Players Invade Cyberpunk-Chapter 658 - 212: Yilin: The Inherent Vice of a Certain Group
Recently, Night City has been a lot more stable than usual.
At least, after the gang sieges in Watson District and Santo Domingo, whether it's the Tiger Claw Gang, Valentino Gang, or Sixth Street Gang, they've all calmed down, barely daring to stir up trouble even in their own turf.
There's just no way around it, they can't afford to mess with them.
Those bastards aren't even human.
The gang henchmen banded together to attack the other side's office, using rocket launchers and cyberpsychosis, only to be utterly defeated with heavy casualties.
If that was all, they'd still return to their turf as bosses, unable to provoke Horizon Corporation, but bullying their underlings wouldn't be a problem.
But the number of these lunatics is growing, they're all over the city, and they love fighting for what's right.
They love targeting the gangs' hidden drug dens and illegal arms stash in the sewers.
Once they seize the drugs, they don't sell them, just destroy them — that's a ton of money, gone!
A total disaster!
The arms, whoever grabs them, gets to keep them, they split the spoils on site, more like a bunch of bandits!
Not even fit to be called bandits!
He tui!
Think you're the police?
NCPD's not half as meddlesome as you guys.
And these people are pure lunatics.
The gangs tried bribing these mercenaries, hoping they'd turn a blind eye, make money together, even willing to share a bit with them.
Guess what?
Hey, they took the money but didn't do the job.
Usual gang tricks don't work on these guys at all.
Facing hard-nosed cops, they can bribe higher-ups, falsify charges, even resort to murder.
But these people
have no superiors
won't fight among themselves over uneven booty
Accuse them?
They don't care about reputation or morals.
Law doesn't constrain them, street rules are trampled, more decisive than the Sixth Street Gang; if they say they'll kill your whole family, they will, they don't fear death.
Even the police follow procedure when handling cases, these folks jump straight to execution.
That's not even the scariest part.
The scariest part is, you don't know who among the crowd is one of them.
The Tiger Claw Gang is known for tattoos, neon accents; the Valentino Gang flaunts gold and silver; the Sixth Street Gang has redneck jackets and revolvers as trademarks.
These cyberpsychos appear quite normal when not in crisis, looking friendly.
Just days ago, the company's boss succeeded in securing the outsourcing of the NCPD Night City bounty system through lobbying — as long as you have solid illegal activity evidence, you can designate bounty targets, even crowdfund bounties, all anonymously.
Now even if the Tiger Claw Gang collects protection fees on the street, they duck into stores cautiously, not daring to raise their voices, fearing provoking these maniacs.
Robbery on the street? 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
You'd better hope the person you're robbing isn't one of them, and pray no one around is.
Don't the gangs want to resolve this problem?
They need to be able to solve it first.
How do you know who's the cyberpsycho in the crowd?
In a place like Night City where population control is a mess, military technology erases personnel data opposing Huang Ban, and vice versa, many corporations tamper with personnel records, the population registry is beyond recognition.
More than ten homeless people disappear daily, the Tiger Claw Gang smuggles a batch of people into Night City weekly, NCPD has to queue up to transport corpses, what can you do? What can you check?
Some tried kidnapping family members of company employees, and the next day the entire gang vanished from the leader to the lackeys, leaving only bloodstains behind, even cockroaches halved on the roadside.
To improve their survival rates, those bottom-rung thugs had to draft some survival rules.
1. Night City is a harmonious city, when walking the streets avoid resorting to knives and guns, it's best not to carry any lethal weapons at all.
2. If you have a dispute with someone, call the police immediately, then wait on-site for NCPD to resolve the issue. No matter the gang affiliation, if they make the first move, loudly proclaim there's a bounty killer here, they'll be dealt with.
3. During deals, be aware of your surroundings, deals should not and cannot have third-party presence, if there is, regardless of how weak they seem, no matter how many brothers have your back, with whatever weapons, abort the deal and flee with the goods immediately.
4. No animals or other people will be in the sewers. If you hear sounds other than your group or other things speaking, stay put, tightly close and lock doors and windows, report to higher-ups, await support.
5. Avoid Republic Street, that's their territory.
6. If you find yourself listed with a bounty in the NCPD data, no matter the amount immediately seek police for surrender! Immediately seek police for surrender! The police station is safe; they won't come over.
7. If you see people acting extremely bizarre at any location, ignore them, then turn and leave right away, as far as possible.
8. If a stranger invites you to criminal activities, regardless of the promised reward, firmly refuse. Night City is a harmonious city, always keep this in mind.
9. Remember the names of colleagues during missions, if someone dressed like your gang tries to join, regardless of your familiarity with them, reject them and ignore them.
