Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Let Me Examine Your Leg

On the third floor of Shengshi Court, the crowd was growing ever larger.

Everyone looked at Sun Zhe with pity, as if they could already see his tragic end.

"That kid is definitely going to be thrown into the sea to feed the fish tonight."

"Sigh, young people these days are so impulsive. He could have provoked anyone, but he just had to go after President Wang."

"Provoking President Wang is one thing, but this kid was reckless enough to lay hands on his wife!"

Sun Zhe paid no mind to the crowd’s chatter, ignoring the burly middle-aged man before him. He turned to Zhu Yan, Ye Qiao, and the other women with a smile. "Stepmother, Qiaoqiao, Shiyan, you all should step back a bit."

Ye Qiao’s face was etched with worry. She tugged at the corner of Sun Zhe’s shirt and whispered, "Brother... this person looks like bad news. Are you sure you can handle him?"

Sun Zhe simply offered a serene smile and said nothing.

Just then, Liu Fang spoke up. "That’s President Wang of the Celestial Tiger Group, Wang Dahua. He’s very powerful in Yang City. Ah Zhe, you should take your stepmother and sister and leave now. I’ll handle this."

Liu Fang felt utterly helpless. She had originally just brought her good friends here to experience the high life and meet a few potential clients, never expecting to run into this kind of trouble.

The lady Sun Zhe had just tossed into the fountain was Li Yufei, Wang Dahua’s wife.

Wang Dahua, now over forty, had finally married the young and stunningly beautiful Li Yufei. He doted on her so much he wished he could carry her in the palm of his hand all day.

What Sun Zhe had just done to Li Yufei was, in Wang Dahua’s eyes, a fatal offense.

"President Liu, this has nothing to do with you!" Wang Dahua suddenly strode forward, shoved Liu Fang aside, and grabbed Sun Zhe by the collar. He gritted his teeth, a sinister grin spreading across his face. "Kid, you tell me. How the hell do you want to die tonight?"

Sun Zhe’s eyes glinted with ridicule, and a half-smile played on his lips. "You’re a real piece of work. A reckless fool through and through."

As he spoke, he casually seized Wang Dahua’s wrist. With just a light squeeze, Wang Dahua collapsed to his knees and let out a scream like a stuck pig.

"AHH... It hurts! It hurts! Kid, let go of me, damn it!"

Sun Zhe looked down at the man squatting before him, his face an emotionless mask. "Now then," he said coolly, "your wife laid a hand on my stepmother. How do you two plan to die tonight?"

Drenched in a cold sweat and trembling all over, Wang Dahua snarled through clenched teeth, "Kid... you just wait... I swear you won’t live to see tomorrow’s sun!"

Sun Zhe had no patience for his empty threats. He lashed out with a sudden kick, sending Wang Dahua flying backward and landing in the fountain with a loud SPLASH.

The entire venue fell into a shocked uproar.

The onlookers stared at Sun Zhe as if he were a ghost.

"Who in the world is this kid?"

"He sent Wang Dahua flying that far with just a single casual kick!"

"Is he a martial artist?"

Just then, a sharp rebuke cut through the noise from the edge of the crowd. "Who is so bold as to cause trouble at my Lin Family’s banquet!"

Sun Zhe turned toward the voice. The crowd quickly parted, revealing Lin Yingchun approaching at a brisk pace, flanked by several bodyguards.

She was pushing a wheelchair, in which sat an exquisite beauty who bore a faint resemblance to her. This woman possessed a more mature charm than Lin Yingchun, appeared slightly older, and had a pale, sickly complexion.

Ye Qiao nudged Li Shiyan. "Who’s that in the wheelchair?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

"That must be Sister Yingchun’s older sister," Li Shiyan replied. "The eldest young lady of the Lin Family, Lin Miao."

"Oh," Ye Qiao murmured, before asking again, "Then why is she in a wheelchair? Is her leg injured?"

Li Shiyan shot her a sideways glance. "Why are you so nosy? How would I know something like that?"

Meanwhile, the surrounding guests had begun to whisper amongst themselves.

"Could that be Lin Miao, one of the Four Beauties of Yang City?"

"Of course! It’s her!"

"The Lin Family sisters, Lin Miao and Lin Yingchun. I can’t believe they’re even more beautiful in person than the rumors say."

"What a feast for the eyes today. I never thought I’d get to see the famous Lin sisters in the flesh!"

"It’s such a pity. Lin Miao had a car accident years ago and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since. Otherwise, the number one beauty of Yang City might not be Su Nanzhi."

"Compared to that, I’m more worried about that kid. Daring to cause a scene at the Lin Family’s investment banquet and even alarming Lin Miao... His night is probably going to end badly."

"Hah, what’s it to us? Let’s just enjoy the show."

