Playboy: Medical and Martial Master-Chapter 122: Sun Zhe Gravely Injured
「More than half a month ago.」
Since the night Han Xinyue sought him out, Yue Changlin had been living in seclusion, focusing entirely on healing his injuries. He had now fully recovered. Two days prior, he had begun secretly tailing Sun Zhe, but he could never find an opportunity to strike, as Sun Zhe always went to crowded places. But as a Hunter, he was also very patient.
Finally, tonight, he got his chance.
...
"Come with me. My lady wants to see you."
Sun Zhe gritted his teeth, slowly straightened up, and asked, "Who is your lady? Have I met her? And what grudge could I possibly have with her?"
Faced with Sun Zhe’s three consecutive questions, Yue Changlin’s gaze turned frigid and impatient. "Kid, do you think spouting a bunch of nonsense will buy you time? Rest assured, at this hour, there won’t be anyone on this street. There will be no variables tonight."
Hearing this, Sun Zhe took a slow, deep breath. He looked up at Yue Changlin, his gaze suddenly turning fierce. A dazzling electric light erupted from his body as he charged, intending to strike first. We’re both Martial Artists at the Golden Core Stage! With my True Qi Thunder Transformation, there’s no way I can’t beat him!
The next moment, however, he felt a sharp, intense pain wrack his body. His thunderous momentum instantly dissipated, and his steps became unsteady. He collapsed weakly to one knee, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood.
Yue Changlin hadn’t moved an inch. He watched Sun Zhe with mockery in his eyes. "You were just hit by my Bone-Breaking Palm. If you try to circulate your True Qi now, you’ll only accelerate the destruction of your meridians! Kid, blame yourself for provoking someone you shouldn’t have. If you want to suffer less, just come with me obediently."
Sun Zhe glared at Yue Changlin, his heart filled with indignation. He gritted his teeth. "Old bastard, if you hadn’t sneak-attacked me, a piece of trash like you..."
Yue Changlin sneered, cutting him off. "Ridiculous! The fact that you can even say something so foolish proves how naive you are.
"Young man, if you get a next life, you must remember how treacherous the martial world can be.
"If I had wanted to confront you openly, I wouldn’t have waited until now to make my move."
Sun Zhe fell silent, realizing he had no rebuttal. He staggered to his feet, a mocking smile on his face. "Old man, then let me show you the treachery of the martial world as well."
Yue Changlin’s lips curled into a smirk. "I’ll be waiting."
Unexpectedly, as soon as he finished speaking, Sun Zhe turned and fled, leaping over the roadside guardrail and vanishing from sight.
Yue Changlin was left in disarray, stunned for several seconds before it dawned on him. This was the "treachery" Sun Zhe had spoken of.
Meanwhile, Sun Zhe was already pouring all his True Qi into his legs, pushing his speed to the absolute limit. He would rather die on the run than be captured alive by Yue Changlin! Although he didn’t know who had sent Yue Changlin, he could easily imagine that his fate would be tragic—worse than death—if he were taken back.
"You little bastard, you think you can escape?" Yue Changlin’s eyes flashed with disdain as his figure flickered and he gave chase. He didn’t think Sun Zhe could get away, especially since he was severely wounded by the ambush.
As the chase dragged on, however, he realized something was wrong. Sun Zhe was incredibly fast. While he wasn’t losing him, he couldn’t catch up either. To his alarm, Sun Zhe was heading toward the school! If Sun Zhe actually made it onto school grounds, he wouldn’t be able to pursue him any further.
"Clever little bastard!" The thought of Han Xinyue’s seductive figure writhing beneath him, crying out sweetly, made Yue Changlin increasingly anxious. If I fail to bring Sun Zhe back tonight, losing face is a small matter, but losing Han Xinyue’s ’reward’ is a disaster! He decisively burned his True Qi, pushing his speed to the absolute limit.
However, he lost him in the end. Sun Zhe successfully escaped into the school.
...
Sun Zhe moved like a spirit in the night, leaving a trail of blurry afterimages. He was so fast that even the surveillance cameras couldn’t get a clear shot of him. He finally stopped running after leaping over a high courtyard wall and landing in a fountain on the other side.
He lay in the shallow fountain, letting the cold water soak his body. Staring up at the sky, he let out a long sigh of relief. It’s a good thing I spent some of my free time cultivating the Witch’s Step from Jiewu Palace. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t have gotten away tonight.
After a while, he caught his breath, struggled out of the fountain, and clutched his chest as he staggered toward the large buildings ahead. He didn’t know his exact location, only that he was on the campus of Boli Music Academy, a place he had visited once before.
He had fled to the school specifically to avoid leading trouble back to Lin Shuqing and getting her involved. The school was crowded, so even if Yue Changlin managed to catch up, he wouldn’t dare make a move so easily. Any large commotion would attract too many witnesses. Coincidentally, the ambush had occurred very close to the campus.
A moment later, Sun Zhe bought a bottle of water from a vending machine and collapsed onto a bench, tilting his head back to gulp it down. Before he could swallow more than a few mouthfuls, however, his stomach churned violently. An unbearable pain seized him, and he coughed up another spray of blood. Grimacing, his face pale, he couldn’t help but let out a string of curses before pulling out his phone and calling Ye Qiao.
A short while later, the call connected.
"Hello... Sun Zhe, do you have any idea what time it is?" Ye Qiao’s impatient voice came through the phone. Clearly, the campus beauty had been asleep.
Sun Zhe took a deep, shaky breath. "Qiaoqiao, I’m at your school."
There was a pause on the other end. "You came to my school this late? Do you miss me that much?" Ye Qiao finally asked.
"I need you to help me find a place... I have to hide," Sun Zhe said.
Ye Qiao immediately noticed something was wrong with his tone. "Sun Zhe, what’s happened? Where are you? I’ll come get you right now!"
"I don’t know where I am... just somewhere on campus."
"Okay, share your location with me on WeChat! I’m coming to find you right now!" Ye Qiao said.
...
「A dozen minutes later.」
Wearing green dinosaur pajamas with a trailing "dinosaur tail," Ye Qiao came running toward Sun Zhe. When she saw him covered in filth, soaked to the bone, with blood on his lips, her pretty face went white. She was so frantic she burst into tears. "Sun Zhe, what happened to you? Why are you coughing up so much blood?"
Sun Zhe waved a hand weakly. "First... find me a place to lie down for a bit. I can’t leave the school yet. That old bastard is probably still waiting for me."
Ye Qiao struggled to compose herself and made a swift decision. "Let’s go to my dorm! Don’t worry, Sun Zhe, I’ll protect you!" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Seeing her determined expression, Sun Zhe felt a warmth spread through his heart.
"Your dorm... Is that okay? Do you have a roommate?"
"There are only three of us in my dorm room, including me. And you know one of them—it’s Shiyan."
Sun Zhe gritted his teeth and pushed himself to his feet. "I can’t worry about that now. Just take me there."
"Sun Zhe... what exactly happened? You’re scaring me."
"I’ll explain later. Qiaoqiao, please don’t cry... I’m really fine."
