Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead-Chapter 573: What Do You Mean By That?
Loimos saw the figures of the living soldiers retreat back into the portal they came from, as soon as they disappeared, two other undeads stepped out of the darkness and bowed to the champion.
"My Lord, it is highly unlikely that they will succeed to place for than a few portals, if at all" the first to speak was Carnifex, having been made privy to the much more detailed readings the established hideout within the realm had allowed for them to conduct, it was obvious that infiltration would only work out under very specific conditions that mere livings soldiers could neither create, nor recognise.
No matter how well Gunlaurgh and the other instructors trained them, making so many livings into true elites was impossible, they were deeply limited by their very nature, the Erado's leader was well aware of the weaknesses life brought.
"There is no need to ask, Carnifex… Champion Loimos does not plan for them to succeed" the other that spoke was as tall as Loimos himself, draped in ample black cloth, hands covered in stark black iron, head wrapped in silk as black as the eternal night and a mask that was only brighter than the rest when exposed to light as it greatly reflected it.

His presence reminded Carnifex that there were some that simply stood closer to Loimos than he did, the horned undead hadn't even known that undead personally until very recently, being the leader of a special group much like himself.
"That is right, they do not need to succeed in the mission they are following, they simply need to try and fail at it" Loimos did not elaborate, but it smelled of shenanigans and hijinks, the sort that required him to switch bodies to nullify self-imposed conditions that were incredibly costly, with would mean that their failure and then death within the realm would trigger something of great power, using the intelligence gathered already, Carnifex could guess that Loimos had used everything possible while eliminating what wouldn't function properly or using the fact that some would behave differently in some way.
It was easy to guess the core of what the putrid skeleton might be doing, but the specifics were an entanglement that it was best not to get into, may the one who made the mistake of asking be pitied for that poor fellow would receive the complete details in a single sitting.
"However, to ensure the strength and longevity of this plan's expected result, I made it so it would not begin to even take hold until five more years in this plane" how long five years here would be to the people inside was hard to tell as the readings failed to pick up the difference accurately, it seemed like the flow of time was fundamentally different in the Emerald Realm.
'This is… Risky' thought Carnifex, knowing that the use of the words 'expected result' from Loimos implied that even with all of his preparations, he wasn't certain that this plan would work out as intended, if at all.
The Emerald Realm was truly a great challenge to tackle.
"That leader of those livings… He has potential, may I take him after death?" the tall undead asked, immediately receiving approval, not like he even had to ask, the bulk of the living soldiers would be joining the rank and file once in undeath anyways.
They were all but regular soldiers, those with special abilities and that possessed talent weren't drafted into the caste of the living soldiers, they were instead receiving strong guidance from the church and instructors before relinquishing their lives, just to eliminate the threat of negators.
"Excuse me, My Lord- But five years of letting soldiers go to their death will not require your attention… Not to mention that Belliste's population of those who live in death nearly null now, only a few finishing brush are necessary, especially now that the loyalty of the four warlords is completely secured"
Indeed, the general of the vanguard had successfully conquered Belliste, many islands and realms nearby were already marked down for conquest as well, now that the matters relating to the Emerald Realm would be pretty much paused for the next five years, there was nothing for Loimos to do and watch over, but all knew that the champion would never be sitting on his hands doing nothing for even a second.
"I will be heading to another realm in the meantime"
"Which one, Champion Loimos? I have no knowledge of any realm that you could not delegate to troops to conquer" the tall undead questioned.
'Even he doesn't know?' Carnifex looked at his colleague, who also looked at him, as if both were trying to gauge the other's knowledge.
Whilst the horned undead was at the head of the Erado, a special caste in charge of culling or converting negators, Dimios, was the leader of the Verfolger, which was a caste that was regarded as sort of Loimos's personal elite force.
Being also called hero hunters amongst other things, if Dimios wasn't aware of the realm Loimos intended to tackle, then it could only mean it was one even the Verfolger couldn't accompany him in.
"Will you be going alone?" asked Carnifex, there was no need to ask about anything else as everything was already put in place in case Loimos was absent, it was on Ourlst's and Horhir's shoulder to serve as leaders of the vanguard with all the lieutenants as advisors.
They had already shown their capacity to do it with their handling of Belliste both during war and afterward, so the undead could only worry about the general himself.
He knew that Loimos was unfathomably strong, but for him to decide that a realm requiring his direct involvement meant that it was one that weakened undeads, and thus, one where he would be vulnerable.
"No, I will be taking Maliah with me"
"The living assassin?!-" Dimios shook his head, the sound of chains rattling emanating from him "Sorry for the outburst, Champion Loimos, I was just surprised that you would put yourself in a weakened state and also bring such a powerful living alongside with you"
Catching himself, the tall undead joined both hands together, not really a big fan of Maliah, for the simple reason that she was alive, everything else about her was fine and even great, if she could just die Dimios would greatly respect her.
"Do not worry, I predict that this venture will only strengthen the bond she and I share"
'Huh? What the hell does that mean?'
"Carnifex, stay on the lookout for negators"
"Dimios, stand ready to intervene in case any of the minor lords encounter issues"
Both undeads saluted their general and went on their way without further questions, even if both were awfully curious about what in damnation Loimos had meant.
