Chapter 386: Assault

Su Dongfeng, Su Changge, and Xiang Tianxing were left in a state of shock. They knew Li Pin was hailed as a Supreme Expert, his combat power far surpassing that of ordinary Legends.

Yet, watching him harness Gaia’s Celestial Force Field and sweep through Death Valley like an unstoppable storm left them utterly stunned. To him, hundreds of thousands—or even millions—of ferocious beasts and demonic creatures seemed no different from just one or two. The three Master Astral Cultivators felt their scalps tingle with disbelief.

Even the Special United Squad wasn't this efficient when dealing with demonic creatures, and it was made up of dozens of Legends and hundreds of Master Astral Cultivators.

At first, Su Dongfeng had the patience to count how many ferocious beasts and demonic creatures Li Pin had slain, but by the end, he just gave up. There was no way to keep up with the count. Li Pin killed faster than they could count.

All Su Dongfeng knew was that the number of ferocious beasts and demonic creatures that had died in Li Pin's hand definitely surpassed over three million!

That was an astonishing figure! And it had only taken him a few hours to do it!

It would be difficult to kill three million pigs in a few hours even if they stood around waiting to be slaughtered. And Li Pin had killed demonic creatures comparable to High-Class Astral Cultivators in that timeframe!

"He's too strong. Even Legends aren't this efficient when hunting demonic creatures. Hall Master Li alone might equal be able to replace the entire Special United Squad," Su Dongfeng marveled softly.

Su Changge nodded in agreement.

If other countries were to encounter a perilous region with such numbers, why would they still wait for the Special United Squad? They could just invite Hall Master Li to exterminate the ferocious beasts and demonic creatures for them.

Su Changge wore a bitter smile. "Looks like we've been reduced to beacons for the demonic creatures. All we do is activate our Starlight Bodies and attract the monsters in each area so that he can annihilate them in one fell swoop."

Su Dongfeng nodded helplessly.

Even though they could fly, Death Valley was teeming with Bouncing Demon Bees. If they foolishly thought they could gain an advantage by attacking from the air, the hundreds of Bouncing Demon Bees swarming toward them would quickly teach them just how perilous this region was.

Under such a situation, they'd have to tread very carefully even when getting close to the depths of Death Valley each time, let alone activating their Starlight Body.

But now... it was as if they might as well have yelled at all the ferocious beasts and demonic creatures on Li Pin's behalf, "Come at us all at once!"

This feeling made these Master Astral Cultivators, usually held as spiritual symbols in Taibai, feel somewhat out of place. However, they had to admit that achieving victory without lifting a hand was exhilarating in a way.

Xiang Tianxing sighed. "When I first met him years back, he was just a Martial Saint. It wasn't easy for him to even withstand the Atomic Will oppression of Top-Tier Astral Cultivators."

Su Dongfeng chimed in, "As the ancients said, 'After three days of separation, one must look at another with fresh eyes.' And he has been gone for one or two years, not just three."

"Has our team entered yet? How many Astral Crystals would we be able to collect from two to three million ferocious beasts and demonic creatures? We'd have to gather them all and present them to Hall Master Li," Su Changge pointed out. "Even though Hall Master Li didn't say anything about this, we must show some proactivity."

Su Dongfeng gestured. "Don't worry, they've led people into the battlefield to take care of the spoils."

He then smiled and said, "This is the only thing they are useful for now."

"It's a good thing to be able to reduce casualties," Xiang Tianxing remarked.

At that moment, Su Dongfeng, who possessed sensing abilities, seemed to detect something. "There seems to be a big one underground... It's much stronger than the Evil Beetle, but... probably hasn't reached the level of a legendary demonic creature."

"If it isn't the level of a Legendary demonic creature, it'd just be seeking death when fighting against Hall Master Li."

Su Changge smiled. "But we should still follow to prevent this demonic creature from escaping."

As the three of them spoke, they quickly made their way forward.

Just as they arrived beside Li Pin, a monster about thirty meters tall, with dozens of sharp legs resembling an enormously magnified centipede, suddenly burst out from a fissure in the ground below. It spewed a dense cloud of toxic mist towards the void space where they stood.

"Watch out!" Su Dongfeng exclaimed in alarm.

The toxic mist swept upward like a storm, covering a vast area of a thousand meters, leaving no room for them to evade.

Even though Li Pin had used the Celestial Shift Technique immediately, he couldn’t completely avoid the toxic mist in time. As the mist spread, Li Pin sensed a strange power rapidly infiltrating him.

This power seemed to subtly dissolve cells while simultaneously suppressing the activity of astral energy within the body.

However, Li Pin had no astral energy within him to begin with. At most, the operations of the perception-enhancing astral equipment he wore became slightly sluggish.

Li Pin glanced at Su Dongfeng, Su Changge, and Xiang Tianxing. "Is this a divine ability that is designed to counter Astral Cultivators?"

The rapid decrease in astral energy activity caused the three to not have enough energy to sustain their flight and plummet down from the sky.

Master Astral Cultivators especially had it rough when the activity of astral energy decreased. Because they integrated their consciousness with Atomic Will, low astral activity meant the medium for communication between Atomic Will and their consciousness would be severed.

They would become akin to disconnected devices, losing control over themselves. They would stiffen and fall straight down, rigid and unmoving.

