Chapter 471: Chapter 471: I Am Her Mother, Her Only Family

"No." Serena smiled.

The elevator arrived, and Serena waved to Joanne Zink before entering the elevator with Raine.

The elevator doors slowly closed, taking Serena and Raine down to the ground floor.

Serena quickly returned to the car; she got in first and didn’t let the driver and Raine in.

She found some paper and a pen, wrote down what she had just noted, then tore off a few sheets and placed them in her bag.

After doing all this, Serena finally breathed a sigh of relief, looking at herself in the car’s rearview mirror, feeling slightly reassured.

Next March.

Old Master Zink was not very clear about what it was, but it seemed important.

Serena clutched the bag tightly to her chest.

All day long, Serena went about her work as usual, doing nothing out of the ordinary.

At noon, Silas came over to have lunch with her, and she didn’t say anything except that she went to the Zink Clan in the morning and cleared up the misunderstanding with Old Master Zink.

Silas had no comment on that either.

They had a normal lunch and worked as usual.

It seemed like nothing had changed.

A few days passed.

Now, their wedding was only a week away.

Everyone was busy.

That day, Serena brought a dress to Sheila Jenkins’ place.

She pressed the doorbell.

Sheila Jenkins came to open the door.

Serena handed her the dress and then said, "On the wedding day... you’ll be attending, right?"

Sheila Jenkins looked at the dress in her hands.

She recalled Silas Hawthorne’s visit a few days ago.

"Serena has always hoped to reconcile with you," Silas Hawthorne told her, "There’s been too much misunderstanding between you two, but regardless, you are mother and daughter."

She hadn’t spoken at that time.

"Maybe you have your own plans, but I still hope you can attend our wedding."

Sheila Jenkins didn’t agree or refuse that day.

Later, Susan Summers brought some desserts, all in festive colors.

"In a few days, it’ll be Miss Sheridan’s wedding. Recently, I’ve made some desserts that can be used at weddings. What do you think, Ms. Jenkins?"

Susan Summers did not notice Sheila Jenkins’ strange expression and carried on, "You are Miss Sheridan’s mother, maybe you can provide some insight."

Almost on a whim, Sheila Jenkins said, "I remember you have a daughter."

Susan Summers nodded, saying, "Yes, my daughter lives with me."

Susan Summers then began to imagine, "If my daughter gets married in the future, I would definitely dress up for the occasion and make lots and lots of cakes."

"Why?" Sheila Jenkins asked.

"No particular reason." Susan Summers finally looked a bit puzzled, "I’m her mother, her only family. Attending her wedding is only natural."

At the time, Susan Summers’ certainty was more dazzling than the sun.

Sheila Jenkins looked at the dress in her hands and nodded, "Alright."

She was staying at Hawthorne Manor, so attending the wedding seemed normal.

This is what Sheila Jenkins thought.

Serena breathed a sigh of relief, a smile appearing on her face.

Sheila Jenkins didn’t want to watch, so she took the dress back and closed the door.

But that didn’t stop Serena’s good mood.

Serena returned all the way to the place she shared with Silas Hawthorne.

In the evening, Serena went to the study.

Silas Hawthorne was looking at some documents.

Serena was sitting to the side, reading a book.

After a while, the sofa beside her sank slightly, and he sat next to her.

"Is everything taken care of?" Serena asked.

"Yes." Silas Hawthorne nodded.

Serena thought for a moment, then took out a piece of paper and handed it to him.

"Silas, can you check out this place for me? There will be a gathering there next March."

Seeing Silas take it, Serena continued, "Be very careful, it’s extremely dangerous, and no one else should know. The gathering next March requires an invitation to attend. If possible, Silas, help me get one."

"Make it two." Silas looked at her and said, "We’ll go together."

Serena smiled and nodded, "Okay."

Recently, because of the wedding, they had met a lot of people.

Many friends came over, as well as many partners, and many guests from abroad came early to have fun. There were people from all over, whether they were familiar or not.

And because they had a lot to do, they encountered all sorts of people.

So, it was only today that Serena took out the paper slip.

Thus, it was impossible to pinpoint the source of her information.

She had promised Old Master Zink not to reveal the source.

Serena looked at Silas Hawthorne beside her, only to see him looking at the note with a slight frown.

"What’s wrong?" Serena asked.

Silas Hawthorne, who had spent many years at sea, had some understanding of these places.

Silas gave Serena a curious look.

"Do you know this place?" Serena immediately asked.

"No, wait." Silas Hawthorne took out his phone and made a call, "Help me check out a place."

Serena watched him anxiously.

But what Silas reported wasn’t the address on the note, but somewhere else.

"Right."

Silas was still on the phone.

"Okay, got it."

Serena suppressed her inner anxiety and patiently waited.

When Silas hung up the phone, she immediately looked at him.

"Serena." Silas’ expression was serious, "I don’t know what’s on that archipelago, but not far from it, something happened."

"What happened?" Serena asked.

Silas said, "Serena, the current three major families in Aeston are us, the Lawson Family, and the Ford Family, and it is our generation that holds power now."

Serena nodded, that was Aeston’s current situation. Apart from the Ford Family still embroiled in internal strife, the other two families had clear leaders.

"And in our previous generation," Silas looked earnestly at Serena, "Your uncle was the standout, unmatched, almost leading the Sheridan Family to become the fourth power."

"Because your uncle’s brilliance was so overwhelming, it overshadowed another person."

Another person?

Serena stared intently at Silas.

Silas nodded and said, "Did Jasper Ford ever tell you why the Ford Family is in turmoil?"

Serena nodded. Among the Ford Family’s grandchildren, the three were born to different mothers, all sharing a father who loved women but not working, which led to Old Master Ford waiting to retire, anticipating one of the three to emerge as the leader.

Silas said, "Jasper Ford’s father is the second son of Old Master Ford. I’m talking about the eldest son."

Serena recalled.

She had heard that Old Master Ford’s eldest son was very talented but died young, leaving no offspring.

And the way that eldest son died...

Was by drowning under the sea.

Serena looked at Silas.

"Yes." Silas nodded solemnly, "Just now, I checked that location; it’s rumored to be the burial site of Old Master Ford’s eldest son."

"Years ago, while adventuring at sea, I heard this rumor."

"And this location." Silas tapped the note, "I don’t know the exact point yet, but I know the archipelago."

"It’s very close to Old Master Ford’s eldest son’s resting place, less than a hundred nautical miles away."
