Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Mother and Daughter Serving Together

Facing the four ferocious men in black, Zhu Yan’s pretty face turned pale with fright. But even though she was terrified, she did not back down.

Her delicate body trembled as she stepped forward to shield Sun Zhe. "Don’t make things difficult for him," she said, her voice shaking. "This is all my fault... Just take me."

She had a rough idea of who had sent these four men, and a deep sense of helplessness washed over her.

Looking at Zhu Yan’s back, a wave of warmth spread through Sun Zhe’s heart. Since childhood, aside from his grandfather, he had never felt such care from anyone else. Faced with danger, this woman, trembling with fear, still stepped forward to protect him.

Little Mom, thank you... Even if I die, I won’t let you be harmed in the slightest.

Sun Zhe vowed silently, then suddenly strode forward, pulling Zhu Yan behind him. He faced the scar-faced man and declared, "If you want to touch a single hair on her head, you’ll have to do it over my dead body!"

Zhu Yan’s face filled with anxiety. "Ah Zhe, you..."

"Don’t say another word, Little Mom." Sun Zhe interrupted her. "I’m a man. How can I hide behind you?"

The scar-faced man sized up Sun Zhe and grinned. "A real man, huh? Kneel and repent now, and I might go a little easier on you."

Sun Zhe just smiled. "What do I have to repent for?"

"Because you messed with people you shouldn’t have!" the man shot back.

"So that scumbag really did send you," Sun Zhe said. "If I had the chance to do it over, I would’ve killed him on the spot."

The scar-faced man smiled and shook his head, done with the idle talk. "Get him!"

At his command, the other three men drew expandable batons from their waists and rushed toward Sun Zhe.

Sun Zhe immediately pushed Zhu Yan aside and squared up against the three assailants. He couldn’t help but feel a little nervous; he hadn’t been in many fights growing up. However, he wasn’t afraid. He had great confidence in his current strength.

Seeing one of the men charge at him, he recalled the Fist Technique from his Cultivation Technique. Secretly mobilizing the True Qi in his body, he took a sudden step forward and threw a straight punch.

BOOM!

The man, who stood over six feet tall, was sent flying backward, crashing heavily into a car door.

Seeing this, the remaining men froze, staring at Sun Zhe in stunned disbelief, completely unable to process what had just happened.

Meanwhile, Zhu Yan watched Sun Zhe’s handsome, powerful strike. Her beautiful eyes quivered, filled with a mix of admiration, pride, and utter disbelief. She never expected Sun Zhe to possess such skill.

Just then, Sun Zhe moved like lightning, lunging forward with two clean, swift punches that brought the other two men down.

"Damn it, he’s a trained fighter!" the scar-faced man in the back cursed. He suddenly charged at Sun Zhe, leaping into a flying kick.

Seeing this, Sun Zhe’s heart sank, and he didn’t dare be careless. He could clearly sense that this scar-faced man was no ordinary opponent. In his eyes, however, the man’s speed wasn’t particularly fast; in fact, it seemed almost slow. So slow that he could dodge it with a simple sidestep.

The scar-faced man’s kick hit nothing but air. After landing, he followed up with a leg sweep.

Sun Zhe immediately hopped backward, skillfully dodging again before closing the distance and throwing a punch straight at the man’s chest.

BOOM!

The man’s chest took the hit, and his body flew backward before landing heavily on the ground.

"Dammit, all of you, get him together!" the scar-faced man yelled, scrambling to his feet. He felt like his ribs were broken, and after roaring in anger, he and the other three men moved to surround Sun Zhe.

A few moments later, Sun Zhe swayed as he got to his feet, slowly straightening his back. He was breathing lightly, his cold gaze sweeping over the four men groaning in pain on the ground. A trickle of blood ran down his cheek, giving him a gruesome and terrifying appearance.

He had been handling the fight with ease, but he hadn’t expected his True Qi to run out halfway through. This gave the four men an opening to land several blows with their batons, including two to his head. Although he was injured, he had managed to take all four of them down.

"Ah Zhe!" Zhu Yan cried, rushing over to support him. Seeing his face covered in blood, her heart twisted in pain. She had seen it with her own eyes—the scar-faced man had jumped up and smashed his baton against Sun Zhe’s forehead. The mere sight of such a blow was enough to make one’s skin crawl. An ordinary person would have been killed or at least left with brain damage.

