Picking Up Attributes From Today-Chapter 375: A Chief God’s Remnant Soul, The Great Reincarnation And Destruction Process
What was a Chief God?
That was a supreme existence! Even the mere mention of a Chief God itself was enough to make Dowa Caesar tremble all over. He said, “Stop joking around, Moro. It’s not funny at all!”
“Joking? Who’s joking with you?”
The black fog cackled and said, “I’ll just tell you the truth. The thief that stole the Dragon-Elephant City deities’ treasures is none other than a Chief God, albeit I have no idea why he’s doing something like that.”
A Chief God stealing other deities’ treasures?
It might sound awfully incredulous, but an inconceivable thing like that had indeed happened!
The black fog was also utterly puzzled.
“The thief’s a Chief God? Oh my god!”
Dowa Caesar was dismayed. He knew Moro was no decent fellow, but Moro had never lied to him during this long period that he had known him.
Whatever Moro said was definitely true. Innumerable incidents in the past had already proven this.
“Why is that Chief God doing something like this, Moro?” Dowa Caesar muttered to himself, “What kind of treasure is there that a supreme and lofty Chief God like him can’t get his hands on? Why did he steal the other deities’ belongings instead?”
“Who knows? Maybe he’s looking for something in particular.” The black fog cackled and said, “You can only count yourself unlucky to have encountered something like this because there’s no way you could’ve prevented it at all. What a pitiful fellow!”
Dowa Caesar shuddered and said, “Aren’t you supposed to be invincible, Moro? Can you stop that Chief God? Help me out here and stop him!”
“Had I been in my prime, I naturally wouldn’t have feared him, but now... We’d better just forget about it instead!”
The black fog rejected his request right away. It said, “I have no desire to mess with a Chief God-class existence at all. Even though he’s only a lesser Chief God... Eh? He’s coming over!”
As though it had detected something, the black fog instantly disappeared into Dowa Caesar and vanished from sight as though it had never once appeared.
“Moro! Moro!”
Dowa Caesar shouted his name twice.
“Stop calling for me, you fool! He’s already noticed us!” The black fog berated him furiously.
“Uh...”
Dowa Caesar hastily took the hint and shut up. One must know that Moro was his cheating device. The reason why an unvalued descendant from the clan’s branch family like him could mature into what he currently was was all thanks to Moro. He didn’t dare to even imagine how things would go if he were to lose Moro!
“What was that just now?”
It was at this moment that a leisurely, unhurried voice suddenly rang out by his ear.
“Mo—”
Dowa Caesar was about to answer out of habit when he suddenly realized something amiss. He hastily raised his head to see that someone had appeared in front of him.
He had black hair and black eyes and was as handsome and attractive as a celestial being. Dowa Caesar swore he had never seen such a good-looking human before. He was so dazzled by his beauty that he became dazed for a moment there.
“Where did that fellow from just now go?”
The newcomer was none other than Meng Lei, who raised the question again.
“W-who are you?”
Dowa Caesar snapped back to reality in shock and stared at Meng Lei in fear and horror.
“You don’t need to know who I am,” Meng Lei said dispassionately. “You need only to tell me where that fellow who was with you just now has gone.”
“W-what are you talking about? I don’t understand what you’re saying!” stammered Dowa Caesar with a face full of fear.
“Hah! It’s fine even if you don’t tell me.”
A soft chuckle escaped Meng Lei as he shook his head. Then, he reached out his right hand, pointed lightly at Dowa Caesar, and slowly uttered, “Time Replay!”
Buzz!
Time-based laws of nature instantly enveloped Dowa Caesar. The time around him slowly came to a halt and started to turn back. It went back 0.1 seconds ago, one second ago...
“W-what are you talking about? I don’t understand what you’re saying!”
“W-who are you?”
“Moro! Moro!”
“Aren’t you supposed to be invincible, Moro? Can you stop that Chief God? Help me out here and stop him!”
“What kind of treasure is there that a supreme and lofty Chief God like him can’t get his hands on? Why did he steal the other deities’ belongings instead?”
