Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Revenge Returned

As they stepped out of the elevator and stopped at the door, Julian Ford suddenly paused and looked at her.

Scarlett Shaw: "?"

Julian Ford: "Record your fingerprint."

Before Scarlett Shaw could react, Julian Ford had already pulled her hand and recorded her fingerprint into the home’s access system.

"Initially, my plan was for you to move in directly."

Julian Ford unlocked the door with Scarlett Shaw’s thumbprint, entered the house, turned on the lights, and said, looking at her in the bright light:

"But since you advocate ’step by step’, I won’t force you. You can come over whenever you want."

Scarlett Shaw was unexpected, surprised yet delighted that Julian Ford was so quick to accept her with the "my door is always open" mindset. "Then you have to explain clearly, if there are any places at home that I can’t touch or go to."

Julian Ford glanced at her and smiled, "If I’m not mistaken, it seems like you’re expressing dissatisfaction with me."

"Last time in your study, you told me to get out. I’ll hold a grudge forever."

Scarlett Shaw said resentfully.

"I was just interested in Dostoevsky’s books, wanted to open and take a look, but accidentally saw the photo of you and Ryan Ford, then you gave me a sour look and asked me to leave."

She argued confidently, but her voice grew softer.

Like the grievance back then, it came rushing back.

Julian Ford thought for a few seconds as he looked at her, then stepped closer, embraced her, and said, "It was my mistake, I apologize, okay?"

He leaned down, whispered an apology in her ear calmly, his voice steady without fluctuation.

Scarlett Shaw found herself unable to move.

Vaguely, a voice in her heart was telling her that indeed, things had changed.

It’s not just his feelings for her; what she thought was mere attraction from past physical intimacy seemed to be quietly evolving.

People always unconsciously push boundaries.

Scarlett Shaw was no exception.

As she pulled away from Julian Ford’s embrace, she suddenly dared to repeat the mistake, saying: "Why did you get angry with me last time? It’s no secret or shameful thing that you and Ryan Ford have a good relationship. Why can’t I see that photo?"

After Scarlett Shaw spoke, Julian Ford silently watched her for a long time.

His calm gaze clearly expressed that he didn’t wish to say a word.

"Should I say you have a poor memory, always stepping into traps, or sharp and smart, always spotting blind spots, hmm?"

He pinched her earlobe with his fingers.

Scarlett Shaw: "Whatever works, as per your choice."

Julian Ford chuckled lightly, ignored her words, only tilted her head to kiss for a while.

Of course, sealing her lips meant in another way that he didn’t want this topic to continue.

Scarlett Shaw didn’t get the answer, but she didn’t mind too much. Her main intent was never to probe Julian Ford’s privacy but to test his tolerance for her.

The result was naturally satisfactory.

Satisfied to the point that when Julian Ford emerged from the bathroom after showering, Scarlett Shaw was already lying on his bed, silk sheets falling at her waist, her black hair cascading down, and under the slip dress, her exposed back was smooth and straight. Her fair arms raised, holding her phone, trying to grab the New Year’s red envelope just posted on the investment group by Skyler Miller.

Scarlett Shaw grabbed the biggest one.

The group urged, asking the lucky one to send more.

As Scarlett Shaw sent out the red envelope, her slender waist was scooped up from behind by a large hand, her back pressed against a hard and cold chest.

Julian Ford’s warm breath brushed her neck, his long fingers pinched her camisole strap, voice low, "Wasn’t it supposed to be ’step by step’?"

"Yes."

Scarlett Shaw pushed away his hand, looked at him righteously.

"Julian Ford, don’t you dare cross the line."

"There are so many rooms in the house, if you don’t want me to cross the line, why come and lie on my bed? Scarlett Shaw, you really disregard my well-being."

Julian Ford pulled her hand and led it elsewhere, his gaze clear, voice composed, but Scarlett Shaw’s palm burned with heat.

She retracted her hand, raised her arms and hooked around his neck, leaning closer into his embrace, "Julian Ford, however uncomfortable you made me back then, I’m going to get even now."

More than once, he had her sobbing uncontrollably, tears in her eyes begging him, saying all kinds of nice words.

And him, high above, always in a sober rational posture.

Whether it was her desires or his, all were expertly controlled in his hands.

Julian Ford, in turn, didn’t continue to tease Scarlett Shaw.

If she wanted to play, he wasn’t averse to accompanying her.

Desire, whether physical or psychological, for him, it’s only a matter of wanting it or not, never a question of losing control.

However—

"Are you here to date me or to seek revenge?"

He scratched her chin, asking with deep implication.

"Consider it both," Scarlett Shaw said nonchalantly.

Julian Ford pinched her fingers, "I notice you’re quite proficient at pushing boundaries."

Scarlett Shaw felt guilty, touched her nose, "I learned from you."

Julian Ford narrowed his eyes slightly, the gaze holding a hint of danger.

Though Scarlett Shaw flaunted her girlfriend status for a bit, she knew Julian Ford was someone who needed to be handled with care, thus she softened, hugged him, and whispered, "Happy New Year."

He lowered his eyes, his gaze just falling on her nose, nestled against his chest.

Delicate and small, with a beautifully refined curve.

"Happy New Year."

Julian Ford softly.

The arms wrapped around his waist suddenly tightened, Scarlett Shaw pressed her chin against Julian Ford’s shoulder, holding onto him tightly.

From the age of fifteen till now, almost ten years, this is the first time she felt warmth return to a New Year. This cold man, who speaks in a way neither cute nor endearing, somehow brings her warmth no one else can.

But reality is unforgiving.

Scarlett Shaw and Julian Ford might foresee their destined separation, but they never imagined that the winter following the warmth would be colder than all past times.

...

The first day after confirming their relationship, which is New Year’s Day.

On such a special day, if it’s a couple that’s been dating for a while, perhaps they’d take each other home for New Year.

However, for Scarlett Shaw and Julian Ford, taking each other home to meet the parents is an impossibility, naturally, they’d each go back to their own homes.

Scarlett Shaw met Julian Ford again on the afternoon of the third day at the airport.

Veridian had overseas business to discuss, Julian Ford needed to travel abroad.

The two, barely into their relationship, had to face a brief stint of long-distance romance.

"You still need to get plenty of rest lately."

Scarlett Shaw was still apprehensive about the last time Julian Ford fainted, worriedly reminded him.

Julian Ford’s gaze deepened, suddenly held her waist, bent down to kissed her.
