Piss Off, Alpha! You Lost Me Forever-Chapter 49 Jealous Jealous
THIRD PERSON’S POV
Lance jogged after Sophia as she walked away.
“Sophia,” he called, breathless.
She kept walking. Her shoulders were stiff. Her head was held high, like she was forcing herself not to look back. Inside, her chest felt tight. She hated that she was running again. Running was all she ever seemed to do lately.
“Sophia, wait,” Lance called again, louder this time.
She stopped then spun around to face him. She turned around too fast. Big mistake.
The heel of her shoe caught on the uneven pavement. There was a sharp twist and then pain exploded up her leg.
“Ah!” she cried out.
Her ankle twisted. For a split second, she panicked as she fell to the floor.
Lance moved forward on instinct. His heart slammed hard against his ribs as he reached her. His arms wrapped around her waist just in time.
“I’ve got you,” he said quickly.
Sophia gasped, holding his shoulders. Pain shot through her ankle again. She tried to straighten, tried to put weight on it, but the moment her foot touched the ground, the pain was too much.
“No-” she winced.
Lance tightened his hold on her, keeping her upright. “Easy. Don’t move.”
Her face had gone pale. She swallowed hard. She was in pain but she also felt embarrassed.
“It’s... my ankle,” she said through clenched teeth. “I can’t stand on it.”
Lance’s eyes were filled with concern. He lowered his voice. “Okay. It’s okay. I’ve got you.”
He helped her lean against him and crouched carefully in front of her. His movements were gentle. He examined her ankle. It was already swelling.
“Damn,” he muttered softly. “It’s swelling fast.”
“I’m fine,” Sophia said immediately, out of habit.
Even as she said it, her eyes burned. I’m not fine. I’m never fine.
Lance looked up at her. “You’re not fine.”
She tried to force a smile. “I’ve had worse.”
“That doesn’t mean you ignore this,” he said calmly. “Can you walk?”
She shook her head. She was stubborn even now. “I don’t need—”
She tried again to step forward and whimpered when pain tore through her ankle. Her bravado collapsed in an instant.
“That answers that,” Lance said.
Before she could protest again, he slid one arm behind her knees and the other around her back and lifted her clean off the ground.
“Lance!” she shrieked. “Put me down!”
He ignored her completely. “Stop arguing.”
People nearby turned to stare. Sophia’s face turned red with embarrassment.
She slapped weakly at his shoulder. “You’re making a scene.”
“You twisted your ankle,” he replied as he carried her back toward the restaurant. “You need ice. And you need to sit.”
“I can handle it myself,” she snapped, even though she knew she couldn’t.
“No,” he said simply. “You can’t. And that’s okay.”
She fell silent, fuming and embarrassed. Her head rested against his chest.
She could feel his heartbeat against her ear. It made her chest ache. Why is he still this kind to me?
Lance brought her in through a side entrance and found a quiet corner booth away from the main dining area. He set her down carefully. He pulled a chair close and gently lifted her injured foot onto his lap.
“Hey-” she started.
“Don’t,” he said softly.
He took her heels off carefully. She winced as her ankle shifted. It was already turning purple, swelling visibly.
Lance exhaled through his nose. “That’s a bad sprain.”
He waved down a waiter. “Can we get some ice and a towel, please.”
The waiter nodded and hurried off.
Lance’s fingers touched her skin as he examined the ankle more closely.
“Where does it hurt most?” he asked.
She pointed shakily. “There.”
He pressed lightly. She hissed in pain. It hurt so much.
“Okay,” he said. “It’s not broken but you need to stay off it.”
The waiter returned with ice wrapped in a towel. Lance thanked him and pressed the cold pack against her ankle. Sophia flinched at the shock.
“Relax,” he murmured. “Breathe.”
His other hand worked gently around the swelling. He was careful not to cause more pain. Sophia watched his face. He was focused and he looked worried too. He looked tired, too tired.
Guilt twisted in her stomach again. He shouldn’t be here. He shouldn’t be doing this for me.
Neither of them noticed the shift in the room when Damien walked in.
Damien entered the restaurant with his usual commanding presence. His suit was flawless. His wolf radiated off dominant waves without him even trying. His wolf stirred the moment he crossed the threshold, restless and alert.
He scanned the room automatically. Then he saw her.
Sophia.
His blood went cold. She was the last person he expected to see here.
What was she doing here?
She was sitting in a corner booth with one shoe off. Her bare foot was on another man’s lap.
It was Lance, the doctor. The one Damien had crushed without hesitation.
Lance’s hands were on her ankle, on her skin. His hold on her was too intimate. Sophia leaned close, speaking quietly. Then she smiled.
She fucking smiled.
Damien’s vision darkened. His wolf growled inside him. His jaw clenched hard, teeth grinding.
She moved on already?
The thought burned. The feeling of jealousy hit him. He hated it. He refused to admit it. He told himself he didn’t care.
He pulled out his phone and called his beta, Will.
“Alpha?” Will answered.
“Freeze Sophia’s accounts,” Damien said coldly. “Everything tied to me. Do it now.”
There was a pause. “Alpha, are you sure?”
His voice dropped to a dangerous tone. “Do it.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Will replied immediately.
Damien ended the call, his eyes never leaving the booth.
In the corner, Lance finished wrapping the ice. The swelling had gone down slightly.
“You still need X-rays,” he said gently.
Sophia nodded. “Thank you,” she whispered. I don’t deserve you.
He studied her face. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she lied.
He didn’t push. He stood and slipped an arm under her again. “I’m taking you to the hospital.”
She opened her mouth to argue, then closed it. She knew she’d lose.
He lifted her easily and carried her toward the exit.
Sophia wrapped her arms around his neck. Her face still burned with embarrassment. She hid against his shoulder.
Across the room, Damien watched them leave. His wolf growled even louder. Anger filled him.
Tiffany appeared just then.
“Hi honey” she said with a smile “I’ve been waiting for you. I -” 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
She stopped when she noticed his mood. She could feel the anger radiating off him. She said nothing.
She only touched his arm lightly.
“Let’s sit,” she suggested softly.
Damien nodded and followed her to their table. He ordered whiskey.
He stared into nothing. The image was burned into his mind.
He kept seeing Sophia in another man’s arms, smiling at him.
His wolf paced furiously inside him.
