Peaceful Farm Life-Chapter 1862 - 1863: He’s Leaving Xiyun

An Yiqing grumbled, "Precisely because she is the Empress of Wufeng, she can marry many men. That’s it; my brother and she are completely impossible now."

His elder brother is none other than the Crown Prince of Xiyun, the first son of his father, destined to inherit his father’s throne. As long as Feng Feiyan remains the Empress, she and his elder brother will never be possible.

An Yiyun furrowed his brows even tighter. After a moment, he asked, "Third brother, before elder brother shut himself in, did he say anything?"

Before An Yiqing could speak, An Yiqi jumped in to answer, "Elder brother just said he wanted to be alone for a while; he didn’t say anything else."

"Elder brother must be feeling very distressed. We shouldn’t disturb him; let him have some peace." After a pause, An Yiyun continued, "Among us, elder brother is the most sensible and prudent. He won’t do anything foolish to harm himself; you all shouldn’t worry too much."

During dinner, An Yiqing, An Yiyun, An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi couldn’t eat, even though they knew their elder brother probably wouldn’t do anything foolish. Still, they couldn’t help worrying about him.

They waited by Su Yi Jing’s door, hoping for Su Yi Jing to come out.

Su Yi Jing emerged in the dead of night, and as soon as he came out, he told his five younger brothers he was fine and urged An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi to go to bed early. Seeing Su Yi Jing come out of the room put them at ease, and obediently they went back to their rooms to sleep.

Su Yi Jing also asked An Yiyun and An Yiqing to go to bed, but they didn’t leave; instead, they stayed with Su Yi Jing in the room, watching him eat his much-delayed dinner.

Su Yi Jing ate his meal expressionlessly, while An Yiqing and An Yiyun wanted to speak but didn’t know how to comfort him.

Eventually, Su Yi Jing spoke up slowly, without any hint of emotion, "Yiqing, Yiyun, for the next five years, Qi child, Lin child, Zhi child will be your responsibility."

As soon as An Yiqing and An Yiyun heard this, they became anxious, "Elder brother, what are you planning to do?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Su Yi Jing did not answer but continued, "You are their brothers; while I’m not around, you must educate them properly. You can spoil them, but don’t let them go astray, so our parents can be at ease."

"Elder brother!" It sounded very much like a farewell, and An Yiqing and An Yiyun grew more anxious, their voices rising.

"What exactly are you planning to do?" An Yiqing was so agitated he lost his temper, shouting his words at Su Yi Jing.

An Yiyun, usually patient and gentle, was also extremely anxious this time, his voice raised, "Elder brother, don’t scare us. If something happens to you, what will father and mother do? Do you want them to spend the rest of their lives missing you?"

Su Yi Jing chuckled, "You’re overthinking it. I won’t do anything foolish. I just have some matters that require me to leave Xiyun for five years."

"Why are you leaving Xiyun?" An Yiqing asked in confusion.

Su Yi Jing didn’t answer but said blandly, "You’ll find out later."

After a moment, Su Yi Jing added, "Remember what I just told you. While I’m away, as their older brothers, you must properly guide Qi child and the others. I will go back to our parents once, to explain carefully."

An Yiyun and An Yiqing exchanged glances, knowing their elder brother wouldn’t reveal his reason for leaving Xiyun right then, and that asking further would be pointless. So they stopped asking.
