Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 718 - 710 Only Eat Once in a Lifetime (1)
She stared blankly as he walked briskly toward her.
When he reached her, she looked up, her eyes twinkling as they met his.
"I’ll take you guys."
Ji Chicheng said softly, bending over to get into the car, reaching past Ji Anning to pick up Fenfen, who was sitting inside.
A whiff of fragrance lingered in front of Ji Anning’s nose. By the time she came back to her senses, Ji Chicheng had already walked a little distance with Fenfen in his arms.
He supported Fenfen effortlessly with just one hand, her small frame appearing exceptionally delicate against his.
Yet, every time she held the little girl, she could hardly last ten minutes before feeling utterly exhausted.
Fenfen still needed her father, so it was right for Fenfen to follow him.
The family of three sat in the back seat, with Fenfen in between Ji Chicheng and Ji Anning. Perhaps because it had been a long time since she had been with both mom and dad, the little girl was somewhat excited.
Usually, she would fall asleep as soon as she got into the car. Today, her little mouth hadn’t stopped moving since they got on; one moment she climbed on Ji Chicheng, the next on Ji Anning.
"Mommy, quiet."
The little girl pried open Ji Anning’s bag again. It was stuffed full, and she reached her small hand in, rummaging through to find Ji Anning’s phone, wanting to play games.
"You can’t play with the phone in the car; it will ruin your eyes," said one.
Speaking of eyes, both Ji Chicheng and Ji Anning tightened up instinctively, turning their heads to look at each other simultaneously.
Ji Anning tightly pursed her lips upward, grasping Fenfen’s soft little hand. The mix of sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy feelings were evident in the sparkle of her eyes.
Unable to meet her bright eyes, he felt so stifled he could hardly breathe. Ji Chicheng turned his head to look out the window, resting one arm on it and covering his face with his palm, wiping it.
"Look outside; it’s lively," he said.
Ji Anning’s gaze also shifted to Fenfen, who was still fussing about wanting to play with the phone. She picked her up and sat her on her lap, pointing out the window. They just happened to pass a shopping mall hosting an event, bustling with people.
Two huge cartoon-patterned hot air balloons floated in the air by the entrance, successfully capturing Fenfen’s attention.
The little girl finally quieted down.
Throughout the trip, they did not exchange a single word. The city’s most upscale and luxurious shopping street was pedestrian-only; cars were not allowed.
The car stopped at the intersection. Ji Anning got out first, then bent over to pick up Fenfen, but Ji Chicheng beat her to it, lifting Fenfen from the other side of the car.
Ji Anning walked over, smiling at Ji Chicheng, "I’ll take her to the hotel tonight after we’ve had dinner outside."
She had repeated this sentence three times already.
It was also the only thing she said since they met, as besides that, they genuinely had nothing else to discuss.
Ji Chicheng said, "I’ll come pick her up."
With an undeniable tone, Ji Anning nodded slightly, "Then, we’ll be in touch."
As she spoke, she reached out, took Fenfen from Ji Chicheng’s arms, then took Fenfen’s small hand and waved it at Ji Chicheng, "Say goodbye to daddy."
"Bye daddy."
There was a dessert shop at the corner, and the little girl was already impatient. At this point, she would say anything she was told.
Ji Anning gave Ji Chicheng another smile, then lowered her head, turned around, and gradually disappeared into the crowd.
When Ji Mingyue leaves Charles’s house later, Ji Chicheng would probably take them all back. When would she see Fenfen again?
