Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 651 - 643: Framed (Part 1)
What was his purpose?
Aside from forcing Ji Jingfeng to be with Anning, he couldn’t think of any other reason, as Anning could totally ignore him.
Two years ago, what exactly did the old man do to drive Anning away? What was Anning really afraid of or considering?
All things, all secrets, usually if he wanted to know, they weren’t secrets at all.
Yet he couldn’t find a trace of a clue as to why Anning left two years ago.
Was it really that the old man’s work was flawless, or was there something he hadn’t considered?
Thinking gave him a bit of a headache, and he closed his eyes, intending to take a short nap, but he slept all the way home, where the driver woke him up.
He looked at the little girl he was holding in his arms, who was still sleeping soundly, with her chubby little face and slightly pouting small mouth. In his sleepy eyes, there was nothing but warmth.
Not wanting to disturb the little one, he instructed the driver to crack the sunroof open slightly, planning to let her sleep until she woke up naturally.
He maintained his position.
A bit bored, he started feeling for his phone that was lying next to him, ready to flip through the news, and when he lit up the screen, he saw a text message from Ji Anning.
"Uncle, when will you be back? I’m at the elevator entrance, but I don’t have your family’s access card. I can’t go up in the elevator, I’ll wait for you at the entrance."
After reading the message, he glanced at the time it was sent, an hour ago.
This silly girl!
Ji Chicheng frowned, quickly pushed the car door open, and carried Fenfen out of the car.
At that moment, his mind was only on whether Ji Anning was still foolishly waiting at the elevator entrance; he completely forgot that Fenfen would be woken by him.
In fact, Fenfen was already awake.
Lying on his shoulder, she murmured softly, "Daddy, kiss..."
The little girl had been with him for a few days and was now so clingy. She wanted kisses before eating, before sleeping, and upon waking up, too.
When the elevator reached the first floor and the door opened, Ji Chicheng stepped out, searched every nook and cranny but didn’t see Ji Anning. He frowned, took out his phone, and called Ji Anning’s number.
It only rang once before Ji Anning answered.
"Uncle, you finally responded to me."
Her voice was breathless, as if she was running or doing some strenuous exercise. Ji Chicheng’s eyebrows lifted. "Are you climbing the stairs?"
It was a question, but his tone was certain.
"Yes, I’ve already climbed to the thirtieth floor. Come and meet me on the thirtieth floor, I really... I really can’t climb anymore."
Ji Anning was panting heavily, and soon there was no sound at all.
"Ji Anning, why don’t you just dumb yourself to death?" Ji Chicheng gritted his teeth and cursed, hurriedly entered the elevator, and pressed the button for the thirtieth floor.
The high-speed elevator reached the thirtieth floor in just a minute or two. It had taken Ji Anning an hour, stopping and climbing.
Ji Chicheng pushed open the door to the staircase and immediately spotted Ji Anning, sitting on the steps, leaning against the wall, looking utterly exhausted.
Ji Anning also heard the door opening, turned her head, "Uncle, you’re here."
Too tired to be surprised, she looked up at him, gasping for air, her forehead drenched in sweat.
Ji Chicheng frowned at her state, glanced at the stairs leading to the thirty-first floor, and after a moment, said to Ji Anning, "Wait here."
After giving instructions, he carried Fenfen away.
"Hey, uncle..."
Ji Anning called out quickly, Ji Chicheng moved faster, and seeing the staircase door close again, Ji Anning pouted in dissatisfaction.
