Playing a DPS Role with Absolute Defense-Chapter 171 - 169: Su Mo’s Choice Paralysis
[Skill upgrading... Detecting possession of high-speed movement skills, initiating skill fusion]
Su Mo, who was eagerly waiting to check the skill details after the upgrade, was completely stunned after seeing this system notification in front of him.
Then came an overwhelming joy!
[Skill fusion failed!]
???
Even while enhancing attributes and upgrading skills, Su Mo saw this string of notifications and came to a sudden halt.
Right now, he just wanted to curse, not even bothering to chase that severely injured divine level powerhouse anymore.
You told me skills could upgrade, so I went for it, and now you tell me the upgrade failed!
What the hell!!!
[Attempting alternative fusion methods...]
[Attempting...]
[Attempt failed!]
[Searching for optimal solution...]
...
A series of notifications frantically scrolled down, as if the system had been hacked.
Then Su Mo simply ignored everything else, closing even the Voice of the Heart and Extreme Speed mode, standing quietly in place watching what seemed like a virus-infected system flood the screen.
Seeing Su Mo suddenly stop, everyone present looked over at Su Mo.
In fact, there was no need for him to stop; everyone had been keeping an eye on his every move.
Even the maid, Enchanting Demon Alice, who had just accepted him wasn’t an exception.
Although he didn’t understand his master’s skills, he did know a bit about the regenerative abilities of divine level powerhouses.
Yet, until now, that divine level being wounded by his master showed no signs of recovery, which already spoke volumes.
And he was merely a demigod. Skills that even divine level powerhouses couldn’t withstand would be unbearable for him.
Thus, he was always ready to run away whenever he saw Su Mo, just like old Gongsun Mu.
But even so, he didn’t dare stray too far, especially with that old man not far away constantly banging a hammer on another divine demon’s head, looking anything but kind.
Who on earth wields a big hammer to crazily bash someone on the head!
It’s one thing if it’s an average person, but this is a deity!
And shockingly enough, this divine level being taking the blows seemed to be in worse shape than the one Su Mo was chasing.
The one Su Mo was chasing still had half a shoulder cut off but was at least conscious, aware of what they were doing.
Here, every time this one even began to wake up, the old man would rush over and hammer him again.
Gongsun Mu also looked at Su Mo in puzzlement, not understanding why he suddenly stopped chasing so well.
Could it be that he thought of a good way to catch up with that guy?
Thinking of this, he too began to ponder, contemplating what other skills Su Mo possessed that could let him match divine-level speed.
Indeed, he had a skill that could do that, but once you’ve seen it, you can more or less understand its nature.
The speed is too fast; Su Mo simply can’t control it, which is the fundamental problem.
If Su Mo could control this skill, he could rightfully claim there’d be nowhere in the universe he couldn’t go.
Although with his current ability and strength it already seems so, having true mastery over that skill would be even more terrifying.
[Attempting integration...]
[Attempting fusion...]
...
This damn system is really stubborn; if you can’t do it, just honestly upgrade my ability, what kind of mess is this!
You think I’ll wait 1000 years for you to succeed?
But the system gave no response to Su Mo’s internal berating; it just kept flooding the screen.
[Attempting intrusion...]
[Attempting control...]
[Attempting insertion...]
...
Another 5 minutes passed, and Su Mo was utterly speechless; this damn system really wouldn’t give up until it achieved its aim, seeming like it was deliberately being stubborn with his Flying in the Sky ability.
It insisted on integrating the Extreme Speed ability into Flying in the Sky.
Though he too wanted to control this skill, if you can’t do it, don’t force it!
The source of this skill is Absolute Defense; attempting to invade this ability is akin to invading Absolute Defense!
Absolute Defense, like its name, means absolute. Even an invasion isn’t possible!
Instead of thinking about invading, better think about being invaded!
Su Mo’s thought seemed to have been sensed by the system, and suddenly the style of the panel changed.
[Attempting to be invaded...]
[Invaded successfully, decoding...]
Looking at the last two lines of hints on the system panel, Su Mo fell into deep thought.
Could it be the system really succumbed?
This ability even made the system yield?
This is so damn abstract!
It’s absolutely ridiculous, absurd to the core!
Despite Su Mo’s mental complaints, he didn’t care anymore, as long as the skills got upgraded.
As he was thinking this, the system popped up another notification.
[Decoding failed...] 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
[Forced fusion in progress...]
Watching the absurd antics of the system, Su Mo really wanted to swear this time, if you can’t do it, don’t come at it; doesn’t this just waste my time!
Damn!
...
[Forced fusion successful!]
[Skill upgrade successful!]
Seeing this notification at last, Su Mo’s eyes finally lit up, after waiting so long, the skill was finally upgraded.
This could be said to be the toughest skill upgrade since Su Mo’s awakening!
Originally, it was just a simple skill upgrade, but this damn system insisted on invading his skill, isn’t it absurd.
Now look, it’s been invaded by my skill! Satisfied?
Still feeling unsatisfied, he cursed a few times and then checked his upgraded skills.
[Skill Unnamed 1: After activating the skill, temporarily control Flying in the Sky for 30 seconds, cooldown 24 hours!]
Seeing this skill, Su Mo’s brow furrowed slightly.
Being able to control the Flying in the Sky skill for 30 seconds is indeed impressive.
Considering the nature of the Flying in the Sky skill, if he could truly master it, it would be a giant leap in his strength.
But what’s the point of a mere 30 seconds!
A man could admit to anything but being fast!
Now you’re giving me something that’s not only fast but short-lived!
The cooldown time spans an entire day!
Might as well have left it as it was before.
Even though he couldn’t control Flying in the Sky, he could still use it for all sorts of things, like chopping down Kings, no problem there, but you changed it to having only 30 seconds, what the hell can I do with it!
After Su Mo cursed for two minutes continuously, another system notification slowly appeared in front of him.
[Skill Unnamed 2: After activating the skill, temporarily control Flying in the Sky for 60 seconds, cooldown 36 hours!]
Uh, I said the time is short, and you double it. Do you think moving from 30 seconds to 60 seconds is long enough!
Besides, if 30 seconds needs a 24-hour cooldown, 60 seconds should be 48 hours, why is it 36 hours! Are you making a fool out of me!
So who’s the fool here, you or me!
After finishing his rant, Su Mo still felt unsatisfied glancing at the system panel, and discovered three small dots flashing at the bottom.
It seemed to be loading something, but it appeared extremely difficult, as if experiencing complications during birth.
After waiting another full 5 minutes, another system notification appeared.
[Skill Unnamed 3: After activating the skill, temporarily control Flying in the Sky for 120 seconds, cooldown 240 hours!]
Three identical skills, just with varying control times and drastically different cooldowns.
seconds requires only a 24-hour cooldown, but 120 seconds needs a whopping 240 hours.
And judging by the situation, there are no more options, and even if there were, who knows how terrifying the cooldowns would be.
It seems the system is dead set on making Su Mo choose one of these three skills.
Personally, I’ve been considering too, 30 seconds isn’t too short, isn’t too long, if the strength gap isn’t vast, perhaps against a King-level, activating the skill could ensure victory, easily.
Even against a large group, it would be no problem; given Flying in the Sky’s speed, 30 seconds is plenty to accomplish a lot.
Yet dealing with divine-level powerhouses is still a no-go, possibly even falling short against demigods.
