PAMPERED BY MY THREE BROTHERS: THE RETURN OF THE NEGLECTED HEIRESS-Chapter 1790: Three moles
Chapter 1790: Three moles
"I am living this life without regrets, and even if I die at this second, I will not regret any decision I made."
The granny chuckled as she thought of what Penny had said earlier. She shook her head, standing outside the hut as she gazed at the empty tree line. Penny and the other two had already left, even though the granny insisted they stay until this all ended.
Not that she expected them to listen to her.
However, she did offer them some mode of transport at a different location. After all, Penny and the guys with her planned to go on foot. And they planned to loot any vehicle on the way — if there was one available.
"What a reckless young lady," the granny muttered. "But she is right—she’s better off without the Shadow Order or the Zorken Family."
Because holding such power comes at a cost, and it’s not a cheap one. After all, the affairs in the secret society were far more complicated and dangerous than those happening on the island right now.
The granny stared at the clearing for a while until she turned and returned to her hut. As soon as she sat down, she tapped the rough table very faintly. Not long after, someone came knocking on the door, and a huge man walked in. He barely got in through the small and short door, but he didn’t fully walk in.
The man stopped just a step from the open door, his shadow stretching inside until it reached the old woman’s feet.
"Madam," he called.
She gave him a look. "Look after that young lady’s group."
"Madam, you said you’re not going to meddle with the battle on the island," said the man monotonously.
"I did say that, however, I might still be curious who would claim the Shadow Order," she said, chuckling weakly. "But it’ll be a waste to have so many people dead on this island."
The man didn’t speak immediately. "Is she going to be the next head of the Order?"
"No," the old woman shook her head. "She holds the code, but she doesn’t want it."
The man’s hard expression didn’t change. He just stared at the old woman, who seemed too delighted with Penny. After a second, he lowered his head and didn’t answer anything.
"As you wished."
With that, the man ducked his head as he walked out of the hut, closing the door very carefully. The granny, on the other hand, just leaned back and chuckled.
"What a silly young lady, indeed," she muttered. "I hope this brother of hers won’t disappoint."
After all, claiming the code might be easy. However, what people do not understand well is that the code is a lifelong commitment. And they need the Shadow Order’s approval. The granny’s recommendation might help, but it isn’t a guarantee.
"Nathalie Zorken." The corners of her mouth curled up into a short smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "We’ll know tonight if your treachery will earn you the Shadows’ approval."
Because there was only one reason the Shadow Order wasn’t meddling with the situation in their own land. Nathalie had already taken control of the mansion not long ago, bringing in her treacherous men to force the very small fraction of the Shadow Order into submission.
In other words, Nathalie had already gained control of the island.
So, the mansion everyone was headed to was just filled with Nathalie’s men.
The other reason was, they wanted fate to decide who would soon command the entirety of the Order.

Meanwhile...
Penny, Shawn, and Slater walked their way to the location Granny had told them to go. The latter told them they would find some vehicles they could use. Hence, the walk.
"Penny." Walking beside Penny, Slater had his head turned to his sister. "Are you sure we can trust her?"
Penny nodded. "Of course! If she wanted us dead, she could’ve said the word, and we would’ve died in the hut."
"..." Slater frowned a little, but didn’t dwell on her carefreeness. Even so, he kept his eyes on his sister, letting out a shallow breath as he thought of Penny’s decision back in there.
"Miss Penny." Shawn, who was walking a step behind them, spoke quietly. "Is that old woman really the head of the Shadow Order?"
Penny and Slater looked back, only for Penny to smile.
"Of course," she said. freёwebnoѵel.com
"How did you know?"
"Hmm..." Penny rubbed her chin and shrugged. "Instincts."
She looked ahead and added, "This island is now a battleground, and yet, an old granny is living so peacefully in the middle of the woods all alone. Unless she’s a witch, that would explain it."
"..." Shawn studied her back before he nodded in understanding, thinking Penny did have a point.
This entire island was now a red zone. It was strange to meet an old grandma in the middle of nowhere, and she was acting as if there wasn’t a war happening on the very island she was living on.
As for Slater, he cast his sister a side-eye. Penny was just staring ahead, her steps consistent — not slow, not fast.
’Is that really the reason?’ he wondered.
Penny’s brows rose as she glanced at Slater, who was just staring at her side for far too long. She offered him a short smile and said nothing.
The answer she had given Shawn was the truth. It was just a lie she came up with on the spot because the real answer on how she found out about the granny would only earn her more questions from Shawn. How she found out was very simple — Zoren.
Zoren once used the code and accepted the Shadow Order, and the organization also accepted him.
According to him, the current leader of the Shadow Order was a woman — an old woman. Someone who was around the same age as Old Mrs. Pierson, but also a very dangerous person. But the real giveaway was that Zoren said this old grandma had three moles in her right ear.
That was why Penny approached the granny to take a closer look, and there she caught the three moles inside the shell of the old woman’s ear.
"But Penny." After a long silence, Slater finally broke the silence. "Are you sure First Brother will claim the code?"
Her brows rose as she cast him a look. "Of course. I heard First Brother had already volunteered before all of this."
"But doesn’t that mean—"
"First Brother’s going to be fine," Penny bumped her shoulder against his. "You know him, and living in secret might just be a dream come true for him."
’But then, he would have to leave us, right?’
Seeing the change in Slater’s expression, Penny smacked her lips.
"Slater," she called, stopping in her tracks to face him. "I’m betting not because I am being selfish, but because... I know First Brother can find a way to uncage himself from the Order and the Zorken Family — assuming we win tonight. Besides, you know First Brother. This might stop his obsession of his own murder."
"So, we just have to make sure we will!" she added, tapping his shoulder. "Let’s go. I think we’re already here."
