Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 43: Next Prey
Ye Jun’s plan worked better than he had expected, as he noticed many people leaving towards the northeast side, especially after hearing the news spread to other clans and participants.
In no time at all, most of the participants knew about his situation and the treasure. Normally, the Body Strengthening Realm Martial Artists would enter this frenzy, so Ye Jun introduced the requirements of entrance in the Array Formation.
Looking at them running like headless fools, Ye Jun couldn’t help but laugh. Even if they realized the truth soon, they would have wasted more than an hour or two simply traveling and finding the location.
That was enough for Ye Jun to catch up to them.
He didn’t stay idle either. Using Meihui’s restricted Soul Sense, they found many Spiritual Beasts and killed them to gain their Beast Cores.
Most of them were killed by Ye Jun as he wanted to train, and others were dealt with by Meihui so that the Envoys checking them often would know that she wasn’t freeloading.
As long as they saw her strength, they wouldn’t doubt her rankings later on. After all, Ye Jun planned for them to enter the top together.
He always had a competitive spirit, so he didn’t like any position below the top. If he was participating in this Martial Exchange, then the first position belonged to him and Meihui.
Of course, in all of this he didn’t forget to collect the attributes from every Tier 2 Spiritual Beast he killed. Each Beast he killed made him stronger.
By now, Meihui wasn’t even surprised to see his progress. She had already termed his physique as one of the best Innate Physiques, especially since there were no major drawbacks.
The Martial Exchange was going well as he had expected.
Slowly, time ticked by and the sun traveled to sit right on top of his head. The blinding sunlight was welcomed after the chilling Black Winter.
Ye Jun was looking at a palm-sized Beast Core with two ethereal rings swirling inside it. He gave it a spin and then threw it in the Space Bag.
It was a kill from Meihui.
They were currently moving south from the eastern side, stopping near an area of rolling small hills and soft vegetation. Trees here were small and less dense, giving a strange calmness to the Wilderness.
But this only made Ye Jun more vigilant. It might be calm on the surface and might harbor the worst kind of horrors. This was the Martial World where Spiritual Beasts held the majority of the land, after all.
As they were passing through a short stream that later joined the Mercy River, Meihui sensed someone not far from them, so they went to check.
Jumping atop a tree branch, he looked ahead and whistled, "What do we have here? The lamb came to the slaughterhouse himself."
Out there, a young man wearing green robes was fighting a thick, armored Wild Red Boar. Their fight had destroyed many trees, creating a clearing in the middle as they continued to fight there.
The young man was skilled as he calmly fought the Spiritual Beast using hit-and-run tactics, targeting the Beast’s weak areas since its armor was tough to penetrate.
Even then, the Beast had managed to give serious injuries to the young man, making him bleed from many areas. Despite being injured, both of them seemed to want a death battle.
"He’s holding himself well," Meihui commented from his side. "A Second-Stage Qi Condensation Realm fighting a Middle-Grade Tier 2 Spiritual Beast is pretty impressive here, no?"
"Yes, hate to admit it but he might be better than me in Qi control," Ye Jun nodded. "Oh well, it doesn’t matter since he doesn’t have a future."
"He was with Ye Chen, right?"
Ye Jun smiled darkly. "A direct subordinate. He always followed him like a loyal dog and did everything he said. Like pissing on me after beating me to half death." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Meihui paused, then her gaze turned strange as she said, "Then, there really is no need for him to live on."
"Indeed. But he’s my fellow clansman," Ye Jun grinned and said. "I should help him, right?"
Meihui gave a speechless stare, clearly saying she wasn’t stupid enough to believe his nonsense.
"I’ll still do it, though please cover me," Ye Jun said as he jumped down from the tree and ran towards the clearing.
In no time, he was well within the range of the two of them as the young man noticed him immediately and his nose flared up in anger. It delayed him for a moment, as the Wild Red Boar’s tail hit him center in the chest, throwing him into the air.
He barely managed to dodge the following attacks from the Boar, but still kept an eye on Ye Jun.
"Don’t look at me like that," Ye Jun shouted. "I hate you, but we’re from the same clan. I will help you take down this Beast."
The young man made some distance from the Beast as he thought about Ye Jun’s words and found them too strange, but he soon noticed something and understood everything.
’That young master ditched him, so now he wants to latch back to us. A deserving end for this pathetic, lowly bastard.’
He observed his injuries and knew it was a losing fight against the Beast. Even if he won, he would be too injured by then to continue the Martial Exchange in a proper manner. His rank would be lost.
A plan formed in his mind quickly as he smiled back at Ye Jun. "Fine. Our Clan matters the most, so I’ll take your help and then kill a Tier 1 Spiritual Beast for you. That’s it."
"Fine by me!" Ye Jun shrugged as he ran around the Wild Red Boar. "So, what do I do?"
"You’re weaker, so become the bait," the young man shouted after dealing heavy damage to the Beast’s underbelly. It grew angrier for it and slammed its heavy limbs on the ground.
Ye Jun almost wanted to roll his eyes at such an obvious plan, but he pretended to hesitate for a moment before saying,
"Fine! But I won’t survive against it."
"I know! It’s our Clan’s matter, so I’ll help you this one time. Now, run towards it!"
