Piss Off, Alpha! You Lost Me Forever-Chapter 86 Another Jealous Man
SOPHIA’S POV
The words hit like claws slashing across my heart. My wolf howled in pain and rage.
"I have never abandoned my daughter," I said. "And you have no right-"
"I have every right," Simon cut me off. "I’m protecting my friend’s interests and his interests include making sure his wife doesn’t embarrass him by sleeping around."
"I’m not sleeping with anyone!" The words came out loud. Several other diners turned to look at us.
"Then why are you always with him?" Simon jerked his chin toward Lance. "Why was he at your apartment? Why are you holding hands in public? What kind of married woman acts like this?"
Lance stood up. I could see gold flashing in his eyes as his wolf demanded to be let out.
"The kind who’s being neglected and disrespected by her mate," Lance said coldly. "Sophia has every right to choose who she spends time with. Especially when her husband is too busy playing house with his girlfriend to notice his own wife exists."
Simon stood too. The dominance radiating off him made me shiver a bit. He was an alpha’s beta, used to making other wolves submit.
"Careful, doctor," Simon said "You’re already unemployed, scrambling to study for exams, trying to claw your way back into a career. It would be a shame if certain people in the medical community heard about your... questionable character”
Oh goddess..
I looked at Simon in disbelief. He was threatening Lance?
Lance didn’t back down "Do what you want, Simon. My conscience is clear. I haven’t done anything wrong."
"Maybe not," Simon said with a cruel smile. "But perception is everything, isn’t it? One word from Damien to the right people, and you’ll never work as a doctor again. Not in this city. Not anywhere."
My wolf was snarling now.
How dare he threaten Lance like this?
I grabbed Lance’s arm and stood up.
"Enough," I said "You’ve made your point, Simon. You’re a loyal dog who does whatever his master tells him. Congratulations."
Simon’s eyes flashed gold. "Watch your mouth-"
"No, you watch yours," I snapped. "I’m done listening to you insult me and threaten my friends."
I turned to look at Damien. He was watching us now, Tiffany still clinging to his arm.
"Your beta is harassing me," I called out across the restaurant. "Are you going to do anything about it?”
Damien’s expression was still blank. His eyes narrowed slightly, and I saw his wolf flash behind his eyes for just a second.
"Simon," he said quietly but his voice was filled with alpha command. "Enough."
Simon’s mouth snapped shut. He looked like he wanted to argue, but the alpha order was too strong. He gave me one last hateful look before walking back to their table.
I grabbed my purse and turned to Lance. "Let’s go."
We walked toward the door, and I could feel Damien’s eyes on me the entire way. My wolf was howling. She felt torn between the mate bond that still connected us and the hurt and anger that had built up over years of neglect.
Just before we left, I stopped and turned back one more time.
"You know what the worst part is, Damien?" I said "It’s not that you don’t love me. I’ve known that for a long time. It’s that you won’t even respect me enough to let me go with dignity. You keep me trapped in this marriage while you build a life with someone else. You let your friends attack me, question my character, threaten people I care about while you just sit there and watch."
Damien’s jaw clenched.
"I used to think the mate bond meant something," I continued "I guess I was wrong”
I didn’t wait for a response. I turned and walked out with Lance right behind me.
"Are you okay?" Lance asked softly.
I shook my head. "Can you take me home? To my parents’ house?"
"Of course."
We walked to his car in silence. The drive to Sky Manor was quiet too. Both of us were lost in our own thoughts. Lance’s wolf was still agitated - I could smell it on him - but he kept himself controlled.
When we pulled up to the gates of Sky Manor, I thanked him quietly and got out of the car.
That’s when another car door opened and someone grabbed my arm, pulling me backward.
I yelped in surprise as I was pulled into a luxury sedan. The door slammed shut and the car took off before I could even process what was happening.
"What the-" I turned and froze.
Zade was sitting beside me. His expression was annoyed.
I gasped in shock. What was Zane doing here?
"You’ve been ignoring me," he said "I’ve called you twelve times in the past three days. Twelve, Sophia, and you haven’t answered once."
My heart was still racing from the shock. "You can’t just kidnap people, Zade!"
"I didn’t kidnap you. I gave you a ride." He leaned closer, his eyes intense. "After I spent forty million on a bracelet for you, I think I deserve at least a phone call."
“I didn’t ask for that!”
His eyes turned dark. His wolf was right there beneath his skin. I could feel the power radiating off him. He was an alpha in his own right, used to getting what he wanted.
"I saw you tonight," he continued. "With that doctor holding hands, Looking at each other like..." He stopped, his jaw clenching. "You should be looking at me like that."
