Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You-Chapter 476: She’s Marrying Someone Else
The meal was finished quickly.
"Julian, come with me," Caleb Lawson said to Julian Lawson.
Julian Lawson nodded and followed Caleb Lawson to the study.
Caleb studied Julian’s expression carefully.
After pondering, he finally spoke up.
"Julian, Serena is getting married to that boy from the Hawthorne Family tomorrow. Try to take it easy," Caleb said. "It’s okay if you don’t go to the office lately, stay home and rest for a few days."
Julian suddenly lifted his head and looked out of the window.
Caleb, uncertain of what Julian was looking at, followed his gaze.
Then he realized Julian was looking at the bright moon in the sky.
His moon.
And tomorrow, it would belong to someone else.
Just as Caleb was about to say something, Julian lowered his head.
"Grandpa, I’m a bit tired; I’ll go rest now," Julian said.
"Oh, alright..." Caleb nodded.
Julian left the main building.
Then he headed towards his residence at Moonlight Manor.
Walking through the forest.
The moonlight sprinkled down gently.
He remembered it was here where Serena slapped him.
Because he accused her of using a child as a ploy to get him back to the old house.
Later, she got drunk after drinking and catching a cold, and at that time, she wasn’t fully recovered, so she got inebriated.
He carried her back to his place.
This was the path.
Julian walked step by step to the door, pressed the fingerprint lock, and entered the hallway.
He looked at the wall beside him.
Back then, he pinned her here and kissed her.
"Bang!"
Julian turned on the light in the house.
No one had lived here for a long time, but the cleaning staff came regularly, so it was still clean.
Julian returned to the master bedroom.
When they were together, they always stayed in the master bedroom.
He lay on the bed, staring at the pale ceiling.
On countless days and nights, they had lain on this bed. The last time, she cried here.
She said she felt he was dirty.
Now she was going to marry someone else.
Tomorrow, she and Silas Hawthorne would have their wedding.
Let everyone witness them becoming a couple.
Just like he and she once did.
His heart ached so intensely that he could hardly breathe.
...
Night gradually deepened.
Serena escorted Silas Hawthorne to the door, with the petite Seraphina at her side.
"I’m heading back now," Silas Hawthorne said softly to Serena, "I’ll come pick you up in the morning."
Serena smiled and nodded: "Okay, be careful on your way."
People were bidding farewell, Serena’s family team here, accompanying the group that would go with Silas Hawthorne to pick up the bride in the morning.
Serena held Seraphina’s hand, watching Silas Hawthorne as he walked to the car, looking back every few steps.
"Stop looking, or you won’t be able to leave tonight!" Jasper Ford said grumpily, tapping Silas Hawthorne.
Everyone burst out laughing, and Silas’s face also grew suspiciously red.
He really was like a young boy.
Serena and Bianca Lynch joined in the laughter at him.
Finally, they reached the car, and Silas Hawthorne waved to her.
Serena also raised her hand to wave back.
As Silas Hawthorne’s car disappeared around the corner, Serena stayed there for a moment, then led Seraphina inside.
"Already missing Silas Hawthorne?" Bianca Lynch teased from the side.
"Yes, missing him," Serena said, raising her chin proudly.
"Oh, Serena, you’re so assertive now!" Bianca Lynch began tickling Serena.
The two of them were caught up in playful antics.
...
They chatted for quite a while before heading to their respective rooms.
But Serena found it hard to sleep.
She first checked on the sleeping Seraphina, then ran to Bianca Lynch’s room and woke her up.
"Serena!" Bianca mumbled sleepily, giving her a glare, "Why aren’t you asleep this late?"
"Bianca, I can’t sleep," Serena said.
"Why can’t you sleep?" Bianca’s eyelids were drooping.
"I’m a little nervous," Serena admitted.
Bianca gave her a sideways glance but said nothing further.
"It’s different," Serena, knowing Bianca was going to say she’s been married once before, questioned why she’d be nervous.
Bianca lay down, saying, "So tell me, what’s different?"
Serena lay beside Bianca, staring at the ceiling.
"The last time I got married, it felt like just going through the motions," Serena said.
"What motions?" Bianca muttered.
"Well, everyone knew that wedding was to bring good fortune," Serena said softly, "Even I knew." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Everyone was rushing the process, not caring too much about the details."
"Hearing it so often, I hypnotized myself too."
Serena recalled many things.
For a woman, a wedding is very important and sacred. Back then, she also had expectations for her wedding.
So, even though many details were rudimentary, some even sloppy, she tried to surprise herself.
Putting on the ring was supposed to be a lifelong promise.
Walking towards Julian Lawson at the altar meant marrying him.
Having a marital home meant it was their home.
But throughout the process, countless people told her, "Don’t care too much, the Old Master won’t last long."
"Serena, right now, the most important thing is the Old Master’s health."
"Serena, you’re sensible and understanding, aren’t you?"
Even back then, the groom, Julian Lawson, told her the same.
Despite buying her an expensive wedding dress and setting off fireworks throughout the city for her, he still wanted her to be sensible.
That wedding, from start to finish, seemed like she was the only one genuinely serious and longing for it.
And so, she felt a bit sad.
To avoid showing it, to keep herself from feeling too upset, she told herself that she agreed to the wedding for good fortune.
With the ring, the dress, and the marital home, she married him and shouldn’t care too much.
So that wedding, just like that, ended in a muddled and hasty way.
"But this time, there are lots of details," she said, while Bianca, beside her, was dozing off.
"What details..." Bianca was almost asleep.
"Silas Hawthorne prepared everything, a bespoke wedding dress, personally flew abroad to persuade Lady Maysa, considering both my bridal and pickup ceremonies, he bought this villa. He even gave me his assets, but I didn’t take them, so it turned into..."
Recently, she was busy as he personally oversaw all the wedding preparations. Especially placing her father’s photo at the wedding, she felt his dedication.
"This time, it feels like a real wedding, so I’m nervous," Serena confessed.
But there was no response.
Serena turned to see Bianca had fallen asleep.
Checking the time, it was already 2 AM.
Serena didn’t wake Bianca again; she got up, tucked Bianca in, and returned to her bedroom.
She lay down on the bed covered with "Double Happiness" symbols, staring at the ceiling, not knowing how much time passed before she fell asleep.
