Chapter 554: Chapter 341: Utterly Shameless Words

After taking a shower, Nora Scott changed into a nightgown and shuffled to the kitchen in her slippers, feeling weary.

"Not ready yet?"

Rubbing her stomach, Nora leaned against the doorway, frowning slightly.

A perfectly good late-night snack had been turned into breakfast by him.

Pedro Langley was chopping vegetables. He glanced up at Nora and said, "Almost."

Tilting her head, Nora watched him quietly for a moment, then walked further in, moved behind Pedro, and wrapped her arms around his waist.

Pedro’s movements paused.

Leaning on his shoulder, Nora yawned and wiped her face with his shirt. Her hair was still damp, with droplets of water falling onto his clothes.

A patch got wet.

Pedro sighed softly, "I’ve become a rag, not clean anymore."

Nora retorted, "Who uses a rag to wipe their face?"

Pedro chuckled.

Moments later, he turned his head slightly, "Didn’t dry your hair?"

"Lazy. You can do it for me later."

"Okay."

Pedro agreed without a moment’s hesitation.

After wiping her face, Nora rested her chin on his shoulder, her eyes slightly closed, forcing herself to stay alert, "Let me have a bite."

"Open your mouth."

Turning his head slightly, Pedro glanced at Nora, whose eyes were struggling to stay open, curved his lips, and picked up a slice of pickled cucumber, bringing it to her mouth.

Nora opened her mouth.

Pedro delivered it into her mouth.

Chewing a couple of times, Nora puckered from the sourness, her eyes suddenly wide open, and pinched his waist.

"Carrots, cabbage, pickled beans, pickled cucumbers..." Her gaze crossed over his shoulder and landed on the cutting board, Nora complained unhappily, "All vegetables, you’re so stingy."

Pedro chuckled, his voice teasing, "Didn’t we just have meat?"

Nora was speechless: "..." This man is incorrigible, always speaking such brazen words.

With no choice, she pinched him again.

The man had broad shoulders and a narrow waist, with firm and strong abdominal muscles, not visibly apparent, but feeling secure to the touch.

She gave him a couple more pats.

After being fed a couple more bites of carrot, Nora felt a bit more awake and asked, "What time did you get home tonight?"

"Seven or eight," Pedro answered truthfully, "It was raining and there was traffic."

"Why didn’t you answer your phone?" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Focused on writing a self-critique, had it on silent." Remembering the messages and calls, Pedro asked in a low voice, "Worried something happened to me?"

"Yes."

Nora admitted straightforwardly.

Pedro smiled, "Then shouldn’t you have been anxious, how could you still sleep so soundly?"

"Damn," Nora swore softly, nudging his knee with hers, "I saw you at your place."

"Really?"

Pedro was skeptical.

With the thunder and rain, Nora knew the passcode and hadn’t caused any significant disturbance, he really hadn’t heard anything.

Nora glared at him, "Can’t your vigilance be a bit higher?"

"Hmm? I came in without...," Pedro started to argue, but then paused, finding it unnecessary, and suddenly sighed, "We really are meant for each other."

"..."

If he argued, Nora could counter, but this sigh left Nora speechless.

A moment later, Pedro spoke slowly, "For the sake of our safety..."

"What?"

Nora asked, puzzled.

Pedro immediately said, "Let’s live together."

"Don’t push your luck!" Nora raised an eyebrow, realizing his words, she released her embrace around his waist, feeling a bit flushed, and irritably commanded, "Hurry up and make the noodles!"

She turned around and walked away.

Pedro watched her and chuckled silently.

You can’t rush things before they are cooked.

One day, they would live together.

*

Outside, it was pitch black, with occasional thunder and lightning, and the rain continued to pour.

The steaming hot noodles were served on the table, along with a pile of side dishes, and there were also halved soft-boiled eggs and some pieces of meat.

Perhaps she was too hungry, but after a few bites, Nora only felt that Pedro’s cooking skills had improved tremendously, and a phrase like "delicious" wasn’t an exaggeration.

Having tasted half a soft-boiled egg, Nora turned to look at Pedro, finding he was not in the kitchen but was coming out of the bedroom with a hair dryer.

Nora asked, "What about yours?"

"I’ll make it later," Pedro came over, plugged the hair dryer into the socket on the dining table, and then stood up, "I’ll dry your hair first."

"Oh."

Nora picked up a mouthful of noodles and blew on them to cool.

Pedro eyed her semi-dry hair, "Your hair has grown."

"Haven’t gone for a cut," Nora muttered, then suddenly turned around, asking, "Do I look better with short hair or long hair?"

"Long hair is like a Heavenly Immortal, short hair like an alluring spirit." Taking a strand of her hair in his fingers, Pedro thought for a moment and replied, "Both are beautiful."

"..."

Faced with Pedro’s flattery, Nora had nothing to say.

After a brief silence, she said, "The teacher from ’Reversing Life’ has long hair, so I’m planning to keep it for now."
