Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 303 - 297: Knocking at the Door at Midnight (Twenty-One)
"Thank you... Thank you, Uncle."
She nodded at Chicheng, stuttering her thanks, her nervous back beginning to sweat coldly.
What was he going to do? What on earth did he want to do?
The uncle who wouldn’t even help up a fallen oil bottle was suddenly serving her food, an event rarer than Ji Zhengdao doing it himself, unprecedented and likely never to be repeated.
She wondered what grandfather was thinking, whether he had started to suspect?
Ji Anning was so tense she was nearly at breaking point, almost insane.
She desperately wanted to slam her hand down, stand up boldly, and declare to him, "I slept with your son, we are together now."
But she didn’t have the courage, nor could she bear the potential consequences.
Ji Anning, with her head bowed in unease, speculated the old man’s thoughts until he finally spoke, "Chicheng, in the future, you should pay more attention to the younger ones, don’t make them all afraid of you." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Upon hearing this, Ji Anning frowned in confusion, sensing from his tone not suspicion, but relief?
Relief that his spoiled youngest son finally knew how to care for the younger generation?
Was he not playing psychological games with them?
Ji Anning desperately wanted to look up and see Ji Zhengdao’s expression, to see if it matched the relief in his voice.
But she dared not.
"I will," Ji Chicheng nodded, responding indifferently.
Then, the hand holding the chopsticks reached out again for a plate of stir-fried meat with bamboo shoots and elegantly picked up a piece of bamboo shoot.
Ji Anning covertly watched the bamboo shoot Ji Chicheng had picked up, her heart pounding.
As Ji Chicheng withdrew his hand, she hurriedly picked up her bowl, holding it against her mouth, her face almost buried in it, leaving no space for him to drop anything in.
That way, he surely couldn’t place it in her bowl.
The corners of Ji Chicheng’s lips slightly curved upward, as he stuffed the bamboo shoot into his own mouth, slowly... chewing finely.
The faint smile expanded slowly across his handsome face.
Then, the atmosphere quieted down again, and Ji Anning felt she was in hell, tormented beyond measure.
Several times she thought of excuses to leave first, but according to the Ji Family rules, as long as the old man didn’t leave, no one was permitted to leave the table.
The mother and daughters opposite were an exception today, but she had no such excuse.
"I’m full, you two eat slowly."
Finally, the old man finished his meal.
After nodding to Ji Chicheng and Ji Anning, he stood up and left the dining room.
Only after watching him leave the dining room, seeing his authoritative figure truly gone, did Ji Anning breathe a sigh of relief, wiping her forehead with the back of her hand, covered in sweat.
"The shrimp today tasted really good."
While she was catching her breath, Ji Chicheng picked up another shrimp for himself, praising the flavor of the shrimp leisurely.
Ji Anning frowned, grinding her teeth and turning her head to glare at him, "Uncle, what are you doing?"
Her voice was still subdued, as quiet as she could make it.
"Open your mouth."
Ji Anning was furiously enraged, feeling as though she wanted to flip the table in a fit of rage, but he calmly peeled the shrimp in his bowl and brought it to her lips.
Ji Anning recoiled, lips pressed tightly shut, refusing to eat.
"Open your mouth," Ji Chicheng frowned, displeased.
His voice was unreservedly authoritative.
Ji Anning, intimidated, finally opened her mouth to take in the shrimp, then immediately stood up, "I’m full, going upstairs now."
Before she knew it, as Ji Chicheng blinked, she had already walked far away.
