Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 80: Measures Taken
Ye Jun didn’t care about the world. Why should he when the world had only given him misery and agony? As for the people, they were the worst part. So why should he care about any of them?
There were only a few people he cared about. In this life, there were only two, so only their safety mattered, not that of others. But Song Liangxue was also right. Without the world, they would also die.
’I should stop acting like a kid,’ he sighed and looked up. "Alright, I’ll help as well. We first need to find more about this dream. How much of it is true and how much false. Only then will we come to a decision."
"Yes, and that requires a lot of research," Song Liangxue said. "How much do you know about this world?"
"Practically nothing," Ye Jun replied honestly. "I mean, only the things that I’ve heard people and clansmen talk about, so some common knowledge. Otherwise, I don’t even know how to write and can only read basic stuff."
His mother died when he was young, so he didn’t really get a good education. Fortunately, Su Yunfei had taught him basic reading, so he wasn’t completely illiterate.
Remembering the memories in which the disabled man taught him in an old house, his expression softened and sadness flashed in his eyes, which he quickly covered up.
"We’ll have to solve that problem," Meihui said, facepalming, as she had forgotten about this subject. "Yes, you should leave the research part to us. We know where to search effectively."
"And you should focus on advancing," Song Liangxue said. "Use that physique to its limits and advance fast. If the world is truly ending, we’ll need strength. Also, we’ll teach you how to read and write. They are important skills."
"Sure, I can do that."
"Remind me in the morning to give you the cultivation manual," Meihui said. "It focuses on building a sturdy foundation, something you desperately need."
"Indeed. You’re advancing rapidly, which weakens your foundation. At one point, this physique would lead to your death," Song Liangxue nodded beside her. "I was also thinking of giving a similar cultivation manual."
"Thank you. You two really are the best," Ye Jun smiled, seeing the concern in their eyes. "Also, this mark gave me something else. I can sense some locations."
"More tombs?" Song Liangxue mumbled to herself. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Perhaps more clues to this dream," Ye Jun said. "They pull me toward them through this mark, and all of them are in the south or other directions except one. That one is further in the north."
"Once we settle in the sect, we’ll explore that area," Song Liangxue declared. "It might be harder than this, so we’ll need to prepare first."
"Wait, what do you mean we?" Ye Jun raised an eyebrow in surprise.
"What? You thought I’ll leave you alone?" Song Liangxue blinked, her long eyelashes fluttering. "You can’t get rid of me, dear. I’m going to accompany you everywhere."
"Of course not. Who wouldn’t love to have a beautiful wife to cultivate with?" Ye Jun grinned. "It will actually motivate me to work harder."
"You two are the weirdest persons I’ve met," Meihui said, her expression odd. "We were just talking about the world possibly ending and you’re back to flirting with each other."
"We are already doing what we can, so there is no point in worrying uselessly," Song Liangxue shrugged lightly. "Troubles come and go. It doesn’t mean we need to keep ourselves depressed about them."
"Exactly. Also, this is the best time to flirt if the world is ending," Ye Jun countered. "I’m not dying knowing I didn’t even have enough fun."
"Yes, yes, it was my mistake to question you two," Meihui sighed. "But you may be right. I’m taking this way too seriously."
"I mean, you do know stuff we don’t, so it’s that serious, so your concerns are valid," Ye Jun said, smiling at her. "So don’t beat yourself up over it."
Song Liangxue rubbed her chin and thought, ’He teases her, but also knows when to praise her. My hubby is quite good at this game. Sadly, this girl is quite dense, so it might take forever.’
"So, this is it," Ye Jun said, tapping the table. "Well, there’s one more thing which I can’t remember. I have a bad feeling about it, like if I do remember it, I’ll face a fate worse than death."
"Must be related to that titanic creature you saw," Song Liangxue guessed. "Or the Monarchs. You did say you felt like they shouldn’t be watched or something. Maybe their name is the same."
"Yes. The dream gave you protection, but it’s reality now," Meihui said. "Don’t force it. If it’s important, we might get more on it in other locations."
"That’s true," Song Liangxue nodded. "So that concludes everything, right?"
Ye Jun nodded. They had covered the important parts and also made plans for the future. There was little they could do after this.
"Great, then we can proceed with our engagement," she smiled and said. "I did come here for that."
"Oh, I’m also curious about it," Meihui played with her blonde hair and said, her voice low and shy. "I never saw a wedding or engagement ceremony. In the North, it’s different from the Central Lands, right?"
"Yes, and it’s a pretty simple one," Song Liangxue snapped her fingers. "Aunt, please bring the blood pendant and be the witness of our engagement."
In the next second, a figure clad in black robes appeared beside them. She pushed back the hood, revealing a beautiful small face and dangerous slit-like eyes which observed them carefully.
She took out two pendants with gold chains and a small glass bead at the center. As she handed them over to Song Liangxue, she smiled. "I’ll gladly be the witness. It’s an honor of mine."
Meihui shifted backward, looking at everything with an odd mixture of intrigue, curiosity, and even jealousy.
Song Liangxue handed one blood pendant to Ye Jun and asked, "You know what to do, right?"
"Fortunately, yes."
He took out his dagger as Song Liangxue stretched her hand toward him. Looking at her soft, pale jade-like skin, Ye Jun felt an urge to kiss every part of her body.
’Control yourself.’
