Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 485 - 487: Isn’t the bad habit something he got used to?
Sophie Sullivan leaned forward, pulling away a bit, and turned her head, dissatisfied. "What are you laughing at?"
Isn’t it true? And weren’t her bad habits his fault for indulging them?
Sophie thought to herself that if he dared to deny it, she would push him off the camel’s back. She’d make the impossibly conceited Young Master Shannon plunge headfirst into the sand. She meant it!
"You certainly seem confident in yourself."
Thomas Shannon produced a sunscreen lotion from somewhere, handed it to her, and instructed, "The UV rays are strong. Rub some more on your face."
George Stanford had explained that her face had just shed its scabs; the newly healed skin was still very delicate and couldn’t withstand the sun’s harmful rays. Sun protection was an essential task. Charlie River had mentioned that sunscreen lotion had a limited effective duration and needed to be reapplied continuously to ensure its protective effect. Therefore, Thomas Shannon constantly reminded Sophie to apply sunscreen lotion to her face.
Sophie was already sweltering, her face covered in sweat. Wiping the sunscreen lotion on made it feel even stickier.
Holding the sunscreen lotion, she asked in frustration, "Do I really have to put this on?"
"Do you want to keep your face or not?" Thomas Shannon’s expression suddenly turned cold.
The earlier gentleness vanished in an instant, disappearing from his irresistibly handsome face.
Sophie huffed and muttered, "You change your mood faster than flipping a book. Fine, I’ll put it on, okay?"
"Hurry up and stop muttering and dawdling," Thomas Shannon added. "Or do you want me to apply it for you?"
"No need, I’ll do it myself."
Sophie slowly applied the sunscreen lotion to her face. The sticky sensation was genuinely driving her mad, but for the sake of her face, she had to endure it.
Once done, she handed the sunscreen lotion back to Thomas Shannon.
"You hold it."
"No, you remind me later." Sophie forcefully shoved it into his hand, her expression self-righteous and her tone tinged with a hint of playful willfulness.
A smile touched the corner of Thomas Shannon’s mouth, his laughter low and deep. "Didn’t you say you disliked it?"
"I don’t like it, but I dislike the thought of my face staying this ugly even more."
Sophie touched her face. "Old Mr. Standford put so much effort into saving this face of mine. I wouldn’t dare ruin it."
Riding the camels spared them physical exertion, but it was hardly comfortable. The space was cramped, and the saddle, though soft at first, revealed its discomfort after a while.
After an unknown amount of time, Sophie felt a burning pain where her inner thighs were chafed from riding.
The sun still blazed fiercely, offering no clue to the passage of time.
She glanced at Charlie River and the other bodyguards; their expressions were all impassive, showing no sign of impatience or complaint.
"What’s wrong?" Noticing her turning her head and looking around, Thomas Shannon put an arm around her waist, pulling her body into his embrace.
Sophie sighed. "Thomas Shannon, how much longer do we have to ride?"
"It will take about ten days to cross this desert. When the sun sets, we’ll find a resting place."
"What?!" Sophie was shocked. Unable to believe it, she turned her head, lowered her sunglasses, and stared straight at him.
Thomas Shannon raised his hand and pushed her sunglasses back onto the bridge of her nose. "You heard correctly. About ten days, and that’s assuming favorable natural conditions." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"And what if the natural conditions aren’t favorable?" Sophie asked blankly.
The corner of Thomas Shannon’s mouth lifted slightly. "Then it will take even more time."
