Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 60: Satisfaction Of Winning
Wind Qi erupted violently around Ye Chen as he forced himself back onto his feet. Blood slid down his chin, yet the hatred and anger in his eyes only deepened.
Instead of retreating, the surrounding air gathered tighter around him, forming spiraling currents that screamed sharply through the burial hall.
He was pushing himself.
Ye Jun immediately noticed the instability in those currents and smiled. His small trick was working.
’He’s forcing circulation despite the injuries.’
Ye Chen raised his hand, and the fallen sword trembled before flying back into his grip. The wind around the blade compressed until it became almost invisible, leaving only a faint distortion in space.
Then he attacked again.
This time, Ye Chen abandoned precision entirely and chose overwhelming speed. His figure blurred repeatedly, appearing from different angles as sword strikes descended like a raging storm.
Ye Jun stepped back once, then twice, his dagger moving continuously to deflect the incoming attacks. Sparks scattered while wind blades scraped across his sleeves and cheek, leaving shallow cuts behind.
Pain barely registered as Pain Resistance numbed everything. His mind remained calm as his rational mind had long since taken over. That told him to remain passive for now, so he defended despite the piling wounds.
The attacks were faster, but sloppier. And they continued to worsen.
Ye Chen’s breathing had grown uneven too under the pressure he placed on himself. He pushed himself beyond his limits, especially in an environment that affected movement so much.
Hunter’s Focus sharpened Ye Jun’s perception as he watched the wind flow instead of the sword itself. Every movement began from the same shoulder shift, every burst of acceleration followed a forced circulation pattern.
’Predictable again.’
When the next thrust came, Ye Jun suddenly stepped forward instead of retreating. The sword passed beside his ribs, tearing his robes and leaving a bloody gash.
He ignored the pain.
Ye Chen’s eyes widened as Ye Jun entered his range completely.
Illusory Palm erupted before his vision.
Multiple palm shadows struck simultaneously, confusing Ye Chen’s perception for a fraction of a second. His defense reacted late, allowing Ye Jun’s real strike to crash into his sternum.
The impact disrupted his Qi flow instantly.
Before Ye Chen could stabilize, Ye Jun pivoted and drove his knee upward, followed by Coiled Tendon Strike that smashed into his sword arm. The weapon slipped again as numbness spread through Ye Chen’s muscles.
Panic flickered across his face as he tried to circulate his Qi again. He attempted to use his techniques once more.
However, Ye Jun didn’t slow down to give him enough time.
He used Ashen Phantom Steps again, his figure circling behind Ye Chen as killing intent surged naturally through him. The dagger stopped just short of Ye Chen’s throat as Ye Jun instead slammed his palm into Ye Chen’s back.
Crushing Mountain Fist exploded against his spine as a bone-shattering sound echoed in the silent chamber.
The force sent Ye Chen crashing across the stone platform, rolling several times before finally stopping near the edge of the First Step.
He tried to rise but failed miserably. Pain engulfed his whole being as wounds piled up, blood dripping beneath his body while his bones refused to support his figure.
Wind Qi dispersed uncontrollably around him, as he couldn’t even focus properly anymore.
Ye Jun walked forward slowly, breathing steady, gaze unwavering and calm. There was no happiness behind his eyes. He hadn’t truly accomplished his revenge yet.
’But I defeated him.’
That made a deeper part of him very happy. For years, he had lived in his younger brother’s shadow, under torment and humiliation. For so long, the previous Ye Jun had desired to defeat Ye Chen and crush him.
That part of the path was satisfied.
’Not yet.’ 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
He sheathed his dagger and caught Ye Chen’s leg, then dragged him to the center of the First Step while ignoring his painful cries. He didn’t care if the dragging hurt him even more.
’Even better.’
"Let go of me, you bastard!" Ye Chen cried out.
"Too late, little brother," Ye Jun muttered as he let go of him and then placed his knees on his chest. "You shouldn’t have killed them."
He clenched his fist and punched his face. Ye Chen tried to resist, but Ye Jun simply took the dagger out and stabbed his shoulder. The blade, sharper than ever, cut through flesh and sank deep enough to lock the bones in place.
"AGhhhh!! S-Stop it!"
"Relish the pain, little brother," Ye Jun smiled cruelly and then punched his other collarbone. It was durable, so he used Blazing Sun’s Blast, which shattered the bone along with flesh and muscles.
Blood and gore spread as the silent atmosphere transformed into a cacophony of agony-filled screams. Any human would feel their hair stand on end from the chilling torture happening below.
Ye Jun could have killed Ye Chen outright. But he didn’t want to. It felt too peaceful an end for a wretched person like him. More than that...
"This is what they experienced!" Ye Jun hissed as he plunged a beast core into his wounds. "You burnt them alive! You killed them just because you couldn’t accept your inferiority."
"I-I didn’t mean to... AGHHH!!! No!!!" Ye Chen writhed beneath him, his face turning into a mess of soot, tears, and blood. Under the repeated punches, his nose had already broken, spilling even more blood.
"Even on your deathbed you can’t accept yourself. Just how pitiful are you?" Ye Jun scoffed. "Your whole life you spent trying to become like me. You pretended to be me."
"That’s not true!" he shouted, ignoring the pain. "I will never be like you!"
"Oh, you can never become like me!" Ye Jun grinned as he punched his face repeatedly again. "Nobody can become Weaver!"
Ye Jun stopped, his arm going numb. He was already injured in that arm, and after exerting so much strength with it, he felt like it was giving up on him.
Still, he was going to continue.
He placed his left thumb over Ye Chen’s eyes and said, "I don’t like your eyes. And I certainly don’t like the way you look at me."
And the next second, an inhumane screech echoed throughout the entire tomb as Ye Jun’s thumb dug deep into Ye Chen’s eye. The violent movement caused Ye Jun to lose balance as he stumbled to the side.
Ye Chen writhed like a worm in unbearable pain, and that was when Ye Jun noticed a warm light shining underneath him.