Lin Yingchun spotted Sun Zhe at a glance, but she wasn’t surprised. She already knew from Ye Qiao that he would be coming.

She glanced at the bodyguards at her side and said in a tone that brooked no argument, "All of you, stand down. Don’t make a scene here."

"Yes, Second Miss!"

At that moment, a disheveled Wang Dahua clambered out of the fountain and strode over to the Lin sisters.

Lin Miao offered him a gentle smile, her demeanor calm and unruffled. "What happened, President Wang?"

Wang Dahua’s face was contorted with rage. He pointed a finger at Sun Zhe and growled, "President Lin, you’ve come at the perfect time! It’s that kid! He’s the one causing trouble!"

Hearing this, Lin Miao gave Sun Zhe a long, deep look.

Lin Yingchun leaned in and whispered something into her sister’s ear.

After hearing her sister’s words, Lin Miao’s beautiful eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Sun Zhe. Her expression then grew somber. "President Wang," she said to Wang Dahua, "tonight is our Lin Family’s investment banquet. I don’t wish for things to escalate. How about you give me some face and we let this matter drop?"

Wang Dahua gritted his teeth, feeling a pang of surprise. He had never even seen someone like Sun Zhe in Yang City before. Why would a person of Lin Miao’s stature speak up for this boy?

He didn’t press the issue, however. "Fine," he bit out. "I’ll give President Lin face. I won’t cause any more trouble here!"

"But when this kid leaves later, I hope President Lin won’t interfere with what I choose to do with him!" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Lin Miao only smiled faintly. "As you wish, President Wang."

Without another word, Wang Dahua shot a final, pointed finger at Sun Zhe before helping Li Yufei away.

A moment later, Lin Yingchun pushed Lin Miao over to Sun Zhe. "Are your injuries any better?" she asked with concern.

Sun Zhe chuckled, teasing her. "Since when did the great campus belle start caring about people?"

Lin Yingchun snorted softly, her voice feigning indifference. "Who’s caring about you? But looking at you now, you’re in much better shape than you were in your half-dead state before."

"Yingchun!" Lin Miao interjected, giving her younger sister a disapproving look. "How can you speak to Divine Doctor Sun like that? Step aside for a moment. I would like to speak with him alone."

Lin Yingchun said nothing and simply pushed Lin Miao’s wheelchair toward Sun Zhe.

Sun Zhe shot a reassuring glance at Zhu Yan, Ye Qiao, and the others, then began pushing Lin Miao’s wheelchair toward a private room.

「In the private room」

"You’ve offended Wang Dahua," Lin Miao said as she poured Sun Zhe a glass of wine. "He certainly won’t let this go."

Sun Zhe shrugged nonchalantly. "If you hadn’t shown up to save him, he’d probably be on his way to the hospital in an ambulance right now."

Hearing this, Lin Miao couldn’t help but smile. He really is the Witch Master of Jiewu Palace.

"Is Wang Dahua what you wanted to talk to me about, President Lin?" Sun Zhe asked.

"Please forgive my inability to offer a proper greeting, Witch Master," she said, her expression turning serious. "My body is indisposed."

Sun Zhe was taken aback.

Lin Miao looked up at him, a faint smile on her lips. "Actually, I had already heard from Yingchun that our Jiewu Palace has a new Witch Master. I was planning to find a time to pay you a visit, but I never expected we would meet here tonight."

"So you’re also a disciple of Jiewu Palace?" Sun Zhe asked.

"Strictly speaking," Lin Miao replied, "our entire Lin Family is an external affiliate of Jiewu Palace. I wonder if the Palace Master has told you... the Lin Family’s purpose is to cultivate the Jade Yin Constitution."

Sun Zhe shook his head. "She never mentioned that."

Lin Miao sighed softly. "Unfortunately, in our generation of the Lin Family, only Yingchun possesses the Jade Yin Constitution."

"Witch Master, I presume you have already... joined with Yingchun?"

At this, Sun Zhe scratched his head, looking a little embarrassed. He quickly changed the subject. "By the way, what happened to your legs?"

"I was framed by members of the Jade Fox Sect and got into a car accident. I’ve been in this wheelchair for three years."

Sun Zhe’s brow furrowed. "The Jade Fox Sect again," he said coldly.

"The Palace Master’s throat," Lin Miao added, "it might also be their doing."

Sun Zhe nodded. "Can I take a look at your legs? It’s possible I can treat them."

Lin Miao smiled. "Yingchun just told me your medical skills are unparalleled. She said you might be able to cure my legs. That is precisely why I hoped you would be willing to take a look."

Sun Zhe’s gaze fell to her legs, clad in flesh-colored stockings. He slowly walked closer. "President Lin, if it’s convenient, could you lift your skirt a little?"
