Playboy: Medical and Martial Master-Chapter 179: Date with the Campus Belle
At the dining table.
Sun Zhe was devouring his food, full of praise for the nanny’s cooking skills.
However, sitting opposite him, Lin Yingchun was sullen. With her head down, she poked at the rice in her bowl with her chopsticks and muttered softly, "Is eating all you know how to do? You’re like a pig."
Sun Zhe looked up at her, a bit puzzled. He felt that there was something off about the campus beauty and asked, "Yingchun, what’s wrong?"
"Nothing. Just eat your meal." Lin Yingchun couldn’t be bothered with him and turned her head to look elsewhere.
Sun Zhe studied her for a moment, sensing that she was acting strangely, as if something was on her mind.
Just then, a leg clad in sheer stockings stretched out from under the table and kicked his knee. He looked down at the delicate foot wrapped in the thin material and suddenly reached out to grab it, playfully fiddling with it in his hand.
Lin Yingchun’s pretty face turned red. "What are you doing? You pervert!"
Sun Zhe ignored her, playing with her stockinged foot in one hand while eating with the other.
A sweet smile appeared on Lin Yingchun’s face. She teasingly brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, acting as if nothing was happening under the table. "Where are you planning to take me this afternoon?" she asked lightly.
Sun Zhe retorted, "Weren’t you the one who wanted me to keep you company? You decide where we go."
"You..."
Hearing this, the expression on Lin Yingchun’s face froze. She abruptly pulled her foot back from under the table, no longer letting him play with it. Then she slammed her chopsticks down and stood up to leave.
"I’m done eating. You can eat by yourself!"
Sun Zhe watched her retreating back, completely baffled. What was that all about? I didn’t even do anything to provoke her. At this moment, he was more certain than ever that something was off with the campus beauty.
Sigh, women are so troublesome. Forget it. Between a beauty and a good meal, I’ll choose the meal.
「On the other side.」
Back in her room, Lin Yingchun was silently fuming, stomping her dainty feet on the floor and punching the air with her little fists.
"Sun Zhe, you clueless straight man! You’re so infuriating! I finally managed to ask you out on a date, and you didn’t plan anything at all! You didn’t put any thought into it whatsoever! And after I spent so much time on my makeup! AAARGH! I could just strangle you!"
「A short while later.」
After finishing lunch, Sun Zhe was lying on the sofa, patting his full stomach and resting with his eyes closed.
Lin Yingchun suddenly strode over, her long, stocking-clad legs moving with an angry energy. Without a word, she grabbed his hand and pulled him away.
「In the garage.」
Lin Yingchun opened the car door and pushed Sun Zhe directly into the passenger seat. She then helped fasten his seatbelt before running to the other side and getting into the driver’s seat.
Sun Zhe looked puzzled. "Why are you in such a hurry? It’s not like I was going to run away."
Lin Yingchun shot him a glare and said flatly, "Time is limited. I have to go to the university this afternoon."
Sun Zhe asked, "Aren’t you staying home to look after your sister?"
"We have a nanny."
"I see. So, where are we going?"
"We’ll just wander around."
"Alright, up to you."
Seeing Sun Zhe’s indifferent attitude, Lin Yingchun secretly bit her lip, so angry that a vein throbbed on her forehead. Being stuck with such a dense, unromantic man is pure torture!
Sun Zhe glanced at her stunning profile and asked, "Yingchun, are you in a bad mood?"
Lin Yingchun just gave him a massive eye-roll before starting the car. "No," she said. "I’m in a great mood."
"Oh... alright. If you have something on your mind, you can just tell me. You don’t need to bottle it up."
Lin Yingchun took a slow, deep breath, resisting the urge to strangle him.
Sun Zhe added, "By the way, I need to go to your teacher’s place later. If you have something to do, we should probably hurry."
Hearing this, Lin Yingchun couldn’t help but recall the scenes she had secretly witnessed before, and a sour feeling welled up in her heart. At the same time, she felt deeply wronged.
"Do you really not want to spend time with me that much?"
"No, of course not. Didn’t I agree to keep you company? I’ll go with you wherever you want."
"Forget it. If you want to go to your teacher’s place, I’ll take you there now."
