Chapter 833: Chapter 505: Infighting Among Fellow Disciples? The Little Lady Shows Her Claws

Laboratory

The interview was proceeding tensely but orderly. Jiang Shiyi estimated the time; it was almost his turn. He took out his phone to switch it to silent mode, only to see a message from Jiang Chengsi.

[Bro, good luck with the interview.]

Followed by a mischievous emoji.

He slowly curled up the corners of his mouth. Just then, the interview room’s door opened, and an interviewee came out. The assistant said, "Number 6, please go in. Number 7, get ready." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Lin Luyou had just pulled out Jiang Shiyi’s file when the other interviewers jokingly teased her.

"Xiaolin, your senior is here." In school, addressing someone as senior or junior was normal, but in society, such titles seemed to carry a special connotation.

"Don’t be nervous; we’re here with you."

Lin Luyou nodded, and just as she was about to say thank you, one of them added:

"If anything happens... we’ll be here cheering you on from the sidelines."

And as it turned out, something did happen, and they indeed were just cheering her on from the sidelines!

"..."

Amidst the banter and laughter, Jiang Shiyi had already entered the room, and everyone instantly collected their smiles, putting on a serious demeanor.

"Hello, esteemed examiners, I’m Jiang Shiyi, and I graduated from..."

Lin Luyou pretended to browse the documents while sneakily observing him. Dressed in formal interview attire, he was wearing a black and white suit today, speaking with elegance and behaving with poise.

His naturally deep voice exuded confidence from the inside out, paired with inherent good looks, making it easy for anyone to take a liking to him.

"Xiaolin..." One of the interviewers leaned toward Lin Luyou, whispering, "Your senior is truly impressive. I’ll ask a couple of questions first, then leave the rest to you."

Lin Luyou coughed twice, just as her gaze met Jiang Shiyi’s.

He had a pair of captivating eyes, and when his mouth curved slightly, even in indifference, he was charming. Though he had a scholarly aura, the sharp angle of his jaw created a stark distance between them, his entire demeanor carrying a cold sense.

"... I’ve read your profile and some of your published articles. Given your qualifications, you could achieve great things even abroad, with several universities offering you opportunities. What made you decide to return to the country?"

Jiang Shiyi simply smiled, "Actually... the moon abroad isn’t necessarily rounder."

"Why did you choose our laboratory? From your resume, you already have a very good position at another company."

"I want to return to the original motivation and essence of studying chemistry and conducting experiments, not just experimenting for the sake of it. Your laboratory is top-notch in the country..." Most of Jiang Shiyi’s answers were standard fare, not leaving much room for critique.

Other than praising the laboratory, the interviewers had prepared for Lin Luyou to challenge him, but he unexpectedly added:

"One of the reasons I’m here for the interview is..."

"I’m here for someone."

Lin Luyou looked at him. He seemed to be gazing at the head interviewer seated in the middle, but she felt that his ink-colored eyes seemed to be focused on her.

With the heat akin to a wildfire.

Almost as if saying...

I’m here for you.

The head interviewer laughed, "For our director?"

The director of the laboratory was well-respected in the industry, attracting many interviewees.

Jiang Shiyi only smiled, not directly answering the question.

"Does anyone have any other questions?" The head interviewer directly tossed the opportunity to Lin Luyou.

Since Jiang Shiyi entered, she had remained upright, with her shoulders squared and sitting with a particularly correct posture, yet Jiang Shiyi, in contrast, appeared extremely relaxed...

The contrast between interviewer and interviewee was striking.

Jiang Shiyi looked at her, with a smile that seemed like:

A comforting pride unique to one’s own child.

"Mr. Jiang, I’d like to pose a few questions about some of the papers you’ve published..."

They let Lin Luyou ask questions, which was, in fact, a way of giving Jiang Shiyi an easy path. His resume was exceptional; the interview was almost irrelevant as he would surely be accepted after practical assessments tomorrow.

Because they thought, as fellow students, Lin Luyou would certainly go easy on him...

Unexpectedly, a series of questions left not only the other interviewers, but even the assistant responsible for recording, completely stunned.

The questions were rather sharp and intense.

They faintly sensed:

This junior seemed intent on taking down her senior!

Everyone looked at each other, suspiciously questioning whether these two had some sort of vendetta?

Jiang Shiyi, however, remained composed, his responses to some questions even being described as brilliant, which made Lin Luyou slightly furrow her brow. A setting intended for straightforward questioning and answering...
