Chapter 27: Entrance Examination (4)

Ariana flinched, a surprised expression on her face.

’Someone is trying to steal from us?’

She immediately took the talismans from the three beasts she had killed, then rushed to stand beside Seraph.

Another group of three walked up to them with arrogant expressions.

The one in the middle, a boy with unnaturally long hair almost reaching his waist snorted and said.

"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. You both look like frogs from a well. How did you even kill these things? I’m sure they must have been injured when you guys met them."

Seraph smiled gently. "Is that so? Even then, it’s still our kill since we landed the final blow, right?"

"Hah!" The only girl in the group scoffed. "Do you think Senior Melox is a fool? You guys are unworthy of these talismans. Now hand it over before we beat you up!"

The other guy also nodded. "You better be fast. Our Senior Brother has already reached the Advanced Stage in cultivation."

Feeling proud of his cultivation, Melox puffed his chest out, his expression filled with haughtiness.

Just then, another presence appeared at the scene.

"Melox Cang. You want to steal from others?"

A cold feminine voice rang out, making everyone turn to the speaker.

It was a familiar girl to Ariana and Seraph.

’Isn’t she the same girl I insulted yesterday?’ Ariana blinked in surprise.

The girl didn’t look at them, but faced the long-haired Melox and his two underlings.

"Ugh! It’s you again! Tamar of the Dark Clan! This is none of your business!"

Melox growled, though he unconsciously took a step back. His two underlings also displayed some fear, moving back and hiding behind him.

"Who decided that? I can’t stand seeing you guys commit atrocities again. Now scram!"

Tamar shot back, a cold expression on her face.

Surprisingly, Melox gritted his teeth and stayed. "Do you think I’m still the same person you could easily beat back then? Hah! I’m now in the Advanced Stage too!"

Saying this, he unsheathed the sword behind him and charged at her.

His two underlings were surprised, but quickly cheered him on.

Tamar shook her head disappointedly. "Even if you grow stronger, you’re still weaker than I am."

She also unsheathed her sword, then effortlessly blocked Melox’s attack. The boy was pushed back, while she pressed forward.

"Earth Spikes."

The ground beneath Melox shifted, with sharp spikes of solid earth shooting up at him. The boy dodged hastily, moving around in panic.

"Don’t lose focus on your opponent."

Suddenly, he heard Tamar whisper beside him, and he received a palm strike to his chest.

Bam!

He was sent flying, rolling on the ground and dirtying his clean robes.

"Senior Brother!"

His two underlings immediately went to support him, helping him stand. Together, they glared at Tamar.

"You..."

Melox choked, unable to say a word. His chest hurt like hell, and he could even feel some cracks on his ribs.

’Damnit! What a monstrous strength.’

Tamar coldly regarded the three of them. "Do I have to say it again? Now scra—"

"Heh?"

A sarcastic voice interrupted her, making her expression darken. She wasn’t annoyed because she was interrupted, but because she recognized that voice.

"Marcus."

Another long-haired boy appeared, wearing clean robes and carrying a dignified expression. As soon as they saw him, the expressions of Melox and his underlings lit up.

"Big brother!"

Melox shouted, a joyous expression on his face. Marcus smiled at him, then turned to Tamar and the two people standing behind her.

"Tamar. Isn’t it a bit harsh bullying my twin brother and his friends?"

He said softly, his voice carrying an indignant undertone

"Bullying?" Tamar tilted her head. "Do you know what they were trying to do again?"

Marcus formed a thoughtful expression, looking at the surroundings.

"Oh! I see it now. My brother must have killed these beasts and then you and your... goons want to take it? I didn’t even know you have a thing for keeping pretty kids around you."

His voice was laid with innocence and mockery, making her expression darken.

He took a look at Seraph and Ariana, noting Seraph’s peculiar eye color.

Tamar stepped forward, her expression stern. "Did you come here just to weave your own story? I should have expected that much from scum like you."

"Hahahaha!" Marcus laughed. "Don’t be so harsh. I’m merely stating facts, right?"

Melox and the other two immediately nodded, gleeful expressions on their faces.

"Looks like I’ll hadad ve to tell you to scram too."

Tamar said coldly, slowly unsheathing her sword.

Suddenly, a hand landed on her shoulder, startling her.

"That’s enough."

She reacted instinctively, pulling her sword out to slash and the person. However, another hand held her hand, pushing the sword back into the sheath.

Seraph stepped beside her, a light smile on his face. "Let me handle this."

’Wait! It’s even them?’

She remembered the rude kids she had encountered yesterday.

’Now he wants to face Marcus?’

Tamar was surprised, but remembering what her guardian had said about him, she decided to let him act.

"Hah? What does a pretty weakling like you want to do? Amuse me?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Seraph yawned lazily, "You said your twin killed these right? Then come. Come claim the talismans from I, the thief."

Marcus’s brows dropped at the boy’s confidence. He immediately flexed his arms, creating two swords made from fire.

"Don’t blame me for being rude."

Saying that, he charged at Seraph. The white-haired boy closed his eyes, as if surrendering.

Just before the flame swords reached him, his spear flashed, and he deflected Marcus’s attacks.

Clang!

Marcus was forced back, retreating several steps before he steadied himself.

Still with his eyes closed, Seraph calmly said. "You want to reclaim your twin’s talismans with this strength? I’m afraid you don’t have the ability."

His words angered Marcus, making his expression turn livid.

"I don’t have the ability? Hah! Kneel and kowtow to me now so I won’t destroy your dantian!"

Seraph shrugged. "Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. You’re weak, after all."
