Chapter 736: Chapter 728: I Want You, I Want You, Just Want You (Fourteen)

Seeing her nervous, Korea lifted his chin in pride, "Miss Niannian’s mother must be overjoyed to know that Miss Niannian is marrying such a successful man as my uncle."

This comment was clearly sarcastic; no parent would wish for their daughter to marry a man old enough to be her father.

Not being infuriated enough to faint was already a sign of a strong heart; how could one possibly be happy about it?

And Anning ignored Korea’s mockery; she still looked anxiously at Charles, "Mr. Charles, are you saying you sent someone to pick up my mother?"

For some reason, when Charles said that, her first reaction was to worry about whom he’d picked up.

"Yes, since your father has passed, she’s all alone. It’s the perfect time to have her stay here for a while, what’s wrong with that?" Charles spread his arms, feeling quite thoughtful and considerate.

Knowing that Charles had picked up her mother from City C, Ji Anning breathed a sigh of relief.

But she was still somewhat annoyed, "Why did you disturb my mother?"

Charles raised an eyebrow and countered, "Shouldn’t a mother attend her daughter’s wedding?"

His question left her speechless. Anning clenched her fists, but in the end, she let it go. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Come on, she felt that Charles was right; her mother was alone now, so it was indeed good for her to get out. She had refused last time Anning offered to bring her out; if Charles managed to bring her over, it would indeed free her from a concern.

Just as Ji Anning had calmed herself down, she heard Korea from across the table ask, "Won’t Fenfen come too? She could be a flower girl."

Anning felt disgusted; she looked over and was blunt, letting out her frustration, "Miss Korea, stop having such thoughts. Haven’t I told you already? My uncle already has a fiancée. Are you still fixated, or do you want to be the other woman?"

"Miss Niannian, how could you think of me like that?" Korea frowned, feigning innocence. She said, "Not to mention I have no intentions towards Mr. Ji, but even if I had, he is still unmarried. I wouldn’t be the other woman but simply competing fairly with that woman."

Anning let out a cold laugh, "I’m sorry, but I disagree."

Then she stood up, looked at Charles and said, "Mr. Charles, I have finished eating. Please enjoy your meal."

With that, she got up and walked toward the entrance of the dining room. Charles watched her furiously retreating figure; a hint of amused smile showed in his eyes. Just as her steps were about to take her out of the dining room, he spoke leisurely, "The wedding dress is ready. The designer will come today to measure you, and it will only need some minor size adjustments."

"I understand."

Anning paused her steps briefly, responded to Charles, and then continued forward.

She did not know how the person Charles sent had spoken to her mother or if her mother even knew that the man she was marrying was nearly old enough to be her father.

Ji Anning felt uneasy.

The white wedding dress, with its conservative style, was graceful and elegant; its fitted shape perfectly outlined her figure, making her seem much taller.

This was already the modified size, and since the wedding was tomorrow, she had to try on the dress one more time today.

She had no interest in whether the wedding dress looked good or not. She was like a puppet, letting the designer adjust her dress, her mind full of thoughts about her mother, because Charles had said he had brought her mother over.

But Charles hadn’t brought her to the Charles residence; two days had passed, and she hadn’t seen her mother at all. When asked, Charles said she was at the hotel.
