Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Get In the Car

This special connection, Josiah Sutton doesn’t know where it originates from, and what’s more, he can’t simply classify it as a romantic relationship between a man and a woman. However, the feeling between these two can only be described as special.

"Is it really that important whether it’s special or not?"

Julian Ford dismissively threw this remark as he got in the car and left.

Josiah Sutton stood on the spot, watching as he drove away. A minute later, Zoe Sutton came out, having changed out of her wedding gown, and seeing Josiah alone, she frowned slightly. "Brother, didn’t you promise to keep him here?"

Josiah turned around, walked over, and gently patted his sister’s head, "He wants to leave, how can I stop him?"

Zoe Sutton pursed her lips in discontent, emotions surging in her eyes.

"Sister, trust me, leaving him is for the best."

Josiah spoke earnestly.

Zoe Sutton was silent for a while, not saying a word. Seeing this, Josiah pulled his sister’s arm, "There are still guests inside; don’t leave your husband standing there alone."

He pulled her toward the manor but unexpectedly, in the next second, Zoe shook his hand off and walked toward the gate in her high heels.

...

Scarlett Shaw left the manor, contacted Skyler Miller, who took the opportunity to chat inside with several financial bigwigs, intending to leave later.

Scarlett Shaw bid farewell and left first.

As she reached the street, an eye-catching sports car raced toward her, stopping with a skid right in front of her.

Jasper Spencer got out of the car and said decisively, "Let me give you a ride."

Scarlett Shaw: "Not necessary."

Scarlett’s face was marked with detachment, and as she coldly watched him, Jasper inexplicably felt a chill.

There was a sense of unfamiliarity.

Of course, he only had a passing acquaintance with Scarlett, not enough to truly understand her. Yet Jasper prided himself on being a good judge of character, and he truly didn’t expect Scarlett’s soft and gentle face to reveal such a prickly expression.

Jasper’s attitude was sincere, "What happened earlier was my fault, I’m sorry."

Scarlett glanced at him, bluntly saying, "You’re quick to err, quick to apologize, and after that, just continue your mistakes, huh."

Jasper: "..."

Honestly, there wasn’t anything wrong with what she said.

He really did have such rotten behavior.

When Scarlett spoke, she wasn’t as icy as before. Although her words were prickly, there was a hint of playful sarcasm, and the atmosphere unexpectedly wasn’t as tense.

In a way, it could be considered as giving Jasper a way out.

Jasper couldn’t help but look at Scarlett a few more times.

This girl seemed to possess a peculiar magic, making people want to get close to her, making it seem as if being with her should be a very happy and relaxing experience.

Julian Ford, that bastard, enjoyed being intimate with her and then had the nerve to claim he felt nothing for her.

Such shamelessness.

Jasper, being someone who spoke his mind, especially when it came to badmouthing Julian, wouldn’t miss the chance.

So, he said, "The things I said earlier weren’t quite right; I mainly wanted to use you to anger Julian, didn’t consider your feelings, truly sorry."

Scarlett perfunctorily nodded, "Alright, I get it, now that you’ve said your piece, make way, don’t block my path."

Jasper acted as if he hadn’t heard, "But I really thought, with you having a boyfriend, Julian kissing you in front of everyone meant he wanted to be the third party. Who knew that he was just a shameless guy looking to fool around."

Scarlett: "..."

To be fair, while Jasper’s words weren’t all that hurtful, they were highly offensive.

Scarlett was speechless yet secretly relieved that her feelings for Julian weren’t known by anyone, or else she’d be mocked terribly by this bunch of idiots.

"Jasper Spencer."

Scarlett looked at the man before her, and said word by word:

"Can you please sew up that filthy mouth of yours."

Jasper really considered it and said, "Alright, come with me for a ride, think of it as my apology."

Men, once they have their own thought process, they become impervious to reason.

Scarlett was too lazy to engage with him further and stepped forward to leave, when suddenly she heard an engine revving from afar, a white BMW 7 Series blocking her path, and Julian Ford stepped out from the driver’s seat.

"Get in the car."

His words were brief, and as he spoke, he opened the car door in a very gentlemanly manner, indicating for Scarlett to get in.

His demeanor was noble and elegant, yet his attitude allowed no refusal.

Even Jasper was secretly surprised.

Though simple-minded, the person he understood best in his life was Julian Ford, who half an hour ago was haughtily saying he didn’t care about her, and now was proactively approaching Scarlett, wasn’t this shamelessness?

The kind that pretends to be something they’re not.

Scarlett stood in place, looked up, and met Julian Ford’s gaze.

With a glance into his dark eyes, she lightly shifted her gaze away, turned around, and got into Jasper’s car.

Julian stood tall on the steps, calmly watching her sit in the sports car, emotions indiscernible.

Scarlett glanced at Jasper, "Weren’t you going to take me for a ride?"

"Julian."

Alongside Scarlett’s words, Zoe Sutton, not knowing when, had run over in high heels.

Zoe Sutton, panting, grabbed Julian’s sleeve, speaking with a mix of temper and pride, "My brother says you want to leave, can’t you stay the night for me? We met last time very briefly, I have a lot I want to talk to you about."

Zoe’s words carried pride, yet her gaze held a smile.

Her slender fingers grasping Julian’s suit sleeve, with eyes full of seductive allure, possessing a captivating charm.

Julian remained indifferent, lightly pulling his arm to naturally shake off Zoe’s hand.

Zoe’s smile froze.

Julian took a few steps closer to the sports car, his gaze fixed on Scarlett, calmly saying, "Scarlett, get out."

Scarlett turned her head, avoiding his gaze, and casually fastened her seatbelt.

Zoe felt very unsettled inside but didn’t dare to confront Julian, so she looked at Jasper, slightly curling her lips, saying, "Jasper, Miss Shaw wants to leave, why aren’t you taking her?"

Jasper’s face darkened immediately, and he slammed the door and got in the car almost instantly.

The sports car roared dramatically, leaving behind Julian’s chilly stare, stirring up dust as it zoomed away.

The car’s curves were smooth and perfect; speed and thrill ran alongside.

Anyone watching from the street couldn’t help but praise it as impressive.

Yet, inside the car, the atmosphere felt rather like facing a ghost.

Jasper’s driving seemed more like he was rushing to be reborn, as Scarlett tightly gripped the seatbelt, her hand veins bulging, her lips turning pale. When they paused at a red light, she quickly said, "Jasper Spencer, pull over, I want to get out."

Jasper: "I promised, I’m taking you for a ride."

"Is this what you call taking me for a ride? You’re trying to send me to my grave."

Scarlett’s words were sharp, but noticing Jasper’s expression, she froze.

Well, no wonder Zoe called him Jasper, his expression was so sullen that he’d turned plain ugly.
