left speechless.
Her words ignited a fire in Cole Sinclair. He swept her into his arms and carried her into the private lounge. If that was the case, he wasn’t about to hold back.
As she was tossed onto the large bed in the lounge, Riley Perry secretly congratulated herself for using her Spiritual Power to restore her body before leaving home. Otherwise, there was no way she could handle this!
...
Cole Sinclair actually did take a nap. After their... activities, they cleaned up, and he slept for about half an hour. Riley Perry didn’t go back to sleep, of course; she had an appointment to see some apartments and didn’t want to break it.
After bidding farewell to her patron, Riley Perry got into Samson Sinclair’s car to go apartment hunting. She ended up buying a large, 180-plus-square-meter apartment. She chose it because it was the closest one to Kingsbridge University, the renovations were recent, and it was move-in ready—all it needed was furniture.
Given her current savings, spending twenty or thirty million on an apartment was no big deal.
She signed the contract and paid, leaving the agent to handle the rest of the paperwork. Riley Perry was back at the Sinclair Group before five o’clock.
In the office, Cole Sinclair had just hung up the phone.
"Is everything taken care of?"
Riley Perry replied cheerfully, "All done. The renovations are quite new, so I just need to get some furniture and it’ll be ready to move into.
Oh, right, Mr. Sinclair, a lot of people were staring at me when I came in. Did I cause some kind of trouble for you?"
Cole Sinclair’s eyes glinted.
’Ever since Riley Perry’s accident on set, he had done a lot of things he’d never done before.’ 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
’For example, he’d created a Weibo account to follow Riley Perry and even joined her fan club. Taking things a step further, he’d also used a burner account to join the Sinclair Group’s employee chat.’
’His little darling had no idea, but the moment she’d stepped through the company’s front door, the employee group chats had blown up.’
’The two receptionists at the front desk were praising her looks to high heaven, calling them a match made in heaven. The story of how they met and fell in love already had at least twenty different versions circulating. He had to admit, their imaginations were running wild!’
’What left him most speechless was that his ’good’ assistant couldn’t even go handle a property transfer without stopping to gossip in the group chat. Without his nonsense, the office chatter wouldn’t be nearly this frenzied.’
"What are you talking about? They were probably just looking because you’re pretty. By the way, some friends invited me to dinner tonight. You should come with me."
’The main reason was that those guys’ grapevine was incredibly fast. Riley had only been at the company for two hours when they’d gotten wind of it, and now they were demanding to meet the "divine beauty" who had managed to pull him down from his pedestal.’
