Chapter 62: Chapter 62: In Person

Aaron Carson laughed awkwardly, "It’s okay."

Skyler Miller was already tipsy and feeling high from drinking, and now fully letting go, said to Aaron Carson, "Could it be that you’ve taken a liking to Scarlett Shaw?"

Aaron Carson had just put a bite of food into his mouth and almost choked himself.

"Cough, cough, Manager Miller, you can eat randomly, but you really can’t speak carelessly."

Skyler Miller: "You haven’t taken a liking? I don’t believe it."

Lily joined in the teasing, "Yeah, sending things and visiting in person, saying you don’t like her, even a dog wouldn’t believe it."

"..."

Aaron Carson whispered to Scarlett Shaw, "Say something."

Scarlett Shaw puzzled, "Say what?"

Aaron Carson: "Clarify things between us!"

"They’re saying you like me, not that I like you, what am I supposed to clarify?"

Scarlett Shaw’s corner of the mouth lifted, paused for a moment, and said with a smile in her round eyes:

"Besides, from a certain perspective, they’re not wrong."

Aaron Carson helplessly rubbed his forehead.

He has seen through the person in front of him, seeming well-behaved on the surface and easygoing while having numerous antics inside, holds grudges, and is cunning!

"Scarlett, where’s your bathroom?"

"Upstairs."

Scarlett Shaw noticed the three empty bottles on the floor beside Skyler Miller and said:

"I’ll accompany you upstairs."

"No, no need."

Skyler Miller waved her hand and got up to go to the upstairs bathroom alone. When she came out, she noticed a man’s shirt hanging in Scarlett Shaw’s open closet.

When the doorbell rang again, Skyler Miller had just come downstairs, passing the foyer.

Thinking it was convenient, she directly opened the door.

Julian Ford was standing at the door, wearing a black coat, tall and imposing with an aloof expression, exuding a pressuring aura.

Skyler Miller was momentarily stunned.

Immediately, she waved to the people inside, "Someone come support me, I drank too much and am hallucinating."

As the words fell, Julian Ford stepped inside.

The silence was deafening.

Four pairs of eyes were suddenly fixated on him.

Lily tugged at Scarlett Shaw’s clothes, "I, I think I drank too much too."

Scarlett Shaw, Aaron Carson: "..."

"President Ford, why are you here?"

Aaron Carson, after all, the most professional one, nearly stood up instantly upon seeing the boss, quickly moving to Julian Ford.

Julian Ford glanced at him, "And why are you here?"

The tone flat.

The expression cold.

Aaron Carson was sweating profusely.

"I, I just heard Scarlett was sick and came to check on her."

Julian Ford did not seem too interested in his words, withdrawing his gaze and settling it on Scarlett Shaw’s face, calm as water.

Although Scarlett Shaw didn’t really want to pay attention to Julian Ford, given the current situation with Skyler Miller and Lily present, it wouldn’t be good for things to become awkward, so she gently and politely asked, "President Ford, if you don’t mind, would you like to join us for hotpot?"

Julian Ford’s eyes flashed.

Beside him, Aaron Carson was slightly stunned.

How does it feel like President Ford’s aura suddenly relaxed a bit?

Scarlett Shaw also noticed the change in Julian Ford’s mood, skillfully rising and preparing to get clean dishes from the kitchen.

As she brushed past Julian Ford, her forearm was grasped by him.

Scarlett Shaw instinctively shrank back.

Julian Ford held tighter.

Aaron Carson held his breath, not daring to breathe.

Skyler Miller and Lily’s face of stunned gossip instantly synchronized.

Julian Ford looked down at Scarlett Shaw, speaking softly, "Sit back, I’ll get them myself."

Scarlett Shaw pressed her lips together, nodded, and turned to sit back at the table.

The four seated, their gaze unconsciously landed on Julian Ford who was currently taking off his coat and hanging it on the coat rack.

The man wore a light-colored wool sweater and strode into the kitchen, skillfully finding the dishes and chopsticks.

Skyler Miller whispered, "President Ford is acting as naturally as if it’s his own home."

Scarlett Shaw: "Maybe Assistant Carson mentioned my house to him."

Aaron Carson glared at her: What does this have to do with me?

Scarlett Shaw: Could I possibly tell the truth?

Aaron Carson: ......

Lily: "Is that the point? Should the point be why President Ford is at Scarlett’s home? Could it be..."

Skyler Miller: "Could it be what?"

Lily: "Could it be this is the latest company cultural promotion, the boss personally visits sick employees?"

Skyler Miller rubbed her chin, "It’s possible."

Aaron Carson: "Manager Miller."

Skyler Miller: "Hmm?"

Aaron Carson: "Your investment department clearly has talented people, thinking out of the box."

Skyler Miller: "Thank you for the compliment."

Aaron Carson: "..."

While they whispered among themselves, Julian Ford walked to the table.

The table was a small square one.

Originally four people, fittingly one on each side.

Now the boss was here, Scarlett Shaw wanted to move to make space and squeeze with Lily, but Julian Ford directly pulled out a chair, and when she wanted to move to the side, he quietly held her hand under the table, dry fingertips brushing her palm flirtatiously.

Scarlett Shaw took a deep breath, dared not move recklessly, and could only squeeze in with Julian Ford.

The small table crowded, the two nearly shoulder to shoulder, an intimate sight.

However, given Julian Ford was the big boss, the others understood not to speak out, and those who didn’t understand didn’t dare to guess, leading to a silence filled with buzz today.

Julian Ford looked disinterested in hotpot, not even picking up the chopsticks, he glanced at Scarlett Shaw, "Feeling better?"

Scarlett Shaw: "Much better, thank you for your concern, President Ford."

Their words were simple and polite.

Yet there was an indescribable aura spreading across the table.

Skyler Miller: "Scarlett, why did you suddenly catch a cold? Weren’t you fine a few days ago?"

Lily: "Yeah, but yesterday I saw you didn’t look well, there were bloodshot eyes and dark circles, you weren’t in a good state."

Scarlett Shaw fell silent for two seconds upon hearing this.

Under the table, Julian Ford’s fingers teased her palm, making Scarlett Shaw grit her teeth, her fingernail fiercely pinching him as she huffed, "Left out in the cold by some jerk, catching cold in the wind."

The one who left Scarlett hanging glanced at her, expression normal, his fingers sliding from her palm to the inside of her forearm.

This patch of skin was particularly delicate and smooth, Julian Ford leisurely rubbing it.

Scarlett Shaw clenched her fist.

Beside her, Aaron Carson also found Scarlett’s words astonishing.

After all, whether it’s the literal meaning or Scarlett’s tone, it was sarcastic and bold, the guts really big, with the boss visiting in person, yet unwilling to ease up.

Skyler Miller thought Scarlett was just ghosted by a normal date, immediately standing up for her:

"A man without gentlemanly manners, leaving a woman to wait in the cold wind in winter, you shouldn’t associate with him anymore, he even got you sick. Give me his phone number, I’ll definitely make him pay for the medical bills today!"

"Cough, cough——"

Aaron Carson was choked once again, bending over he coughed hard.
