Chapter 1026: Chapter 1012: Walking with Him Under Lotus Pond Moonlight (Part 1)

Lotus Pond Moonlight Pavilion is one of the must-visit sights for students and tourists at Tsinghua.

Located on East Mountain in Jinchun Garden surrounded by the lotus pond, the pavilion was built to commemorate Mr. Zhu Ziqing, who wrote the famous prose "Lotus Pond Moonlight" here.

In 1927, Zhu Ziqing taught at Tsinghua University, and as a patriotic intellectual facing the dark reality of the time, he wandered in this lotus pond in frustration and wrote this essay.

In early spring, this place is not particularly beautiful.

Having just endured a harsh winter, the branches are still bare, and there are no green buds emerging yet.

I’ve heard that in summer, the pond will be full of lotus leaves, offering a beautiful scene.

Under the bright moonlight, Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng arrived at the Lotus Pond Moonlight Pavilion.

Even late at night, there were still students in the pavilion.

Huo Feng casually parked his bike to the side, wrapped an arm around Pu Sangzhi’s shoulder, and they walked slowly along the shore into the Lotus Pond Moonlight Pavilion.

Coincidentally, when they arrived, there was already a couple in the pavilion, chatting and enjoying the view.

When Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng entered, the pavilion turned from accommodating two to four, seemingly interrupting the couple’s romantic moment.

Just at that moment, when the couple were intimate and kissing, Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng walked into the pavilion...

Consequently, the visible separation was witnessed by Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng.

That instant, the four exchanged an awkward glance.

Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng quickly turned around, facing the lotus pond, their backs to the couple, their bodies stiff.

Pu Sangzhi pinched Huo Feng’s arm and said, "Let’s go, hurry."

Huo Feng whispered back, "Isn’t the pavilion public? We can sit too."

Pu Sangzhi elbowed him, "Obviously not, ruining someone else’s date."

Huo Feng argued, "We’re on a date too. Can’t we date here? There are so many lovers on Lovers’ Slope, without anyone feeling awkward."

Pu Sangzhi frowned and looked up at Huo Feng, firmly reiterated, "Let’s go!"

"Okay, okay, let’s go..."

Huo Feng had no choice but to follow her lead.

So, the two prepared to leave the Lotus Pond Moonlight Pavilion.

Just as they were about to depart, the couple suddenly called out to them...

"Hey, classmates..."

Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng turned around at the sound, seeing the girl suddenly stand up, holding her phone and walking towards them, "Could you help us take a photo? Including the lotus pond in the background." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"Sure." Pu Sangzhi nodded.

So, Pu Sangzhi took the girl’s phone, seeing the girl run to pull the boy over to the clean pond area, not yet covered with lotus leaves, standing side by side.

"Thank you both."

Before they could start taking photos, the girl thanked them, making Pu Sangzhi feel a bit shy.

Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng stood in front of them, with Pu Sangzhi holding up the phone to take their picture.

"The lighting’s not great at night."

Pu Sangzhi tapped the phone screen, furrowing her brow, "The effect might not be great, and the scenery captured might not be very pretty."

"It’s okay, it’s okay, this will do. We just want a photo to remember, because he’s leaving tomorrow," the girl said with a smile.

"Oh... okay..."

Pu Sangzhi nodded, adjusted the lighting, and took a photo that wasn’t particularly great-looking.

Afterwards, the girl said again, "Could you take another photo for us with the Lotus Pond Moonlight plaque? With us and the plaque."

"Sure."

So, changing positions, Pu Sangzhi took another group photo for them.

Due to the night, the lighting wasn’t great, thus the photo quality wasn’t very good either.

But, at least the scenery and the people that needed to be visible were clear...

Pu Sangzhi handed the phone back to the girl, who thanked her twice, then started flipping through the photos with her boyfriend.

Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng didn’t plan to disturb them further, as she held Huo Feng’s arm, intending to lead him out of the pavilion, when suddenly they heard the girl speaking to the boy behind them, "Even though the time together was short, we have the photos as keepsakes. When you leave tomorrow, there’ll be less regret."

The boy softly replied to the girl, "Then when can we meet again? Will you go back home for the New Year?"

The girl shook her head, "No, I’m busy with grad studies, spending the summer in the lab."

Boy: "Alright."

The girl blamed him slightly, "You’re not pursuing grad studies, now we’ll be in a long-distance relationship."

Having heard enough, Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng slowly walked out of the pavilion...

