player POV-Chapter 47: Trap 2
Crash... crash... crash...
The room was completely destroyed from every side. Shards of glass were scattered everywhere, and the large table had been smashed into pieces. You could say that everything in the room was utterly ruined...
"What are you doing, Kar? Pouring all your anger onto the furniture won’t help you at all."
Kar suddenly stopped, standing motionless amid the wreckage. Glass crunched beneath his feet, his breathing was heavy, and his hands were still trembling with rage.
He slowly turned around.
He looked behind him toward Ron, who was standing not far away. Their eyes met for several long seconds, neither of them saying a word...
Ron couldn’t hold it in any longer.
Then—
he laughed.
"Heh..."
Kar’s face twitched instantly.
He said in a low voice, sharp as a blade,
"...What’s so funny?"
Ron immediately lowered his head, covering his mouth as he tried to suppress his laughter, then spoke in a broken voice:
"Nothing... just— I just remembered an old joke. That’s all."
He had no choice but to lie, afraid that Kar would unleash all his anger on him.
Kar took a single step forward.
Glass shattered under his shoe.
"A joke?"
He laughed coldly. "Are you sure you weren’t laughing at my face?"
Ron swallowed hard and nodded quickly, exaggeratedly.
"No! I swear, it’s not because of you. I didn’t think about you at all."
Kar stared at him for a long moment, as if trying to rip the truth out of his eyes.
Then he spoke slowly, in a terrifying tone:
"If I found out you were laughing at me... I would have burned you alive."
He paused, then continued in a heavier voice:
"Just like I’ll do to Rion. I’ll disfigure his face and slit his throat... so he’ll never laugh again."
Silence fell.
Kar exhaled.
Ron could barely stand; he had narrowly escaped death. He finally took a breath, as if he had just surfaced from underwater.
He spoke, shock seeping into his voice despite his fear:
"How will you do that? He’s the heir of the Taylor family. Do you think they’ll allow you to touch him?"
Kar raised his gaze coldly and answered after a brief silence:
"They don’t care about him. He’s an outcast. Whether he lives or dies makes no difference to them."
Then he added, seriously:
"The only person we should worry about... is Silvar." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
The moment the name was spoken, both of them trembled.
Ron took an unconscious step back and said in a low, shaking voice
"Kar... we should stop. I don’t want to get involved with him. He warned us clearly—"
His voice choked, and he couldn’t finish the sentence.
Kar noticed his trembling and smiled a cold smile.
"Calm down,"
he said with excessive confidence.
"He won’t find out."
He leaned closer and whispered:
"I have... a plan."
....
After the great catastrophe, the world changed drastically. Demons appeared suddenly, and countless rifts emerged across the land, while the climate entered a state of constant instability. The world was no longer as stable as it once was, and chaos became part of everyday life.
"Lania" spread everywhere, filling the world as if it were a new element of nature. This energy affected the environment, the shape of cities, and the course of global development, pushing humanity to change its way of life to adapt to the new reality.
The spread of "Lania" was not limited to granting extraordinary power to individuals—it also drove humanity to accelerate its scientific development in astonishing ways. Scientists began studying the nature of this energy, trying to understand its laws and apply it in medicine, technology, and even in defense against demons. Humanity discovered inventions and sciences that no one had ever dreamed of, becoming more capable of facing new challenges.
Thus, "Lania" transformed from a rare energy into a fundamental part of daily life, helping humans adapt to the changes that occurred in the new world.
However, humanity has not yet deeply understood "Lania."
And while humans are still far from fully comprehending it, systematic study has opened new horizons...
[Lania Studies]
That was the name of the class I was heading to—a new course the academy added this year to study "Lania" as a scientific energy.
Why were almost all the classes added in the same year the protagonist enrolled in the academy? Whoever designed these settings was truly an idiot. That must be why it was almost unknown. I was the only one who knew it, along with the designer...
You could say it was nearly the worst game of all time.
Let’s stop thinking for a moment...
Why have I started thinking so much since I came to this world?
I sighed.
A small sigh escaped my lips as I headed to my class in a mood that was neither good nor bad.
However, my mood worsened immediately the moment I left the dormitory.
The air outside felt different, or perhaps it was just my own feelings shifting.
I paused for a moment before noticing two students standing not far away, silently staring at me.
I could see them clearly from my spot, and their gazes were not casual or random.
I felt uneasy, so I looked behind me to check if someone else was standing there—someone they might actually be looking at.
But it was strange...
There was no one behind me.
I turned back to them, and an unsettling question crossed my mind: Were they really looking at me?
And why me, specifically?
I scanned every direction around me, left and right, trying to be sure, but the answer was clear.
There was no doubt—they were staring at me.
I raised my hand slightly, hesitantly, attempting to signal them or ask what they were staring at.
I didn’t expect a strong reaction, but the moment they noticed, they stepped back quickly, as if startled, and then turned and disappeared into the corridors without saying a word.
I stood there for a moment, trying to make sense of what had happened.
Maybe... I had become a famous person without even realizing it.
That was the only explanation that came to my mind at the moment. And with that thought, my mood lifted slightly, and I felt a sense of satisfaction.
The idea of being known, even without a clear reason, gave me a surprisingly wonderful feeling I couldn’t deny.
