Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 720 - 712: Eat Once in a Lifetime (Part 3)
Ji Anning nodded, puzzled about how this man named Buck knew her, but Buck continued, "I’ve seen magazine covers you’ve shot, and I’ve heard Beige mention you. I saw you standing at the entrance just now, and I thought I had mistaken you for someone else."
So that was it. Ji Chicheng’s employees, except for Beige, were strangers to her; she wondered how this man knew her.
She smiled slightly and nodded, "Hello."
"Fenfen." Buck then looked down at Fenfen.
Fenfen raised her head and politely called out, "Uncle Buck."
Since Fenfen recognized him too, he probably wasn’t a fraud. Ji Anning relaxed her guard towards this man who had approached her so actively.
Beautiful City—her gaze inevitably drifted again towards the shop of Beautiful City. Buck looked at her puzzled, "Miss Anning, why are you here shopping alone with Fenfen? Where’s the boss?"
"I brought Fenfen here to play," Ji Anning diverted her gaze and lightly answered Buck’s question.
Buck nodded, his gaze falling on the numerous shopping bags in Ji Anning’s hands, "Why are you carrying so many things?"
"Just bought them." Ji Anning replied indifferently. With people coming and going on the street, she didn’t want to stand there and was about to say goodbye to Buck.
Buck’s voice suddenly interrupted her, "It must be inconvenient to carry so many things and look after Fenfen. Why not leave them in the shop here, and you can pick them up when you leave, or wait for the boss to come by the shop and take them?"
"No..."
Ji Anning instinctively refused, but Buck cut her off again, "If you’re not carrying so many things, you can take better care of Fenfen."
"No need."
Ji Anning firmly rejected the offer, and then nodded slightly to Buck, thanking him. She then grabbed Fenfen by the hand, turned around, and quickly walked away.
Towards the other end of the street.
She walked very fast, and Fenfen could barely keep up.
"Mommy." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Hearing her daughter’s plaintive protest, Ji Anning realized and quickly stopped in her tracks, looking down at Fenfen.
Fenfen looked up, neck tilted, perplexed by Ji Anning’s reddened eyes. Ji Anning bent down, set aside the bags she was carrying, and tightly hugged Fenfen, "I’m sorry."
She owed her too much, from childhood until now.
"Mommy," Fenfen, unaware of what was happening, stared with wide, innocent eyes shimmering.
Ji Anning sniffled, released her hold, and smiled tearfully, "What did Mommy just ask you to call me?"
"Sister." Fenfen sweetly exclaimed, and repeated, "Beautiful sister."
"Such a good girl." Ji Anning stroked Fenfen’s head, then reached out to pick up the bags she had placed on the ground but touched a hand instead.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she suddenly looked up.
The man slightly leaned forward, his head bowed, his profound melancholic eyes gazing at her.
Ji Anning straightened up, grabbed the man’s waist, buried her face in his chest, and with one hand clenched in a fist, she punched his back hard, "We had an agreement, didn’t you remember? Didn’t you remember?"
She had been suppressing too much pain.
The man lifted his hand, gently stroking the back of Ji Anning’s head, his voice low and pained, "I thought... that it would make things easier for you."
Finally unable to hold back, Ji Anning cried in Ji Chicheng’s arms on the bustling streets of L city.
Ji Chicheng held her head, looked down, and saw Fenfen standing beside them, looking up, confused.