Though it was just snippets of conversation, they could sense the hardships of long-distance relationships.

Huo Feng felt a bit emotional, as he stroked Pu Sangzhi’s shoulder, took a deep breath, and let out a gentle sigh...

"What are you doing?"

Pu Sangzhi looked up at him, pointing a finger at Huo Feng, "Suddenly sighing!"

"It’s suffocating."

Huo Feng patted his chest and sighed again, "You think, we’ll probably have a long-distance relationship in the future, right?"

Pu Sangzhi nodded, "Very likely."

Because if Pu Sangzhi’s academic path goes smoothly, she wants to study abroad to learn more advanced technologies and then return to serve the country.

However, Huo Feng has no plans to go abroad.

Plus, with Huo Feng’s current grades, it’s hard to go abroad!

The lazy Huo Feng from last semester now has low grades and GPA this term.

The rigid requirements to study abroad, besides personal grades, also include the average GPA.

Anyway, Huo Feng isn’t good...

Moreover, Huo Feng hasn’t even thought about studying for a master’s or a Ph.D.

So, if the future path doesn’t go wrong, the two of them might not just be in different places, but different countries.

That really saddens Huo Feng.

"Wifey, if we have to separate in the future, shouldn’t you leave me a gift before we do?"

Huo Feng held Pu Sangzhi’s shoulders and asked tentatively.

Pu Sangzhi knew exactly what he was asking, and elbowed him in the chest, saying, "Nonsense! There’s no time for that!"

"No?"

Huo Feng raised an eyebrow and looked down at her, "If you wait until you come back, won’t you be of advanced maternal age?"

Although Huo Feng’s reminder made sense, Pu Sangzhi still couldn’t imagine quickly getting pregnant...

They hadn’t even done anything yet, and she was being asked to consider pregnancy...

Pu Sangzhi shook her head, feeling it strange, "We’ll talk about it then! I think while studying, we shouldn’t consider this. Otherwise, it would affect my academics..."

Huo Feng squinted at her, "I knew it."

Pu Sangzhi looked back at him, "What?"

Huo Feng sulkily reminded her, "I knew you’d prioritize your studies above everything else. I’m not important, and neither is the child!"

Pu Sangzhi felt a chill, shook her head, "Ugh, please, don’t mention kids to me. We haven’t even started anything."

"Forget it, forget it..."

Huo Feng waved his hand, momentarily brushing away the annoyance, "Let’s not think about it, thinking too much is irritating. Wifey, why don’t we take some photos?"

"Okay." Pu Sangzhi nodded.

So, they took precious photos by the lotus pond under the moonlight.

The lotus pond is not particularly beautiful this season, but tonight’s moonlight is beautiful.

Pu Sangzhi and Huo Feng strolled around the Lotus Pond Moonlight Pavilion, walked past Jinchun Garden, and saw Jinchun Garden’s plaque. It read: [Shuimu Tsinghua, a splendid garden destination of its time.]

Leaning on Huo Feng’s shoulder, reading these words, Pu Sangzhi suddenly asked, "Do you remember what I said during my speech at the graduation ceremony?"

Huo Feng nodded, "Of course I remember. Back then you said you wanted to... something, something, Shuimu Tsinghua?"

"You say you remember!"

Pu Sangzhi slapped Huo Feng, laughing, "Anyway, I meant to leave memories unique to us at Tsinghua. So tonight is also a night worth remembering."

"My life is already filled with memories related to you."

Huo Feng patted Pu Sangzhi’s shoulder, sighing deeply, "For the rest of my life, I still need your guidance."

Pu Sangzhi smiled and nodded, "Sure... as long as you continue to handle those pesky admirers cleanly and neatly, I’ll be happy to guide you a lifetime."

"Oh, oh~"

Huo Feng laughed, "And what about your pesky admirers? How will you handle them?"

Pu Sangzhi shook her head, "I don’t have pesky admirers, you’re so high-profile, who would dare to bother me."

Huo Feng thought about it and agreed, "True. Everyone knows you’re my girlfriend, who would dare chase you~"

Pu Sangzhi knew, "That’s the difference between girls and boys. When a girl has a boyfriend, usually other boys don’t pursue her. But when a boy has a girlfriend, there are still girls who want to chase and even try to steal him. So..."

Huo Feng smirked, "So what?"

Pu Sangzhi pinched his chin, angrily saying, "You better be careful yourself!"

"Okay! Got it!"

Huo Feng cheerfully responded.
