Piss Off, Alpha! You Lost Me Forever-Chapter 120 The Intruder
SOPHIA’S POV
"What the hell are you doing in my room?" I hissed, my hand still frozen on the light switch. My heart was pounding so hard I could hear it in my ears. "How did you even get in here?"
Zade stood slowly. His alpha presence filled my small bedroom. In the moonlight, I could see the slight smirk on his face, the way his eyes tracked my every movement.
"I missed you," he said simply, as if that explained breaking into my family’s home. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes. "God, even your room smells like you”
My face burned red “That doesn’t answer my question. How did you get in? And why-"
"I couldn’t sleep," Zade interrupted, taking a step closer. I stepped back. "I’ve tried everything - sleeping pills, whiskey, exhausting myself at the gym. Nothing works. All I can think about is you."
"So you decided to break into my house?" My voice rose slightly before I caught myself and lowered it. "Are you insane?"
"Probably." Another step forward. "But you wouldn’t come to me, Sophia. You made that very clear. So, I had to come to you."
"My brother is literally in the room next door," I said. My wolf was on high alert now, unsure whether we were in danger or not. "If he finds you here, he’ll shift and tear you apart for trespassing."
"Your brother is a heavy sleeper. I checked." Zade’s eyes went dark "And I didn’t exactly break in. I found a way."
That’s when I noticed it - the window behind him was open. My window. I remembered closing and locking it this morning before I left for work.
"You climbed up to my second-story window?" I stared at him in disbelief. "You could have broken your neck!"
"Worth the risk." He shrugged. "Besides, I’m an alpha. We’re built for this kind of thing."
"You’re built for being a stalker?" I shot back "Because that’s what this is, Zade, stalking. "
Instead of answering me, Zade reached for the buttons of his shirt and began undoing them slowly, his eyes never leaving mine.
My brain short-circuited. "What are you doing?"
"Getting comfortable." Another button. "Since you won’t let me leave yet, I might as well-"
"Stop!" I lunged forward to stop his hands, but my foot caught on the edge of my shoes and I stumbled.
Zade caught me before I hit the floor. His arms wrapped around me and pulled me against his chest. I could feel his heartbeat against my palms.
"Careful," he murmured. His face was so close to mine that I could feel his breath on my cheek. "Can’t have you getting hurt."
"Let go of me," I demanded.
Instead of releasing me, Zade buried his face in my hair and inhaled deeply. "Do you know what you do to me?”
I swallowed hard “Zade-”
Zade swept me off my feet and placed me on my bed.
"Zade!" I scrambled backward, but he followed, caging me in with his arms on either side of my body. "Stop this! You can’t just-"
He caught my wrists, pinning them above my head with one large hand. "Can’t what? Touch you? Want you?”
My heart was racing so fast I felt dizzy.
"Please," I whispered. I was suddenly aware of how vulnerable I was. "Please don’t do anything you’ll regret."
Something in my voice must have gotten through to him because Zade’s expression softened. "Sophia, I would never hurt you. You have to know that."
"Then let me go."
"I will....in a minute." His thumb traced circles on my wrist, sending shivers through me. "I just need-"
A knock on my door made us both freeze.
"Aunt Sophia?" Klara’s small voice came through. "Are you okay? I heard noises."
Panic shot through me. Zade immediately released my wrists and dove under my covers, pulling the blanket over himself completely.
I took a shaky breath and called out, "I’m fine, sweetheart! Just... stubbed my toe on the furniture."
"Can I come in? I want to make sure you’re not hurt."
"No!" The word came out too fast. I tried to soften it. "I mean, I’m not dressed, honey. I’m in my pajamas already."
There was a pause. Then Klara’s voice: "But I heard you talking to someone."
My mind raced. "I was... on the phone with a friend"
"Oh." Another pause. "Are you sure you’re okay?"
"I’m fine. I promise." I could feel Zade shifting under the covers beside me. "Just really tired, Klara. I need to sleep."
"Okay..." Klara didn’t sound convinced. Then: "Aunt Sophia? Why is there a big lump in your bed?"
My blood ran cold. I looked down at the obviously person-shaped bulge under my covers.
"That’s... that’s my body pillow!" I said quickly. "You know I can’t sleep without it."
"Since when do you have a body pillow?"
"Since... recently. I got it for my back. Doctor’s orders." The lies were flowing now. "Please don’t tell anyone, okay? Your mom will worry and try to make me see a specialist."
"But it’s moving," Klara said suspiciously.
Under the covers, Zade had the audacity to shake with silent laughter.
"That’s just... air pockets" I was going to kill him. "Please, Klara. I really need to sleep. Can we talk in the morning?"
"Promise you’re okay?"
"I promise."
"Pinky promise?"
"Pinky promise."
Finally, I heard Klara’s footsteps retreat down the hallway. I waited until I heard her bedroom door close before yanking the covers off Zade.
"Are you insane?" I hissed. "She almost caught you!"
Zade was grinning. "Body pillow? That’s the best you could come up with?"
"This isn’t funny!" I smacked his shoulder. "Do you have any idea what would happen if my family found a strange man in my bed? Marco would literally kill you!"
"Would he?" Zade caught my hand before I could hit him again. "Or would he understand that sometimes you can’t control who you’re drawn to?"
"I’m not drawn to you,"
"Then why are you still touching me?" He glanced down at where my hand was still pressed against his chest.
I snatched my hand back. "You grabbed it!"
"Did I?" he grinned "My mistake."
"You need to leave now, before someone else hears you."
"I will." But he didn’t move. "On one condition."
"You don’t get to make conditions when you’ve broken into my house!"
"Hit me."
I blinked. "What?"
"You’re angry. I can see it in your eyes." Zade leaned back against my headboard, spreading his arms wide. "So hit me. Get it out of your system. I can take it."
"I’m not going to hit you."
"Why not? I’ve invaded your space, terrified you, almost got you caught by your niece. I deserve it." His expression was sincere now. "Come on, Sophia. Just once. As hard as you want. I won’t stop you."
There was something about the offer - the complete vulnerability in it - that made my anger fade a bit. He was giving me power over him, control in a situation where I’d had none.
So I slapped him. Not hard, but not gently either.
Zade didn’t even flinch. He just looked at me with those intense eyes and said, "Feel better?"
"No."
"Want to try again?"
"No." I rubbed my hand. "I want you to leave."
He reached up and caught my hand, the one I’d just hit him with, and pressed it to his cheek. "You care about me. At least a little. You wouldn’t have hit me if you didn’t."
"That makes no sense."
"Doesn’t it?" His thumb traced the back of my hand. "If you truly didn’t care, you would have just called for your brother and had me thrown out. But you didn’t. You protected me from Klara. You’re protecting me now."
He was right, and I hated it.
"I’m going to treat you well, Sophia," Zade said softly. "Better than he ever did. Better than you’ve ever been treated. All you have to do is let me."
My wolf stirred inside me at his words.
Did he really mean them?
