Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 288 - 282: Knocking at Midnight (Part 6)
Doctor Zhang’s car was parked at the front gate as he walked and fished out his car keys. Ji Anning stood by, pursing her lips in silence for a while before finally speaking carefully, "Doctor Zhang... if there really is something, I actually have something I’d like to ask you about."
As she spoke, she turned her head to look at Doctor Zhang.
Doctor Zhang smiled warmly, "Miss Anning, please feel free to speak."
"My mom... how is she doing on the island?" Ji Anning asked, tilting her face up and looking at Doctor Zhang with sparkling eyes.
"The second lady?" Doctor Zhang pursed his lips hesitantly, seemed to consider his words, then continued, "The air on the island is very good. It’s just that she’s allergic to pollen and has been coughing nonstop, but she has been taking medication."
Ji Anning’s heart tightened, "Is it severe?"
Yang Yufang was allergic to many types of pollen, and Ji Anning knew how painful the symptoms were.
With Garden Island’s great climate and flowers blooming all year, she should have thought of it earlier.
"It’s nothing serious." Doctor Zhang shook his head, comforting Ji Anning, "You don’t need to worry, she is being treated."
"I understand now, thank you, Doctor Zhang," Ji Anning nodded, expressing her thanks.
Doctor Zhang gave her a slight nod and then walked away first.
However, Ji Anning couldn’t set her mind at ease. She turned back and looked at the grand mansion behind her, her eyes on Yang Yufang’s room, filled with melancholy.
What should she do? How could she bring her mother back from that island?
Ji Anning walked along with her head down, her brows furrowed in worry.
She walked past his car without even glancing at it, let alone at him.
Ji Chicheng watched Ji Anning, who had already reached the front of his car, his eyebrows knitted tightly, and his temper flaring up again as he pressed heavily on the car horn with his hand on the steering wheel.
A loud ’beep’ scared Ji Anning, making her jump and turn pale in an instant.
She patted her chest and turned around, only then noticing the familiar car. She was surprised for a moment and then looked at the man inside the car. She opened her mouth in astonishment and asked, "Uncle, why are you still here?" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
To his surprise, she asked why he was here. Ji Chicheng coldly raised an eyebrow at himself.
Fueled by rage, he pushed open the car door, got out, and strode toward Ji Anning.
Seeing his aggressive approach, Ji Anning instinctively stepped back, "Uncle, what are you doing?"
She couldn’t back up anymore; there was a curb behind her.
She leaned against a thick sycamore tree, her back pressed against the trunk, her feet nervously lifting as she held her breath, facing the man approaching.
A breeze passed through, scattering the dry yellow leaves between them, causing Ji Chicheng to pause his steps momentarily.
Seizing the opportunity, Ji Anning tried to slip away to the side, but Ji Chicheng noticed her intentions in a glance. He reached out with his long arm over Ji Anning’s head, braced against the tree trunk, and leaned slightly forward, his breath closing in on her.
Ji Anning ducked her head to dodge, and Ji Chicheng’s cold voice came from above, "I’m quite skilled at cornering someone against a wall already, but cornering against a tree is something I haven’t tried."
Cornering against a tree!
Ji Anning abruptly raised her head, looking at Ji Chicheng with a face filled with terror, her throat dry. She swallowed, feeling her throat move.
Seeing this, Ji Chicheng chuckled, "You’re yearning for it too, are you not?"
"I yearn for your sister!" Ji Anning, not knowing where she found the courage, cursed at Ji Chicheng, and pushed him forcefully with both hands.
But her goal was not achieved as Ji Chicheng effortlessly caught her with his long arms, pulling her into his embrace, "I don’t have a sister, but a brother... I certainly have one."
