Overlord Tamer: All My Pet Monsters Have God Potential-Chapter 51: Expedition Complete
Chapter 51: Expedition Complete
John had successfully fed enough soul cores and trained the Draconite Bloodlight Worm to Prime-stage in Bronze-rank during the past five hours.
It went from looking like a cute little fella to a giant worm able to stretch 20 meters long! Rexion was flexible as hell, but also tough because of his carapace that could shift between flexible rubbery and metal-tough both.
John knew it was related to Rexion’s unique attribute, which he could see was very powerful compared to normal attributes.
’You are one hell of a surprise, little guy.’
[Name]: Draconite Bloodlight Worm — Rexion
[Attributes]: Bloodscript
[Rank]: Bronze
[Growth Stage]: Prime
— Gene Potential: 78/100
— Strength: 42
— Speed: 42
— Defense: 42
— Soul Core: 100/100
[Skills]:
— Bloodrend Trap
— Hexalone Shield + Bloodshard Burst
— Sanguin Drill
— Devouring Maw + Goredrinker Fangs
— Acid-lux Beam
[Quirks]:
— Bloodscript Mastery level 1
[Talents]:
— Sanguinite Gluttony
Rexion’s natural potential was also high, as he easily crossed 40 stats with normal training while it would need extreme training for other Monsters.
’I really struck it rich getting this guy,’ John grinned.
"Peipei!" Rexion suddenly cried out and released a glimmering crimson web from its mouth before shooting away like a bullet.
While in midair, Rexion used a skill, releasing a crimson whirling semi-liquid orb that expanded into a wide trap net, entrapping a three-meter tall and four-meter long muscular ox with four flaming horns and earthen skin.
Despite the Ox being a Silver-rank and having almost 30% higher stats than Rexion, it couldn’t break free from the trap!
At least, not without using a skill. The Ox burst into flames that spread from its horns and broke free.
But in the meanwhile, John had arrived on a tree branch nearby and used Soul Synergy, using Rexion’s skill—Sanguin Drill, a pure offensive skill with high penetration power.
The dreadfully spinning metallic blood drill shot from John’s hands. He had 312/500 Soul Crystal, and he consumed 150 Soul Energy for this skill.
With such potent soul energy, Sanguin Drill tore through the Prime-stage Silver-rank Blaze-Horned Geo Ox, tearing it over.
Rexion began eating the body, and due to its innate talent—Sanguinite Gluttony, which awakened shortly after Rexion reached the Adult-stage, Rexion could get a few permanent stats by eating stronger Monsters, and a temporary 20% stat boost of the eaten Monster’s stats.
Meanwhile, John extracted its Soul Crystal and absorbed it.
’An increase of 24? Nice.’
336/500
This was the highest increase from a Soul Crystal so far—it meant he was getting better at extraction quality and absorption.
’It won’t be long before I reach the peak if I keep this up,’ John thought with a grin. "Alright, let’s continue, buddy."
If other Silver-rank Tamers knew about this, they’d puke blood. Average Silver-rank Tamers couldn’t even reach an increment of 10 per one Soul Crystal absorbed, while John was far ahead because of his high control and proficiency in soul energy.
With the whole gang working together, John was getting a bunch of resources every hour while also training Rexion.
And then, it was time. Four hours later, the clock hit 8:30 p.m. Everyone’s wristbands beeped as they heard Lesly’s voice.
"Alright, kids. You will automatically teleport back to the ship’s deck after 5 minutes, so wrap up your adventure and make sure you’ve stored everything in your storage equipment."
John blinked, contacting Pymon and Alfred with their soul links. This was another one of Tamer’s benefits as they could mentally connect to their pets within a certain range, depending on soul sensitivity.
For John, that range was a 4-kilometer radius with him as the center, and everyone was within the range.
As he called them and continued walking, Rexion suddenly cried out.
"Pei!"
"What? No, don’t attack!" John quickly stopped Rexion.
"Pei?" Rexion turned to John.
"Yeah, don’t attack him. He’s not a prey."
John looked at the blue-haired sixteen-year-old kid sixty meters away with his Silver-rank Crystal Scaled Rhino.
Noticing John, the blue-haired kid looked at him and grinned before riding on his Rhino and summoning two more Pet Monsters—a Silver-rank Woodfront Gunner Parrot of Prime-stage and a Bronze-rank Blazeborn Stalker of Prime-stage.
"Let’s fight!" the kid shouted and rushed toward John.
"Pei, Pei!" Rexion could feel the fighting intent and told John he wanted to fight.
"Well, since he’s asking for a beating, we’ll give him one."
– Stats:
— Strength: 31
— Defense: 30
— Speed: 30
— Soul Crystal: 383/500
– Pet Monster Space: [3/3]
Looking at the blue-haired kid’s status, John blinked. ’Hmm, I have to be tricky.’
’Pymon, use Abyss Tornado,’ John commanded as he and Rexion dashed forward.
The blue-haired kid was surprised to see John coming at him, but he continued, and when there was just twenty meters distance between them, a raging dark blue tornado with black winds and strong currents of water surrounded the blue-haired kid.
Pymon, who had arrived in the vicinity in the sky, had used the skill upon John’s command.
At the same time, John arrived in range and also consumed 100 soul energy to use Alfred’s skill—Vorpal Howl!
The blue-haired kid was shocked as he and his Pets instantly lost 20% of their stats.
’Rexion, shoot Bloodscript web inside the tornado. Make sure the web gets more sticky after getting wet. And Pymon, shrink the tornado.’
Vorpal Howl also had a chance to stun, and it worked on all of them, but even without the stun, the battle was over.
Rexion’s stats were temporarily boosted by 20% of the total stats that Ox Monster had, and the web it shot inside spread through the tornado while it shrank.
The blue-haired kid and all three of his Monsters were entrapped in thick, highly sticky blood webs, which dealt corrosive damage and burning pain to all three.
The kid cried out while tearing up, "Stop! I give up!"
John chuckled and told the Pets to disperse their skills.
"Now, get lost."
"You..." The blue-haired kid was about to smile and speak praise, but his words were stuck in his throat as his face twisted. "Fuck you! I’ll beat you next time, just wait."
His Rhino was still safe and able, so he rode on it while putting the other two Pets inside and scurried away.
John wryly smiled. Well, his party was here, so he couldn’t afford to let the kid see his Monsters and then see them all disappear.
’John, we found a Silver-rank resource. Well, Crocky found it while swimming in the lake and it’s not too far. Let’s go and get it fast.’
’A Silver-rank one? Awesome. Let’s go.’
"You all, get inside."
John shot his soul strands, which could go as far as 50 meters. As the Monsters arrived in range, he struck each of them and sent them into the Monster Paradise—except for Alfred.
"Let’s go get it fast, buddy."
...
John had to be quick. With Alfred’s help, he procured the Silver-rank vine growing a fruit at the depth of the lake.
There were Monsters there, but John didn’t have time to fight. He just summoned Crocky underwater as Crocky and Alfred held them back while he quickly got the resource before putting both of them back in Monster Paradise and leaving the lake using Umbral Drift.
Shortly after that, John saw the scenery changing in front of his eyes as he arrived on the ship’s deck, alongside the other 50 Silver-rank Tamers.
"Alright, kids. I hope you all had a bountiful adventure. The island was too big for just fifty-one of you, and it had a lot of resources up to Silver rank, so I’d be disappointed if you couldn’t get at least 20 Bronze-rank and five Silver-rank resources," Lesly said and smiled before she gestured her hand at the deck’s left side while the airship flew up and began moving.
"Stand there and come forward when I call your name. It’s time to determine the rankings and the top three among you."
