Playing inventor in a cultivation world-Chapter 9: Suho Clan’s arrival
Meanwhile, that same evening, at the Patriatch Manor...
"Are you sure this is true?"
Gomen asked the scout before him with a serious expression.
"I wouldn’t dare to lie, Patriarch. I saw them."
"Alright, you can leave."
After the scout left, Gomen turned to the other Elders in the room. They were all seated around a large table, their expressions serious.
"Since she’s coming, let’s welcome her."
Elder Tiana said. She had the Moonveil’s characteristic silver hair and a pair of beautiful black eyes. She looked older than the Patriarch, being his elder sister.
Sitting close to Gomen, Cassius shook his head. "Naturally, we aren’t afraid of their clan. However, their intentions is what bothers me."
Immediately, every clan elder began to speculate the reason for their visitor’s visit.
A clan elder voiced his opinion. "Could it be because of Ariana?"
Immediately, the hall fell silent. Everyone understood the meaning of his words. The fact that Ariana Moonveil was a five-ci-aptitude was not hidden. Definitely, other clans will come and find a way to get her on their side.
"Hmph! They dare to cover the patriarch’s daughter? Impudent!"
One elder voiced his displeasure.
"Exactly! Ariana is one of our clan’s treasures? How can we allow them to take her away."
Another snorted. Everyone quickly agreed. No matter what, they couldn’t allow whatever plans the Suho Clan had to succeed.
"Indeed. Let them come. No matter what, we can’t be rude to guests. However, we can’t let them get what they want."
Elder Cassius also nodded.
Seeing that they all came to a conclusion, Gomen nodded.
"Since you all agree, let’s receive them. According to the scouts words, they should arrive in a week." His smile turned malicious. "By then, we’ll see what they truly want."
_______
That same night, Seraph finally visited Halo in his mind space. His appearance was still the same, having discarded the shadow of his previous life.
"So? Finally going to give me an explanation about Divine Credits?"
Seraph’s face was cool and detached when he spoke. Not because he hated Halo or anything, but because this was his true self. Right before the multidimensional being, he could freely cast away any form of pretense.
The yellow cube didn’t seem to mind this and replied.
["I told you before that I’m a system, right? Well, the system has a shop too. Divine Credits are used to buy things from the shop."]
Seraph nodded, his expression unchanged.
"So what are the things I can buy from this ’shop’?"
["Here’s a list."]
[Appearance Altering Pill - 6 Divine Credits]
[Meridian Strengthening Pill - 20 Divine Credits]
[Fireball Skill Scroll - 7 Divine Credits]
[Foundation Stabilizing Pill - 65 Divine Credits]
[Grade One Protection Talisman - 30 Divine Credits]
[Time Element Cultivation Manual - 3000 Divine Credits]
A single glance at the list told Seraph how useful the system could be. It was practically a shop in his mind space.
"Hmm, seems I have to finish the Sword Technique construction before I can get the Meridian Strengthening Pill."
Halo wasn’t surprised by his choice.
["As expected. You chose the most efficient. It seems I don’t have to worry about your emotions affecting your judgement at all."]
Seraph’s face darkened slightly. Halo really knew how to take a jab at someone. Ignoring his unpleasant expression, Halo continued.
["Since you’ll be training that Ariana brat, you should use that to develop the Sword Technique."]
Seraph didn’t reply, entirely ignoring the system’s suggestion, then left his mind space.
_______
The days went by smoothly, at least from Seraph’s perspective. Elder Cassius released him from classes two hours early so he could go to the Moonveil manor and train Ariana for another four hours. As for how he trained her, well, it was better left unsaid for now.
Finally, on the fifth day since Seraph’s employment, the Suho Clan arrived at the Moonveil Clan residence.
They brought only a single carriage carrying the matriarch, a clan elder, and her son. Also, two guards at the Core Advanced Stage were following them.
Elder Tiana was the one to receive them at the gates. She did her best to smile politely.
"Ah, we weren’t expecting your Suho Clan to visit us without notice, so we couldn’t prepare well enough. Still, we’d welcome you."
Her impolite words were said with a polite smile, making the guards’ faces ugly.
From within the carriage, Matriarch Suho snorted. "I don’t mind. Anyways, let us in."
Elder Tiana didn’t reply and instead gestured for the guards to allow them to pass. With herself in lead, she led the carriage to the clan manor.
Finally, the visitors from the Suho Clan were welcomed into the manor. Standing from his ’throne’, Gomen gave a harmless smile.
"Ah, Matriarch Suho. It’s a surprise seeing you. Please make yourself comfortable."
The adult woman didn’t reply to his pleasant greeting and instead sat in a chair prepared for her. Gomen turned to the young man beside her. He looked exactly like her—same red hair and red eyes, coupled with a haughty expression. He was quite young, probably seven years old. Surprisingly, he was already at the Core Beginner Stage.
Seeing that her son had caught his attention, Matriarch Suho smiled.
"This is my son, Kazi Suho. He’s the future clan leader. Kazi, say hi to the Moonveil Clan Patriarch."
"Hi, Moonveil Patriarch."
This was quite insulting. How could a mere brat greet a Patriarch with just ’hi’? This obviously angered both Cassius and Tiana. However, they didn’t let their displeasure show. Even though the Suho Clan was also a small clan like them, they had stronger warriors and were used to being violent. They couldn’t risk a war just because of some disrespect.
Surprisingly, Matriarch Suho sent her son away a moment later.
"Kazi, excuse us. We’d like to discuss adult matters. Tuve, follow him."
The boy looked displeased but complied while one of the guards followed him.
Immediately, Patriarch Gomen went straight to the point.
"What is it you wanted to ask for? Don’t worry, if it is in my power, I’ll grant you."
His words ticked the woman off, but she refrained from retorting. Instead, she spoke about her reason for coming here.
"I heard you have a beautiful daughter right? I want her to marry my son, Kazi. He’s quite talented, a five-ci-aptitude."
Everyone from the Moonveil Clan went silent. Of course they already expected this, but hearing it from her was a bit annoying.
Noticing their silence, Matriarch Suho finally smiled cunningly.
"Is there a problem? After all, my son is quite talented and has the looks. Or could it be you think he’s not enough? Could it be that your daughter is also a five-ci-aptitude or greater?"
She chuckled. Indeed, her main goal was to probe.