Sun Zhe checked the time on his phone. I’m practically becoming a time management guru these days, he lamented internally. He said, "Actually, it’s still early. You can take me there later. It’ll be on your way back to the university."
"By the way, Yingchun, where do you want to go?"
Lin Yingchun pursed her lovely lips and asked, "Want to go see a movie? There’s a new one out that has really high ratings online."
"Hmm, sure."
「At the cinema.」
Lin Yingchun sat on a small sofa, watching the happy couples pass by, her heart filled with envy. But whenever she thought of that clueless oaf Sun Zhe, she was filled with a simmering rage that had nowhere to go.
Just then, Sun Zhe walked up to her with a Coke and popcorn. "Yingchun, I got the popcorn. Let’s go in."
"Mhm..." Lin Yingchun linked her arm with his, and they headed into the theater.
Time slowly passed.
When the movie ended, Lin Yingchun’s eyes were red and shimmering with unshed tears. She clutched Sun Zhe’s hand tightly, unwilling to let go.
Sun Zhe, however, was drowsy and couldn’t stop yawning.
Lin Yingchun choked up. "Sun Zhe, don’t you think that was heart-wrenching? The heroine clearly loved the hero so much, but she had to give him up because she had a terminal illness."
Sun Zhe replied, "I could have cured that terminal illness."
Lin Yingchun was speechless. "..."
Sun Zhe continued, "And the female lead... even though she was terminally ill, she kept using her hardship as an excuse to hurt the male lead again and again. I wasn’t impressed. Using your problems as an excuse to repeatedly hurt someone who loves you... I find people like that very unlikable.
"She accepts his kindness but pushes him away, refusing to tell him the truth. She acts like she’s on some moral high ground, as if everything she’s doing is noble.
"This kind of self-righteous, self-pitying person... I just can’t appreciate it."
Lin Yingchun pinched him and chided, "You’re just a clueless straight man! You don’t understand girls at all."
Sun Zhe retorted, "What does that have to do with being a straight man?"
Lin Yingchun argued, "What do you mean it has nothing to do with it? If the male lead truly understood her, he would have sensed something was wrong even if she didn’t say anything."
Sun Zhe chuckled. "But life isn’t a romantic drama. There’s no set script, not that many empathetic people, and definitely no one who can read minds.
"You girls watch these toxic ’chicken soup for the soul’ videos online all day and end up thinking everyone around you has to understand you implicitly. You think that even if you don’t say a word, just one look or a single expression, and people should instantly know what you mean and fawn over you like a lovesick puppy.
"Do you think that’s realistic?" he asked, then added, "I think... two people just need to be sincere with each other. There’s no need for all the drama. If you have something to say, just say it. Don’t keep it bottled up."
He looked directly into Lin Yingchun’s eyes. "If you want someone to understand you, then just tell them. If you’re unhappy about something, just say it out loud. If you don’t tell them, how can they possibly understand you? You have to realize, real people aren’t as perfect as the male leads in a script."
Hearing his words, Lin Yingchun fell silent.
After a long moment, she asked, "You weren’t talking about the movie. You were talking about me, weren’t you?"
Sun Zhe smiled. "I noticed something was off with you back at your house. I just wanted to see how long you’d keep it bottled up."
Lin Yingchun lowered her head. "You’re right..."
Sun Zhe ruffled her hair. "So, you can tell me now. What did you want me to do with you?"
Lin Yingchun’s face blushed. "And... you’ll do it with me?"
"I already promised, didn’t I? Of course."
Fiddling with the hem of her clothes, Lin Yingchun finally admitted, "Actually... I want you to help me cultivate. I’m about to complete my cultivation of the Extreme Yin Witchcraft."
An odd expression crossed Sun Zhe’s face. "If you had just said so earlier, we could have used the time we spent watching that movie, and you’d probably have completed it by now... OW!"
Before he could finish, Lin Yingchun had stomped her foot down hard on top of his.
"Why do you always resort to hitting people?"
"You’re the one I’m hitting!" Lin Yingchun snapped, grabbing her purse and stalking off.
Sun Zhe hurriedly chased after her and took her hand. "So, to a hotel now?"
"Go to hell!"
"The car works too, if you prefer."
"I don’t want to!"
"Then let’s go to the hotel."