The demonic creature below seized the opportunity, swinging dozens of blade-like sharp legs. It opened its grotesque mouth and leaped up, seemingly ready to swallow the three Master Astral Cultivators whole.

Rumble!

As the monster moved to devour the stiffened Master Astral Cultivators, a sharp whistling sound tore through the air.

Cosmic River Sword Attack!

The toxic mist's ability to reduce astral energy activity severely impacted Master Astral Cultivators, but Li Pin was a Martial God. It had little to no effect on him.

As the Celestial Force Field descended, dozens of sword auras shot out like missiles from a fighter jet. They engulfed the demonic creature before it could swallow Su Dongfeng, Su Changge, and Xiang Tianxing.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Sword auras seethed and erupted!

The thirty-meter-long monster's flailing sharp legs were snapped and torn up. Green blood splattered everywhere, scattering onto the ground.

The sword energy continued its momentum, piercing the demonic creature and leaving more than a dozen massive gashes.

Three layers of sword energy overlapped and exploded at specific points, severing the monster's spine. The enormous monster was almost broken in half, and chunks of flesh exploded in a mist of green blood. They crashed to the ground, kicking up dust and shards of rock.

If any human or a regular demonic creature had sustained such grievous wounds, their injuries would have been fatal. Yet, this lord-level monster quickly dove into the fissure it had emerged from, fleeing at full speed with more than half of its body gone.

Li Pin leaped forward and swiftly caught the three falling from the sky.

Fortunately, the poison was only from a lord-level monster and was manageable. As the three Master Astral Cultivators fully activated their internal astral energy and did their utmost to enhance the resonance between their will and Atomic Will, the unique astral energy fluctuations of Master Astral Cultivators gradually returned to them.

Xiang Tianxing's brows furrowed. "What is this!?"

Su Dongfeng answered with lingering fear, "Some demonic creatures have evolved methods specifically designed to counteract us Astral Cultivators. The effects are quite similar to the Frost Ring. We've encountered monsters with similar abilities in the Degenerate Temple, but the toxins released by those demonic creatures are worlds apart compared to this one."

He quickly regained his composure and turned to Li Pin. "This monster doesn't just have methods to counter us but also knows how to hide and ambush, indicating that is very intelligent... A creature like that must be eliminated as soon as it is discovered. If it grows further and steps into the Legendary realm, it will undoubtedly become a grave threat to humanity."

Li Pin nodded. "You guys retreat first. I'll chase after that monster."

"No! I'll go with you! I can sense the location of that demonic creature!" Su Dongfeng said.

Su Changge and Xiang Tianxing quickly spoke up too.

"We'll go too! We'll be able to keep a lookout for each other!"

They were all holding back their frustration from the unexpected setback.

"Who knows how many of those giant centipede lord-level monsters there are? If they're like the Evil Beetles and dozens or even hundreds of them appear to attack at once... even I will find it hard to handle them." Li Pin said solemnly, leaving them no room for dispute, "So one person tagging along with me is more than enough to sense that demonic creature's location."

Su Changge and Xiang Tianxing imagined the scene of over one hundred Sinister Centipedes darting out from underground and attacking. They couldn't help but shudder. Any Legend would find themselves in a dire situation facing only eight or ten of them, let alone over one hundred.

As for them, they were Master Astral Cultivators, not even Legends. The fact that they had almost died at the demonic creature's hands was the best proof of this.

"Let's go," said Li Pin.

He then entered the fissure together with Su Dongfeng, chasing after that demonic creature.

Seeing this, Xiang Tianxing and Su Changge stood watch at the fissure's entrance, preventing this fissure from being covered up by other demonic creatures that were rushing over from the Death Valley.

Su Dongfeng's Astral Palace recorded a sensory tracking Astral Technique. Even though that demonic creature had fled out of a range of dozens of kilometers, he could still accurately locate it.

The two men entered deep underground and gave pursuit. In the blink of an eye, they had darted out for dozens of kilometers.

Although they did encounter ferocious beasts and demonic creatures on the way, the numbers were undoubtedly a lot lesser than what they encountered on the ground.

It was like the underground area was that demonic creature's terrain and there was deterrence for ordinary demonic creatures to not easily enter the domain.

The two gave pursuit for dozens of kilometers. According to Su Dongfeng, they were supposedly getting increasingly closer to that demonic creature.

Suddenly, however, a look of shock appeared on Su Dongfeng's face, and he murmured, "How is that possible!?"

"What's the matter?" Li Pin asked.

"It disappeared." Su Dongfeng's countenance became a little grim. "That demonic creature's traces suddenly disappeared approximately 1.5 kilometers in front of us."

Su Dongfeng lost track of it?

Li Pin didn't blame him. He asked, "Since it disappeared 1.5 km ahead, we will naturally find out why once we get there."

Su Dongfeng nodded.

The two of them advanced quickly. After wiping out over ten ferocious beasts and demonic creatures that came courting death, they arrived at the place where that lord-level demonic creature disappeared.

This was an underground space that was slightly more spacious than the surroundings. It didn't seem that there was anything strange about it. However, when Li Pin really arrived in this domain, he sharply noticed a familiar feeling.

He followed this feeling and carefully made his way forward. Finally, after advancing for several dozen meters, he seemed to notice something.

"This is..."

He then took a step forward and disappeared from Su Dongfeng's sight.
