Chapter 5: Classes

["That girl is not so simple. Although it is brief, I suspect that she is soon to achieve a breakthrough. Just like you."] ๐“ฏ๐™ง๐™š๐’†๐™ฌ๐™š๐’ƒ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐’—๐“ฎ๐“ต.๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข

Ignoring the fact that Halo spoke out of its own initiative, Seraph was surprised.

Since the girl had slipped about being able to cultivate already, he suspected that she had her real talents hidden by the Patriarch too.

โ€™This is interesting. On that note, how long do you think I have before I breakthrough into the Core Beginner Stage?โ€™

["Iโ€™d say a week at most."]

โ€™Alright.โ€™

This secret conversation, if heard, could cause an uproar! Reaching the Core Beginner Stage at the age of five? Unimaginable. Even Ariana who was also close to breakthrough was just about to enter the Initial Beginner Stage. Yet, Seraph was already about to enter the Core rank at the age of five. And more shocking was the fact that he had only resumed cultivating eight months ago.

With this fact remaining unknown to anyone but the duo, Seraph stepped into the class marked โ€™Year 1โ€™.

There were forty chairs in the class with thirty two chairs already occupied. The kids chatted excitedly with each other, something he couldnโ€™t relate with because of his mental age.

It reminded him of how Ayanokoji Kiyotaka felt seeing his classmates in the Classroom of the Elites Anime.

โ€™Since when did I watch anime that much?โ€™ He suddenly felt skeptical.

โ€™That aside, how do I relate with a group of kids?โ€™

He fell into a dilemma, pondering while rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

"Are you missing your mommy already? You should sit down so you can quickly finish classes and go home to see her."

A familiar voice said from behind him.

Raising his head, he saw Elder Cassius โ€™looking downโ€™ at him.

โ€™A very figurative speech...โ€™

Without answering the old man, he entered the class and took a seat by the window side. A spur-of-the-moment action.

Smiling to himself, Elder Cassius entered the class with a stack of books in his hands.

"Good morning, class. You may refer to me as Teacher while weโ€™re in school okay?"

"Yes, Teacher!"

"Good. Now letโ€™s take an attendance. Once I call your name, you say โ€™Present, sirโ€™. Okay?"

"Yes, Teacher!"

"Okay. Letโ€™s begin. Zara Wumin..."

"Present, sir!"

"Toma Larson..."

"Present, sir!"

"Helene Fischer..."

"Present, sir!"

"Seraph Skye..."

"Present."

Although his reply earned a glance from Cassius, the man didnโ€™t dwell on it and resumed taking attendance. Once he confirmed that all the thirty three kids were present, he started the class.

"Today, weโ€™ll be doing Introduction to Cultivation. As you all can guess, cultivation involves taking in spiritual energy and using it to nourish the body and make us stronger. In the cultivation pathway, there are five basic stages which you should know."

Turning, he started to write something on the board.

The kids leaned forward, excited about what they were learning. After all, in this world, cultivation meant everything. It was the perfect opposite of education on earth.

Seraph also leaned forward, curious. After all, even Halo wasnโ€™t aware of the cultivation levels.

On the board, Elder Cassius wrote them out and gestured for the kids to see.

โ€™Beginner Stage, Advanced Stage, Master Stage, King Stage, Emperor Stage, uh? Doesnโ€™t seem like all to me.โ€™ Seraph mused inwardly.

"These arenโ€™t all the stages in cultivation, there are those at the legendary Saint Stage. But those are outside our scope. Instead, let us focus on these five stages."

He then explained the three ranks in each stage. The first was called Initial, the second one, Core, and the last one, Peak. Whenever someone entered a new stage, theyโ€™d have to pass through the three ranks before they could dream of advancing to the next stage.

Very quickly, the day came to an end and the kids returned home after all the classes had been concluded. Of course, Elder Cassius didnโ€™t forget to give them assignments.

While the kids grumbled home, not wanting the assignment, Elder Cassius returned to the family residence in the heart of the clan.

"Oh. Uncle, youโ€™ve returned."

Gomen welcomed him with a smile, making him blink in surprise.

"You seem... unusually happy. Is there something I donโ€™t know?"

"Haha, itโ€™s nothing much." Gomen laughed, patting his own belly. "But Ariana suddenly became serious about her cultivation. It seems letting her meet that Seraph boy was the right choice."

"Oh? Itโ€™s related to him?"

Cassius was a bit surprised. Of course he was also aware of Arianaโ€™s desire to meet the rainbow-eyed kid.

"Yes, yes. That aside, I guess you wanted to tell me something?"

Cassius nodded with a serious expression. "That boy Seraph. Heโ€™s too sharp."

"Too sharp?" Gomen raised a brow.

"Mn. When I tried to use my spirit sense to check him out, he immediately noticed and looked at me."

"Oh? As expected of a seven-ci-aptitude." Gomen laughed, a little bit surprised.

Cassius shook his head with a mysterious smile. "You might not believe it, but that boy is close to breaking through to the Core Beginner Stage."

Holy!

Gomen couldnโ€™t help but sit up straight. He didnโ€™t doubt his uncleโ€™s words in the slightest. Still, he struggled to believe what he had just heard. A five year-old about to become a Core Beginner Stage Cultivator? If others heard it, theyโ€™d surely laugh and call him senile.

Again, Gomen had no reason to not trust his uncleโ€™s words.

In that case, this was a big issue. One must note that even Yelena, who had graduated, had just become a Core Beginner Stage Cultivator. This was partly because of her four-ci-aptitude like her father.

Even a six-ci-aptitude like the patriarch only reached that level when he was eight years old. And Seraph was about to reach that stage while being just five years old.

โ€™Could it be this is the true prowess of the seven-ci-aptitude?โ€™

He couldnโ€™t help but think. However, he shook his head immediately after. Ariana was also a seven-ci-aptitude child, and she had even started cultivation early at the age of three. She was only just about to become an Initial Beginner Stage Cultivator in probably a few months.

Given that their aptitudes were equal, he failed to understand what made Seraph so special.

"Nephew, you must know what this means if word spread out right?"

Hearing Cassiusโ€™ words, Gomen nodded.

Although they could hide a personโ€™s true aptitude as long as it wasnโ€™t retested, they couldnโ€™t hide a personโ€™s cultivation. Very soon, someone curious would check and realize what sort of monster the boy was.

"Ahh, Iโ€™m only getting more headaches."

The Patriatch thought as he rubbed his aching temples with his fingers. In the end, there was really nothing they could do.