Sun Zhe looked at her tenderly. "Little Mom, I’m fine... Let’s go home."

After everything that had happened, he was in no mood to go to a hotel.

"No!" Zhu Yan shook her head, tears welling in her eyes. Her voice trembled as she said, "I’m taking you to the hospital for a check-up right now! Look how badly you’re hurt!"

Sun Zhe took her hand. "Don’t worry, Little Mom. I’m really fine. I just want to go home now."

"..."

「Ping’an Community, Unit 5, Apartment 402.」

Upon entering, Zhu Yan quickly helped Sun Zhe lie down on the sofa. "Qiaoqiao, hurry and get the first-aid kit!"

Ye Qiao rushed to get the kit. Seeing Sun Zhe’s bloodied face, she was so distressed that she was on the verge of tears. "Brother, what happened? How did you get hurt so badly?"

"I’m fine. I just ran into a few punks on the way home. I already took care of them."

"Ah Zhe, don’t talk for now," Zhu Yan said gently. "I’ll help you with your wounds."

"..."

A short while later, Sun Zhe lay on the sofa, enjoying the gentle care of the mother and daughter. As a professional nurse, Zhu Yan was very skilled at treating wounds.

"Thankfully, the skin is just broken. Nothing’s fractured. Still, you should get a check-up at the hospital tomorrow."

"Got it, Little Mom." Looking at the gentle Zhu Yan, Sun Zhe felt his heart melt.

Nearby, Ye Qiao’s eyes were red. "Brother, you can’t get into fights anymore," she said. "In a situation like that, you should have called the police immediately. We live in a society of law!"

"Okay, I know."

"Does it still hurt?"

"A little."

Just then, Zhu Yan stood up. "Qiaoqiao, go get a basin of hot water for your brother. He can’t take a bath tonight, so we’ll just have to give him a sponge bath."

"Oh."

A moment later, Ye Qiao returned to the living room with the basin of hot water, only to be startled to find that Zhu Yan had already stripped Sun Zhe down to his underwear. His well-defined, masculine body was covered in purple and blue bruises. While the sight pained her, she had to admit that he looked quite handsome even while injured.

Zhu Yan glanced at her. "Where’s the towel?"

"Uh... I’ll go get it!" Ye Qiao snapped out of her daze, tore her gaze away from Sun Zhe, and hurried to get a towel.

Afterward, Sun Zhe shamelessly enjoyed a sponge bath administered by the mother-daughter pair. During the process, however, his body reacted with embarrassing enthusiasm. Seeing his underwear straining at the seams, both mother and daughter blushed, but they shared a tacit understanding and pretended not to notice.

Sun Zhe, for his part, simply chose to play dead.

「The next day.」

Sun Zhe woke up early, sat cross-legged on his bed, and began his Cultivation. After a night’s sleep, he found that his True Qi had been restored. However, it had only returned to its previous level before being depleted; overall, it was still a meager amount.

It seems my body can only accommodate this much True Qi. I need to continue my Cultivation and increase its total capacity. Otherwise, it’s simply not enough. It gets used up after just a few moves.

As he mulled this over, he suddenly recalled Gu Lingxue’s elegant yet alluring demeanor, and his little brother slowly began to react.

If I use Gu Lingxue for my Cultivation, I’m sure it will be twice as effective with half the effort. After all, her Yin Essence is much richer than a normal person’s.

The thought alone made him impatient to get to work, filling him with... "drive."

Hmm, looks like I’ll have to put in some extra effort at work. This damn job... might actually be pretty interesting.

After breakfast, Sun Zhe left with Zhu Yan.

「Yangcheng People’s Hospital, Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine.」

As soon as Sun Zhe entered the office, he saw Gu Lingxue sitting there with a serious expression, dressed in a white coat. But even the pristine white coat couldn’t hide her curvaceous figure.

"Morning, Sister Lingxue."

Gu Lingxue stared at Sun Zhe and asked abruptly, "Did you beat up Zhou Xiaolong last night?"

Seeing her displeased expression, Sun Zhe had a sudden bad feeling. "I don’t know his name, but I suppose that was him."

"He’s my brother-in-law," Gu Lingxue said. "My husband’s younger brother."