The time around Dowa Caesar went back to a dozen or so seconds ago, but oddly enough, Moro, who had been talking to him just now, didn’t show up at all from start to finish. It seemed like Moro was completely unaffected by Time Replay.
However, Dowa Caesar’s speech had completely sold it out.
“His name is Moro?”
As Meng Lei stopped Time Replay, he looked at Dowa Caesar and remarked with a smile, “To think he’s actually unaffected by time-based laws of nature. His abilities have exceeded my expectations.”
“What did you do to me?”
Dowa Caesar was incredibly fearful.
“You’re too noisy!”
Meng Lei gave a casual wave of his arm, and Dowa Caesar’s eyes rolled up into his head, and he passed out completely. It was best that he went to sleep at a time like this anyway. Perhaps he might still be able to keep his life this way.
“What? Aren’t you coming out?” A smiling Meng Lei then added, “To act so sneakily and secretive despite being a great Chief God, aren’t you just degrading yourself?”
“I only came out for a breather, yet you’ve discovered me right away. You sure have a sharp nose!”
A cloud of black fog arose from Dowa Caesar and manifested into a human. He was bald and had an ordinary human’s appearance, except for an extra eye in between his brows.
“A Death God?”
Meng Lei couldn’t help but be somewhat taken aback as he stared at the vertical eye in between the other party’s brows.
“I’m no Death God. Don’t you dare lump me together with those low-end undeads with impure bloodlines!” Moro retorted icily.
“Your name is Moro?” asked Meng Lei.
“That’s right,” replied Moro dispassionately.
“Who exactly are you?”
A puzzled Meng Lei asked, “Despite being just a divine spirit, your divine spirit is as strong as a lesser Chief God’s. Your combat prowess can be ranked among the top even in the vast universe, so why would you be in a place like this?”
“Why should I tell you?” scoffed Moro, who was completely unafraid of Meng Lei.
“Sir, for your own safety, I think you should tell me everything you know instead.” Meng Lei gave him a calm smile and added, “That’s if you’re wise enough, of course.”
“You can’t kill me.” Moro shook his head and said, “Although I’m just a remnant of my soul, this remnant soul has already gone through the Great Reincarnation And Destruction Process’ purification. Nobody can kill me even in this whole world!”
The Great Reincarnation And Destruction Process!
Meng Lei quietly took note of the term. Then, he remarked, “I’d initially thought that you were just an ordinary Chief God’s remnant soul, but little did I think that you actually also harbor other secrets on you.”
He had really only been looting Divinity Crystals just now, but little did he expect that he would detect a Chief God’s aura when he unintentionally cast a glance in this direction. He then discovered this place when he followed after the aura and teleported over.
At the sight of Moro, Meng Lei suddenly realized that it was highly likely that he was about to strike gold!
“I certainly have a lot of secrets, but what has it anything to do with you?” scoffed Moro.
“I can’t be bothered to say any more meaningless crap.” Meng Lei said dispassionately, “Tell me everything you know, and I’ll consider letting you off.”
“Are you revealing your true intentions so quickly? I had thought that you would take a more indirect approach and only show your true colors after you’ve received more information from me.”
Moro shook his head and chuckled. “What an anxious little fellow. Speaking of which, are all the little fellows from this era of yours this impatient?”
“Come clean, Mr. Moro.” A smiling Meng Lei said, “Tell me everything about yourself!”
“Why should I tell you?” Moro stared at Meng Lei as though he were staring at a mentally disabled person. He said, “There’s no way you can kill me, so don’t bother threatening me with my life. It won’t work.”
“I can’t kill you?” Meng Lei shook his head. “How would we know for sure if we don’t give it a try?”
“Give it a go, then!”
Moro uttered an “oh”.
“Grim Reaper’s Eye!”
Meng Lei opened the vertical eye in between his brows.
Whoosh!
A tricolored divine light burst forth from his Grim Reaper’s Eye and instantly fell onto Moro. A terrifying devouring force swept out of the eye and furiously tried to devour Moro’s remnant soul.
Then, an amazing sight happened...
