Chapter 31: He is Arnold Johnson 2

Alexander Mitchell’s brain couldn’t stop running: how did Victoria get involved with someone like Arnold Johnson? How did they meet? What was going on?

Arnold Johnson… Arnold Johnson…

No… that’s not right…

“Arnold Johnson is married,” Alexander blurted out.

Brittany Campbell’s face remained stern, her cold smirk appearing, saying, “As if he doesn’t have multiple second wives.”

Others might not know that, but she was very clear that aside from his wife Chloe Johnson, Arnold Johnson had two other second wives living in the Johnson Family’s home. It was laughable that the “wives and concubines” reportedly got along harmoniously.

“No… still not right…” Alexander murmured to himself, “Victoria said he was her fiancé, which means the man in Victoria’s story is unmarried.”

Brittany Campbell snorted coldly and said, “What fiancé, it’s just a sham used to show off in front of you. How can you still believe her?”

“No… no… Victoria wouldn’t be that kind of person.” Alexander defended with force, his voice increasing a few decibels from before.

Sometimes, people behave like this, as if their louder voice means that what they’re saying is the truth.

But in reality, it’s often to cover up their inner uncertainty.

“It’s gone this far, do you really need me to emphasize what kind of person she is?”

As if thinking of something, Alexander’s face showed pain and guilt, blaming himself even more.

“If I had agreed to her back then, she wouldn’t have ended up like this. It’s all my fault… all my fault…”

“You…”

Brittany Campbell raised her finger, hesitated for a moment, and then swallowed her words. At this moment, everything she said would affect Alexander.

When his emotions had settled, Alexander spoke up again: “Even if he’s Arnold Johnson, it wouldn’t be easy to get Victoria’s mom released. Why then, as soon as Victoria begged him, her mom was released the next day? This isn’t something that can be solved just by money!”

Alexander wasn’t stupid. Analyzing the connections and relations in-between, he naturally knew some secrets, unless Arnold had the power to prove that Josephine Garcia hadn’t committed murder.

If so, how was he able to do it in such a short time?

His mind was suddenly in chaos, with many vague thoughts appearing but nothing sticking.

Brittany Campbell seemed lost in thought, as if pondering something deeply.

Following her gaze, one might find that what she was contemplating was intriguing.

“Mom, you still haven’t told me the answer.”

Alexander Mitchell’s question brought Brittany Campbell back to reality.

“Naturally Arnold Johnson has his own abilities, so there’s no need for you to inquire about it.” Brittany’s tone eased quite a bit from before, a lot calmer.

Alexander, however, wasn’t going to let it go. But before he could continue questioning her, she cut him off.

“Arnold Johnson legally got Victoria’s mom released; it wasn’t through power or money as you imagined.”

“What kind of legitimate means? Did he find evidence proving that Victoria’s mom is not the murderer?” Clearly, Alexander’s guess had been correct.

Brittany Campbell, however, answered a little lazily, “Yes.”

“What kind of evidence?” There was nothing more curious to Alexander than this.

Brittany Campbell gave him a stern look, “This is an internal matter of the Relevant Department. If you’re so interested, rely on your own ability instead of resorting to your family or your family’s connections to dig into it.”

The last sentence was obviously a warning to Alexander.
